DO NOT GO HERE! WAITER ASSAULTED ME! I was recommend this place by a friend so wanted to try it. Well, what a mistake that was. Service was non existent at the start were almost determined not to help us. When EVENTUALLY we were told to take a seat in the corner (not told exactly which table) as soon as we did, a big brute of a waiter started screaming at the top of his voice "no no get up get up" and suddenly told us the table was "now reserved". Confused by his miscommunication I asked a simple "Why?" to which he EXPLODED! He began shouting at me to "get out" and "f*ck off" several times when I said we would go somewhere else. As I was attempting to do so he physically struck me on my shoulder which resulted in me being scratched on my back. It was then he turned incredibly nasty and made several racist, derogatory remarks. "We don't want your kind here" and "no English" were two of the more subdued ones. If this establishment were anywhere else in the world they would be ashamed of their behaviour and disgusted in a member of their staff physically assaulting a young 20-something young woman. I suspect they would not care less that this has happened and blame a language barrier instead of addressing the deep rooted issues within their wait staff. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

Solid tapas, but nothing outstanding...beside the oxtail plate! This was really great. TBH we were annoyed by other customers. Some didn't want to wait in the queue to get seated and walked around in the dining area while everyone was eating. There are two of these restaurants. We went to the one called unio not the avenida on las palmas in Mallorca. Recommended by a friend, this place was hustling and bustling for a friday night out in the city. A rather larger place with an upstairs and downstairs, this place had high ceilings and a nice bar to sit, wait and maybe grab a drink or two before the hostess seats you. We waited for about 30 mins before we got seated. Service was friendly, quick and the waitress could not speak any English but the good thing is that there were both English and spanish menus for us to refer to. We were a group of five hungry gals that ordered a bunch of tapas. The ones that stood out the most for me would be the Patates con queso and spicy sauce, the Camembert with marmalade over bread, and the veal with creamy sauce. The salads were fresh but had barely any dressing on it which came out to be very tasty, crisp and a good side dish. The small frittatas like dish we had was good but was a bit too starchy for me. There's also the side bread with tomato pulp spread with salt and olive oil that was simple and simply delicious too. We shared a bottle of the house wine which was a rose that had too much of an acidic taste for me but overall, it went well with what we ate because it cut a lot of the grease down. The desserts were decadent such as the chocolate mousse cake and their almond cream cookies that remind me of macaroons only square shaped and not round. Overall, this place was a nice pick because the food was pretty good and seemed authentic, the tapas were small and enough (usually comes in one to two pieces) to help control our raging appetites (we'd order more as we went along), the service was most pleasant and accommodating and the ambiance was lively and festive with a noise being on the louder side since the ceilings were higher and there seemed to be an echo resonating. Oh and also, the prices were affordable because the tapas varied from 1.50-5. Euros each. We could have ordered one of each of the tapas on the menu and it would probably turn out to be less than 60 euros. The place itself was not too hard to find and it seemed more of a local hangout as opposed to a touristy place. Another reason why we ended up here too was because la boveda, our first choice for tapas was extremely long and crowded, so we walked to tast instead. This was a good local find and a good place to kick start a busy night ahead of us by filling us up with some delicious local, creative food. read more

After canceling our first reservation of the night because I hadn't been feeling well, I recovered enough to venture out and try and find a spot to eat dinner near where we are staying. Tast Union was one of the spots recommended by the lady at the front desk, so we made our way over there just after it opened - a good idea, it turned out, as by the time we left (close to 8:30 PM), it was jam-packed, with no free tables outside of those with 'reserved' signs on them. There are English-language menus available, although don't expect the waiters or servers to converse with you in English. That said, it does make ordering easy. The menu is pretty straightforward - hot bites, tapas, some meat and salad dishes - that you can pick and choose from, as well as bottles of wine that are very affordable compared to what I am used to seeing at restaurants (the most expensive bottle goes for 27 euros). In terms of food, Tast Union is what I'd describe as a solid tapas joint but one that didn't stand out in terms of what I have had elsewhere, even in the U.S. Probably my favorite dish was the serrano ham, sliced thinly and served with crispy slices of baguette (or a similar bread, if a tad flatter) that was drizzled with crushed tomatoes and olive oil. The bread really hit the spot, and the ham was light, airy but still very flavorful. I also did enjoy the oxtail, which was served with caramalized onions, giving it a faintly sweet taste in between the strands of savory meat. The rest of the dishes were okay at best - the 'tortilla' (Spanish egg and potato omelet) was very plain, and the cod croquettes were pretty nondescript as well, with the very rich tomato sauce (that didn't have the spice it said it would) being quite nice. The grilled octopus was overcooked, as it was very hard to cut with a fork and equivalent of a steak knife, and while I liked the olive oil and paprika preparation, the paprika was definitely drowned out by the oil. The meal is quite affordable, and I would come back to have another meal largely on that basis, as well as maybe ordering more of the charcuterie-like bites. But I wouldn't say that this will be the standout tapas spot that you may be looking for here. read more

We went here for tapas during our stay in Palma and had a great experience. It was totally packed and people waiting in a line - but luckily for us, we had reserved a table. This place doesn't look like a very special place, but that's the only not good thing that can be said, because otherwise it's great. The menu had lots of different options, and it was easy to navigate among the dishes. We ordered a small mix and got them served a bit after each other. It was very good, smelled fantastic and tasted a lot. It felt like the kitchen really made an effort to send out dishes looking good, even if there was lots of people. A glass of the house wine was only 1,90€, very good price for a nice glass of wine. All in all a good restaurant that I definitely can recommend - but remember to reserve a table! read more

Great place! Great grab and go tapas section and a full menu. Service was very friendly!

This place came highly recommended. I applaud the menu's variety. It also had unique items that were not typically on the other tourist menus at other restaurants. Unfortunately, the servers were a bit rough and rude, not only to me but to a group tour that was dining at the restaurant. I was embarrassed at how the restaurant seemed to Not appreciate the customers. read more
