I am sorry this location closed. It was good, and I myself stopped by last week and yes, in fact it was closed, with no proper notice that in fact is has gone out of business. However in reply to owner from a previous reply to a review, and I quote "Would've been nice if people like you actually came more regularly and supported local businesses" -- would have loved to patronize more often, but at almost $20 a plate for lunch, personally for me, this was not a sustainable option. Decent food, fairly quick, and tasty, too. The staff who took my order was friendly and accomodating. Plus, the restaurant is clean. I work in the area and always have difficulty finding a good place to eat lunch. The area is mostly ghetto and full of grungy and unpalatable eateries, mostly Chinese, Vietnamese and Mexican food. There are fadtfood but I cannot have fastfood everyday. The price is fairly high but I get it, due to inflation and rise in minimum wage, the owner need to adjust to cover the cost. However, the portions are adequate. I ordered a beef plate, which consists of beef teriyaki. Did not appear nor tasted like traditional Japanese teriyaki but it was good. It came on a bed of generous portion of white steamed rice and side of steamed vegetables (cabbage leaves, few broccoli stems and few slices of carrots). They gave me extra sauce which was appreciated. It is good to know the LA County firefighters came and ate there while I was placing my order. They are repeat customers to this establishment. It is always assuring to know that places like this is good as police and firefighters eat there, too. If is is good enough for first responders, then it is good for me. Though, unlike the rest of us, the first responders are paid well and can afford good eats. Also, the establishment is understanding of the high prices of meal and currently experimenting with rewards system to maintain loyal customers. read more

Very generous portions, especially for the price, if you're looking for some cheap eats. My 12.99 chicken plate is definitely going to be two meals. Location wise, it's not difficult to find and bonus for the parking lot on the back, especially for El Monte. Growing up in the South Bay of Los Angeles is like growing up in a bubble. So when I run into someone from that area & we are both outside of the bubble, it's always a nice surprise. Such is the case here. I was driving back to Torrance from El Monte and decided to stop here because it caught my eye and I love a good Asian beef bowl. That's exactly what I got. The beef was scrumptious, seasoned just right and not overcooked like many a quick turn teriyaki joint. The flavors are authentic to Korea and it was basically like eating very good short ribs over rice, minus the bones. Granted, I have only been here one time, but let's just say I will certainly be back again. They have an extensive teriyaki-style menu with the usual suspects and a very tempting Boba beverage list with some pretty unique looking offerings. I'll be trying one next time for sure. Prices are decent and the owners run the place so they are attentive and qualified. It turns out we knew some of the same people (not really surprised coming from the South Bay bubble.) read more

I came here on my lunch break on a rainy afternoon. There is a small parking lot located behind the restaurant for convenience. There were. few people eating inside but otherwise pretty quiet here. I ordered the chicken ramen and a watermelon green tea (thank you Yelp for the great photos/reviews!) This looked so good and perfect for the rainy day. The chicken ramen was pretty good, the broth isn't too heavy on flavor but they have some condiments inside that you can add. The tea was good, I would say the quality of the cup concerned me a bit as it felt reusable in thickness and perhaps we can look into alternate options a bit better for the planet. Service was friendly and the wait time was only a few minutes. The inside of the restaurant is kept clean and they do not offer outdoor seating. I'd return to try a few more things from the menu. read more

This place has a lot of potential. The value is there, the flavor is almost there. I got the beef and chicken plate with Yelp check-in egg rolls and spicy chicken wings. Beef and chicken plate has a great portion. The rice tastes great (not dry, not mushy; just right). The beef flavor is excellent, but needs more char imo. The chicken has good marinade but really missing that char flavor doesn't make me think of teriyaki. Could be tastier but the meat portion did not disappoint at all. Veggies can be better (they're just plain boiled), but they help contrast the sweet salty aspect of the meats. Enough for two meals or a hungry lunch. Egg rolls are pre-made frozen ones. Tastes great as expected, the sauce was kinda weak. It's like Cantonese red vinegar with soy sauce and sugar, I feel it wasn't balanced well enough. Wings are meatless but really crispy. Even with sauce (meh, bad balance of sweet and salty...idk no spicy), it stayed crispy. There's not enough meat on them wings (I got 6 pcs, 5 were drums and only 1 wing tho..) to go well with the crispy outside. Meh Teriyaki sauce is weird, again bad balance. Too thick without enough boldness. It's not super sweet nor aromatic. It's just thick brown sauce, doesn't sound appetizing right? It isn't. Overall, 3.5 stars but I know this place can get it right. I hope they read this review and revamp or get a new kitchen staff that has taste buds. read more
