Really impressed with this tattoo shop. Both of the artists I've dealt with (Neal and Bebo) are very professional, focus on making sure you know what you are signing up for, and most importantly they are Honest. I found that they turn away a decent amount of work because they want to make certain the customers know that weight loss will reposition the tattoo, and other things like that. They require ID to be tattooed/pierced as they don't do any work on minors. I think these guys have a strong ethical compass, and they are true artists. I am completely bummed out. A few months back I stopped here with my daughter and was able to get my son's name tattooed on my arm. The young man who gave me the tattoo did a nice job. I mean it was just a name and a certain font but he took the time to ask me why the name and the font. I told him that this was the last of my kids that I needed to get tattooed and now I could get some other artwork done that I had been planning. The artists name is Manny. I thanked him for the work and that I would be back. I came back today. I stopped by the shop, Manny was there. I knew he wasn't going to recognize me, no big deal. But I wanted to make sure that I gave him the work because he seemed to be a nice hard working artist who can only get better. I pulled out my phone, showed him some pics of the work I wanted done. It was 2 bands on my right arm and before I could tell him that I wanted Faith written in latin, he cut me off. He said that the bands wasn't difficult to do and that the bands wouldn't be straight. They might look straight on one side but they would come out crooked on the other side. Then he started telling me that he doesn't do trendy work. Tribal, bands, and he went on to mentioned other styles were trendy and his professional opinion, he doesn't do trendy. I felt like a complete fool. Prior to coming into the shop, I looked up the history, culture, and any background information I could find on the band tattoos. I wanted to make sure that I didn't offend anyone or a culture. What I found was that the band tattoos have become very popular. In some articles I read, the cultures that embrace this art form encouraged this tattoo because some folks educated themselves on how/why people got these band tattoos. The tattoo symbolizes a loss, mourning of a loved one, or a great or significant accomplishment. Manny went on and on and even mentioned that in his professional opinion, he wouldn't do the tattoo. Yes, "professional opinion" was mentioned more than one time. So I asked, so you wouldn't do it? He said well no but maybe we can do something different, put a spin on the tattoo, make it different. I then said well, this tattoo is for my daughter who serves in the US Navy. Again, I couldn't finish what I was going to say when he said, Oh bro ya we can do it definitely, we can do it. I don't have time this week but next week. I said ok, I'll be back. I couldn't walk out of there fast enough. The folks in shop sitting behind me, I felt like they were laughing at me. I felt like a fool. My daughter, in the US Navy, and I are working on getting tattoos that have meaning to both of us. I'm not trying to be popular or follow a trend. I want to look down at my tattoo and smile thinking about my daughter. Already making plans to meet her in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area later this month to get the tattoo up there. Neal mentions customer service, this wasn't customer service. Maybe update your website to inform your potential customers that you're no longer tattooing certain but more focused on another style. Without a doubt this is the best tattoo business ever! I am very picky and have a lot of anxiety so I read the reviews and made the decision to go in. I went with my mom and we were greeted and taken care of like we were celebrities. Victor did the most BEAUTIFUL heart beat on my ribs that I brought in from my daughter's EKG. He beautifully designed her initials and was open with any changes to fit what I wanted. Victor was so calming and talked me through the whole thing. He was patient and very meticulous with his designs. He took his time and made me feel so good about my decisions. The owner, Neal, was hands down the best owner of any business I have ever met. He was informed and offered life changing suggestions. I am a teacher and I originally wanted my tattoo across my breast plate and he gave me other options, thinking of my career and me as a person. He walked me through the needles they use, the professionalism and education and confidence he has invested in his artists, he explained every step of the process, and carried on some of the best conversations about life (to ease my mind). The best part was that they respected my time as their time and valued me as a human. Seeing the artists interact with each other was my favorite thing. They are like a family and treat you with the utmost respect. I am from Missouri and I will ONLY get my tattoos from the guys at Tattooed Empire. I have spent most of my life on the west coast where there is literally a tattoo shop around every corner and every big name artist you can imagine. It's easy to grow up with the idea that California is the coolest and best place to get a tattoo. I mean think about it with the advent of reality shows like Ink Masters, Epic Ink, Inked, etcetera and most of those artist are located in the same state. It's real easy to think that everyone else just can't compete. I recently moved to Brownsville,Texas and honestly, had no idea of what to expect. I prejudged the shops and artist without ever stepping foot in them, admittedly, I stuck my nose up with my California attitude and didn't even bother. One day I heard a radio announcement for a tattoo convention on South Padre Island and decided to go. I imagined it to be like the ones in California with hundreds of shops and select Artist. So I was eager and very excited to go. I have been wanting a full Japanese sleeve for years now but even with all those shops surrounding me i just never found the right Artist who shared my vision. So when I attended the tattoo convention on SPI as the locals call it I found an amazing hidden gem, and out of all places the shop is located right here in Brownsville. Just goes to show what a high and mighty attitude gets you. The owner (Neal Tyner) is one of those people that have a rare quality that is just not found in most people anymore. He is Honorable, Honest, passionate about his craft and most importantly cares about his clients and potential clients. The Tattoo shop is called Tattooed Empire it is hands down One of the best tattoo shops around, dare I say in the United States.
