When you leave to see the city, you leave your key up front and it gives an added sense of security since you know you won't lose it in the Florence crowds. Also the free breakfast exceeded my expectations-- huge selection and delicious! Nothing like being greeted by a cute dog as well!

I really like this hostel!…read more Location: it's right next to the train station and a short walking distance to the piazzas, the Domo, the leather market, and everything. Crowd: somehow there were a lot of Asians that booked this hostel. I was in a room of all Asian girls, I'm Asian myself and maybe they wanted to put us all together? Hostel: the rooms are freaking huge! It's old though but huge! The place is sooo big. They have courtyards and garden areas, big cafeteria that you can order food. The breakfast is the best breakfast ever for any hostel!! I'm not talking about bread, cereal, and a muffin. I'm talking about a selection of breads, sweets, real food (rice Wth seafood, tomato rice, meatballs with sauce, little hot dogs with veggies, eggs, eggs with bacon, a killer drink machine that makes the best cappuccino!) the breakfast was amazing and they did not cheap out. It was buffet style as well. The bathrooms were plentiful with showers. There's a 2am curfew and a 11pm quiet time. So if you wanna party go somewhere else, because the receptionist guy will give you crap. And tell you to shut up. The wifi is everywhere! And it's pretty good. Hey also have computers you could use as well. And they sell food and water for cheap. They don't try to over charge. A big water bottle was less then 1 euro! Other places sell that for 3 euros. Price was really good for hostel, under 30 euros. This was probably the best hostel I stayed at! Totally recommend if you are in Florence!

With any hostel experience, you are at the mercy of others to get sleep. The more people you add, the less likely your odds are of sleeping so keep this in mind if you're booking a room with lots of other people. I am a light sleeper so even with ear plus I slept very little. People were turning on the lights, coming and going all night and the doors here slam. This is not the fault of the facility though. The place was kept clean and there was bedding included and a large common area, kitchen and even a washer. Free WiFi too and towel rentals available. Location is great, right by many stores and cafes and near the beautiful bridges and Arno river which is a great running route.

Historically a monastery, this converted hostel is quite comfortable if you go at the right time. I…read morewish there was a separate review option for the winter months, because this hostel would get an extra star (at least!) if it weren't for the unbearable heat present in these rooms. Comfort: We stayed here during the summer months and although there is a fan and the window is open, there is literally no circulation in this room, making it impossible to sleep. As soon as you lie down you are dripping sweat. If you do stay here, book post August time and make sure you 'shot-gun' the top bunk so you can at least be near the high-ceiling fan! The rooms are closed and you need to clear out between 10am-2pm which, though annoying for some, works for those site-seeing during the day. There is access to luggage room when you request a key. Amenities: Otherwise, the hostel is pretty much worth the price, with a room being about €22 a night for a 10 person room (though there is an extra 2 euro cash tax on top). The rooms range from doubles, all the way up to 22-person dormitories. We had the 8 and 10 person rooms. The beds and rooms are spacious and clean and bed linen is included. There are lockers for valuables which require a refundable deposit. They are very generous with allotted internet time, though there are only 2 computers. The bathrooms are clean and large, though the girl's one is a few flights up. There aren't many of them, but I found the availability high and never had to wait. The dining areas are big, with 2 fridges, a kitchen, and lots of large benches at which to eat. Location: Well situated next to the Palazzo Pitti and about 5 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio (the old bridge and river area). Some nice cafes and little restaurants are in the area but it isn't at all touristy and has a more calm feel. Also very close to a *great* gelatto place. Social: Staff was fairly friendly and helpful. Most travellers are quite friendly and it's not uncommon to start up a conversation at the nice (but small) outside terrace or to end up having dinner with another group. Though I didn't find the meeting room very sociable. I would really recommend this place during the colder months or if you are immune to very hot sleeping conditions.

The rooms are interesting as they seem to be more of only twin beds and nothing else. I do appreciate that the AC works extremely well that the rooms are kept very cold. There are a lot of rules to follow here, something to keep in mind if you are planning to stay at this hotel. The water pressure and temp of the shower is fantastic. Probably the best bathroom I've had while vacationing varies parts of Italy. They also offer a breakfast buffet at 10 euros per person every morning.

Between the pool, full-scale restaurant (food was cheap and decent too), and modern/updated facilities it definitely didn't feel like the other hostels I've been to. I opted for a four bed mixed dorm and it was all women. I'm not sure if that was the luck of the draw or the kindness of the hostel staff, but either way it made for a pleasant surprise. Wifi is strong and reliable throughout the property. There are plenty of toilets and outlets as well. Definitely suitable for remote working if you need to while you're in Florence. It's also situated close to both the main tourist sites as well as the main train station. I would absolutely stay again.

After almost a week in the Florentine 6-persons-a-room hostel (sans AC) a cool hole in the ground…read morewould have done. We were not expecting much from this hotel, booked so last minute that we were left with a three-person room for two people. But we were pleasantly surprised. The website is extremely honest and up to date, clearly stating that this is a low-budget, 2-star accommodation establishment that provides no frills but real quality. The rooms are really colorful, bright, and actually surprisingly spacious compared to its Italian competitors (and London ones as well). I actually grew quite fond of the burnt orange and cheery yellow decor, especially when it was paired with a lovely en-suite. And a bidet?! Had never even SEEN one of these before. Anyway... Also (drum-roll please).....*free breakfast*. And it's quite a decent spread including croissants (with butter/jam/honey), yogurt, cereal, bagels, fruit, and juice/coffee. And huge TV. Shall I go on? I will...The price is amazing. Our room was 70 euros for what was meant to be 3 people, booked 24 hours in advance. But if you check the website, it seems to offer rooms for around 50 euros for 2 people. Considering the hostel was only a couple euros cheaper, well, it's your pick. For a 2-star, I give this place 5 stars without question. Also, the friendly reception works 24 hour, which is great. Only downside is that it's a little bit of a walk from the train. But, I appreciate the exercise :) Definitely worth using this as your budget base for a great trip if you prefer to splash out on great Italian food/site-seeing rather than on your crash-pad.
