My family and I came here for a quick lunch after visiting my son in the hospital. I have been to the other Taste location in Greenbrier which we loved. This location however, for me, wasn't impressive. The restaurant itself was packed on a Tuesday during lunch which is understandable considering the area and time of day. It seemed people were quickly coming in and out so finding a table wasn't too rough. I tried the crabcake sandwich special they were offering. Although it looked appetizing, to me it lacked something. A different sauce, topping. I'm not sure. But I have had plenty of crabcakes previously. This just didn't stand out to be impressive to me. The soda offerings they have were okay from the fountain. I am unsure of the brand exactly but to me the sodas tasted very watered down. My mother tried the Lynnhaven and so did my nephew. Both complained that it was extremely dry and chewy. When they brought our sandwiches to our table, they forgot my nephews sandwich and ended up having to go back to track it down. I really enjoyed the other location and maybe will stick with that one since it isn't as busy. read more

I had previously been to a TASTE in Chesapeake, probably about 7 years ago so when in the area and seeing this one I stopped in for lunch. I forgot just how amazing their menu is, not to mention the quality and freshness of their food! I tried their chicken pot pie soup and a curry chicken salad sandwich on their amazing, soft multigrain bread. But were OUTSTANDING!!! They have a large of selection to choose from when it comes to salads and sandwiches, as well as some regular soups and a daily special too. Many chips and other takeaway items in the store as well. My wife and I went there as we were wrestling with a few other choices in the area and were happy we landed there. The menu has a variety of sandwiches, salads, wraps and salads that everyone will find something they will enjoy. I grabbed the Bayville Farms roast beef with Havarti cheese with a house dressing. This was on a nice French bread and was a very solid sandwhich. It had a nice slice of the Havarti and was really good. My wife had the Lynnhaven roasted chicken breast, Pimento Cheese, bacon, spinach, tomato and basil spread on ciabatta bread. Again this was a pile of meat and vegetables on a good piece of bread. Both of these came with a bag of Route 18 potato chips that are locally made. The service was real quick and delivered to our outside table within minutes of finishing grabbing our sodas. While they also offered inside seating, we sat outside because it was warm and comfortable in the sun. Both are good options for the spirit of the moment. Lately, the music has been SO LOUD that it's hard to get any work done there, let alone have a conversation with friends. Loud enough that we left earlier than we wanted to, and have decided against coming here for work lunch meetings. This is a regular spot for me because their salad and sandwiches are consistently good, and it's a nice break from burgers and fried food. The service is friendly, even when it's crowded, and if there's going to be a long wait, they always have a sign posted, which I appreciate. I was in Ghent today for an appointment and got hungry, I stopped at taste unlimited and got the Mediterranean salad bowl with salmon! So I placed an order for delivery by Door Dash. Driver was there on time. Order was ready by 11:43 so the driver should have shown up as leaving. No. Taste made them wait to pick up another order and it wasn't ready until 12:42 so now our order isn't going to arrive until 1:15. Original eta was 12:10. Not a happy camper. So, DO NOT Order from here and have Door Dash deliver. I tried to order directly through Door Dash but was not able to. Taste is my boyfriend's new favorite sandwich place to go. They have reward points, so that you can get a free sandwich or soup once it builds up. I'm not the biggest sandwich gal, but my boyfriend wanted me to review this so here we go. I got the Chicken Salad Sandwich, and it tasted like any other chicken salad sandwich. However, I appreciated how thick the sandwich was. It had a lot of filling in it. I thought the Chicken Noodle Soup was a bit salty. First off, this is not my first, second, or last time coming here. I've been here to study, for lunch dates, quick coffee runs, and to grab some wine for a girls night. Taste is a great place for any of the above and I would highly recommend to anyone. I love that they have a parking lot. There is also A TON of space on the inside to sit down and eat and a cute patio outside as well. The staff has always been kind to me and I really like their variety in food. I've had multiple signature sandwiches and to go sandwiches from their cold section and they're tasty. My recommendation would still be their warm fresh sandwiches though. Heard about Taste through a friend locally, and thought I would give it a go since I'm an avid sandwich eater. Store was easy to find and parking was ample in their private lot. I picked up an order a few minutes before closing and there were still a handful of customers in line ordering and picking up. Since it was close to closing the seats were mostly empty but there was a chic industrial vibe which definitely would have been enjoyable as I noticed there was also a coffee bar inside. For food, I tried the Beach Club on a ciabatta roll and I have no complaints! Bread still tasted fresh at the end of the day and the dressing was a delicious pairing with the fillings. Coming from north Jersey, some of my favorite delis have a larger selection of sandwiches, so the limited sandwich menu here was a slight letdown, but the food tasted great so I know it won't stop me from coming back! Let me start by saying that I grew up in St. Louis and as such was raised on St. Louis Bread Co., now known as Panera. I still love Panera, but I suspect they'll be seeing a whole lot less of me with Taste around. I've visited several times, at various locations, and have always had a good experience. Today I stopped in to the Ghent location specifically for the Peter's Pick of the week: Turkey, pimento, romaine, and honey house dressing on French bread. I'm a sucker for anything with Pimento since moving to Virginia, and Taste Pimento is one of my favorites. The Peter's Pick sandwich comes with chips and a drink for $9.99. Quite the steal considering I really could have been satisfied with half of the sandwich alone. It was SO GOOD that I basically inhaled both halves before realizing how insanely full I was. (I should mention this was at a picnic in the middle of the Botanical Gardens so I then had to haul myself and a toddler out of there feeling like I just ate Thanksgiving dinner.) I stopped by around 9am to pick food up on the way to the Garden. I got the dressing on the side since it was going to be a few hours until I ate it, and they gave the most generous quantity. I ended up dipping the Chesapeak Crab chips in it just because it was so tasty! I had never tried any of their house dressings before but am really looking forward to trying the others now. I did initially think the sandwich could use a little more lettuce, as there was really only one thin leaf on each half. I really love my greens though and I didn't think anything of it once I took a bite. It's nice having a great sandwich shop open so early for occasions like this. We've eaten at a few different Taste locations before. Today was our first time at this one. We ordered our lunch for takeout around 2pm (on a Sunday). I ordered my favorite- the Beach Club with the multigrain bread swapped for French bread, no dressing. They made the substitutions as requested and my sandwich was very good. Lots of meat, cheese, bacon, and fresh veggie toppings. The bread seemed ever so slightly less-than-fresh. My husband ordered the Lynnhaven, exactly as it comes on the menu. This is his go-to and he enjoyed it very much. The pimento cheese is always his favorite part. Our food was ready within fifteen minutes for pickup as promised and it was easy to park and run it to grab the order. Overall, this compared well with experiences at other Taste locations. The food across the board at this franchise always seems a bit overpriced (it was $25 for our two sandwiches), but the food is good and usually fresh, and they offer a nice variety of menu options. read more

My favorite flavor is Mama Zuma's Revenge, a hot chip with a good blend of flavor and spice. My go-to cold sandwich is the Virginian. It has prosciutto, turkey, baked ham, provolone, romaine, tomato, banana peppers, drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette on ciabatta bread. My friends love the Inlet, which has a good amount of mozzarella, tomato, fresh basil, balsamic vinegar, and basil mayo on ciabatta. I have had that one too and it's a banger. You can customize any of the sandwiches or turn them into a wrap. I just tried the chicken parmesan sandwich and shared with my boyfriend and it was perfect for a quick, easy dinner. The sandwiches come wrapped up, so you can grab your sandwich and head somewhere for a picnic or to the beach. My favorite salad is the chicken caesar salad (I sub balsamic dressing for the caesar). Love it. Every 2 weeks there's a special called Peter's Pick and you get chips and a foundation drink included in your meal (no customizations on this one) at a discounted price. My girlfriend comes here to study often, which means I get to tag along! I've been here 5+ times and it's always left a good impression. They always got free samples on deck, which makes this place dope. The scene itself is beautiful. It's a got the modern kitchenware appearance with lots of wood design mixed with metal furniture. Lots of students and writers come here to work on assignments because it's a calming atmosphere. There's a nice echo throughout the store but not too noisy. Food & Drink: People mainly come here for the sandwiches. I've had the vegan It Ain't no Betty and it had a generous amount of avocado. I mainly order the citrus zinger every time I come here. It's a little sour and makes me feel while I'm studying. If you're a caffeine fiend, then they got some strong stuff here. My girlfriend orders the small almond joy coffee and she's jumping off the walls inside her head. Overall, they have a large variety of snacks and drinks. Overall: If you're the type of person who likes studying at cafes, this is the spot. Everything is spaced out nicely. If you just like the coffee here, you can always walk to a nearby restaurant to get an entree. It's also close to the gyms so you can head there with your gym bag in your car.
