We talk story, woman comes and gives me a menu, asks if I want coffee. I get the coffee and place my order. Smokemeat fried rice omelette and short stack banana pancakes. Everyone on the counter, except me, is addressed by their name (towards each other as well). One guy gets a honi as he leaves. Others are greeted by name as they enter. Brah! Das neighborhood coffee shop. I also know now why the banana pancakes are so darn good. I watched her place chunks of both mashed and whole pieces of bananas all over the batter as it cooked on the grill. Filled the whole circle.

The area can get ridiculously busy so if you can, park on the street instead of in the Lot. You will have a hard time getting in and out once the surrounding Businesses open. We sat at the Counter, and while we were very entertained with watching them cook orders, we were a bit neglected by the Staff, while the parties at the regular tables were presented with friendlier and more patient Servers. We waited over 15mins to get our order taken and since I guess they thought we were regulars they kept rushing to take our orders while we weren't given Menu's. We pulled the Menu up on Yelp lol. Food was standard. I really loved the fried rice! but the Hash was passable, it was too mushy for my liking. Also, our order of pancakes came 20mins after we finished eating, I wish i were kidding, We kept trying to flag down Aunty to cancel but she was very frazzled cooking, taking orders, and filling orders so we just waited. At the end we spent $60 including tip and left with a Hoo-Hum experience. Although I know for certain I just don't have the greatest of luck with this place, I am so happy they are still around and very much thriving! First, this spot is located on the corner of Ho'omohala and Nana Hope street near the Ho'opili community. Btw, this area blew up! Such a family friendly and cute neighborhood! Second, there is no designated parking for this coffee shop so you will have to find somewhere on the street to park. Beware, there are nparking signs across the street that indicate "No parking " so be sure to pay attention to signs. They tow! Third, the service was slow because there are only two baristas who worked as efficiently as they could so I wouldn't come here if you're in a rush to go somewhere. I ordered a large, French toast hot latte and their breakfast burrito that came with a small container of salsa. Everything was delish and believe that nothing went to waste after the calories I burned at the gym. Hehe. You can even make it a pre-Costco shopping delight stop. The menu is always changing but it feels like there's always something delicious to be had. My favorite is the Rocky Road where they actually add marshmallows on top and toast it for you. The Buttah Cakes has also been a recent gem that we've tried lately and it's absolutely delicious. Since it's freshly made, it's rich, creamy, and even a little scoop goes a long way. They even make waffle cones in store if you want to spruce things up for your dessert experience. The staff are friendly and handle rushes of customers well for the size of the shop. We're lucky to have a great shop like this in central Oahu so you don't have to drive all the way to town for a great ice cream fix.
