The bread is all gorgeous and stocked in open shelves and you choose what you want and bag it up. As it is a deli they do all the typical types of meat and crackers you would expect. They aso have a fabulous selection of Green and Black's chocolate and Jelly Belly jelly beans. Upon entering a few of the staff just stared at us, then the owner came out and showed us to a table by the window. The decoration in the place was really random, we were sat next to what seemed to be a pirate ship wooden rail with some tiger print nearby as well. The owner explained they were in the middle of a refit and that the walls had been thick with grease when she arrived.... nice just what we wanted to hear before eating... We ordered a variety of indian dishes, some starters and naans and waited whilst listening to some Indian music being play from tinny cheap speakers on the window next to us. The atmosphere was... lets say underwhelming. The starters were okay, but when the main tandoori dish came my girlfriend took a bite and bit into a stone... literally a stone! She promptly removed the stone and put it on the table. She hurt her tooth and was pretty put off from the rest of the meal. We told the staff and the owner seemed apologetic but that was as far as it went. We didn't even get the meal discounted even though we left it and my girlfriend nearly chipped her tooth. Let just say we weren't very happy and the way the staff dealt with situation and to still charge us for a meal that had a stone / grit in it... not impressed. Dead on 12 the door swung open to a "new paint" smell and to 3 members of staff eager to let us in. The food was slightly above the expected McDonald's quality (or perhaps the quality staff just made it seem that way?). The service was very fast and efficient. And, though several people left their tables and floor area in a terrible state while I was there, the lady cleaning the tables was so lovely, tirelessly cleaning up people's messes in spite of customers with bad manners. Seriously exceeded expectations. I'd give them 6 stars if i could. I was there just before 8pm on Tue 20 June. McDonald's ought to give the whole shift a bonus. If every McDonald's staff was as good as these guys, I'd probably become a McDonald's regular again!

It features 16 guest rooms (I think) upstairs which explains why it is always so packed. They have a good sized bar area where you can grab a table if they are free, have a drink, play board games. The place is decorated beautifully. It's a modern twist on your typical old English pub. Still features exposed wooden beams. It's very charming. Check out the sitting area in the front. Nice spot to lounge with a coffee after the meal. I find the menu here small, but I've never had a problem finding something I like. There are standard pub dishes like fish and chips plus more modern gastropub food. Some people may find the way the food is presented to be peculiar. For example, the chicken liver pate was served on a bed of decorative pebbles. I think it works for a place like this. The quality of the food here is excellent. Everything always tastes freshly made to order and served piping hot. Service is prompt and polite. I think the only gripes I found are the parking lot is too tiny and there isn't a proper cocktail menu. With a bar stocked the way theirs is, it deserves a nice cocktail menu. This pub has become a staple for my trips to the Dales. I highly recommend it for those travelling through the area.

Just off a minor road on and even smaller road, this takes some faith if you are driving in the dark. We were greeted with a nice welcome and asked if we had reservations which means this place must get busy. It was fairly empty on a Wednesday night there are several rooms including a proper dinning area. The bar is reached on two sides of the dinning room with bar stools in both rooms and a lot of small tables. Great, traditional, British, old style pub and restuarant. One young waiter seemed new and eager to help while the other young waiter seemed to be the "boss" and was a bit colder and commanding the other two. No worries as that is not why we were there. I ordered a chicken pie and my wife ordered a salad and local salami platter. They were all great. Because the three waiters were more or less kids, none of them had tried any beer and could not give me any advice. I had two of the local beers which were good. A few more people came in to had drinks and dinner as well. It seems like a nice place to stay over as well, but that will have to wait until another day.
