Tattooed Moose is a great spot to hang and grab some yummy bites. And best place, animal friendly! Our server was great, even letting us know happy hour would be in a few minutes and for us to order then to get the best deal! The chili has a smoky flavor which keeps you going back for. The creamed collards was a first for me, a little underdone but overall the food was great. Will definitely return if ever on the island again.

I live really close to Tattooed Moose and a lot of our friends are regulars. I had heard some good and bad things, but mostly good. Well I finely had the opportunity to visit and we had a good meal. Parking seems to be an issue here. It took me while to park and it wasn't even busy yet. They seem to have live music often and I really appreciate the kids area. There is indoor and outdoor seating and I spotted some warmers. Service was decent. Staff are nice and good came out quickly. My kid loves the fries, my wife enjoys the cheeseburgers, and I loved the thanksgiving sandwich. Prices seemed fair too. All in all, I like this spot.

Great local establishment, lots of beers to choose from, and bar food for days. Their specialty is the duck fat fries, but to be honest I don't taste a difference from any other fries. If you're looking to their back a few and have some bar food, this is a great Johns Island institution.

This is a very cool place... random writing all over the walls. A punk rock feel, and I love the logo. Their outdoor seating was pretty awesome as well. A great selection of beer. I don't know what steroids they are feeding the chickens.. but the wings were the largest i've ever eaten. They were fried well and really juicy. I liked both flavors, but preferred the Honey Habanero flavor.. which weren't very spicy at all despite the name. The duck fat fries were really good too. The bartenders were quick and very knowledgeable of the beer selection. Next time i'm in Charleston, I'll definitely stop by.

Fun funky place with great service and good food. Great place to chill and enjoy some outdoor seating and play some corn hole. Had a great meal will go back when visiting the island again.

I flew into the local small airport for work. We borrowed a crew car for some lunch. I had been to the Charlston location, so I knew this was the place! It was also recommended by the girls at the fbo at the airport. It was a dead time of day. So super quick service and food. My coworkers got the burger and loved it. I got the Thanksgiving sammie with some extra gravy for my fries! It was so freaking good! We got dessert to go. An amazing place to eat on John's Island!

Today I got the Cobb Salad bacon on the side. It was good. Next time maybe dressing on the side or light dressing...? Carly is the best!!

Came here for the chili. It was good. Not outstanding but good. Above average. Duck fat fries were very good. With their house aioli. Cornbread was fresh and tasty. Mixed good with the chili. I think if the chili would've been hot, it would've been a lot better. It was room temperature.

Sweet Water Lager. We come from the land of the lager king - Yuengling, this a real nice brew that definitely holds up to our favorite.

When you put "lunch near me" on your GPS and a place called The Tattooed Moose pops up-you go. It's a roadhouse with character and a menu with even more character. MIKE'S FAMOUS Duck Club, made with duck confit-yes! Duck Fat French Fries-yes! A well thought out draft menu-yes! So so glad we made the stop.

    Amy A.

I loved this place so much! I got the duck club and I don't even like duck and it was amazing. The bartender was super kind and my favorite part was meeting the owner, Jen I think. I talked with her for awhile and she told my tourist self so many great places to go and was just an amazing person to meet in general. Go there!! You won't regret it

To start we had a coffee stout to go with the 30min wait for a table. Buzy little joint! We ordered the Duck Club sandwich (a melt in your mouth 4 napkin samy) with pork rinds the garnish is worth mentioning homemade dill pickles & spicey pickled green tomatoes & a side of Mexican Steet Corn (garlicky buttery goodness) Our server was great, he said portions were portions large and splittable & very knowledgeable about the menu. This was a "Triple D" spot & it didn't disappoint. We would go back again and again.

Quick and great service. Nice draft beer selection. Fun local atmosphere. Food very good and inventive- had never had a duck confit club before, with pork rinds on the side!

Kids play area, fence is down between it and the active construction site where heavy machinery is doing work.

Every single person we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and more than happy to give recommendations, which was much needed because everything sounded amazing. They even played along with our Christmas party raffle games, which made the night extra fun. Such a cool, welcoming vibe. For appetizers, we shared the lemon ricotta dip, the Dippin' Shrimp, the spinach artichoke dip, and a spicy Caesar salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. For my main course, I ordered the pecan-crusted chicken with a side of Brussels sprouts, and wow. Phenomenal. Huge portions, incredible flavor, and we were all stuffed by the end. Amazing service, amazing food, and an overall great experience. I cannot wait to come back again. This is officially a go-to spot for celebrations.

Had a slight kick to it (spice wise) but very little evidence of actual seafood in it. After much debate about what to get for a main course (and after seeing what other patrons got at the bar where I sat), I decided to get the Moroccan salad with salmon. Again...it was good...not great. I cook way better salmon at home on a cedar plank over real charcoal, so maybe I'm being unfair here? I dunno. The salad itself was heavy on arugula, which I'm not a huge fan of. Which is odd, because I love the flavor of pepper! Anyway, the menu made it sound like it was more fennel-oriented, so... Ended up capping off the meal with the blackberry key lime pie. It was quite tasty. Not the best key lime pie I've ever had, but good. As to the atmosphere, it's nice. My girlfriend has actually convinced me several times that we shouldn't come here because we weren't dressed well enough. Well, let me just say: I saw several guys here wearing jeans, fishing shirts, and ball caps and they fit right in. So: not stuffy at all! Bottom line, it's a good, not great place to grab a meal. I love that it's off the beaten path (i.e., not close to Folly Road). Will def come back with my girlfriend next time. Might try the swordfish or maybe the meatballs next time.

Brace yourselves--this is going to be a long one, because this experience deserves every bit of it…read more We recently had the opportunity to do a chef's tasting at Honeysuckle Rose, and from the very first interaction, it was clear this wasn't going to be your average night out. We had a bit of a hiccup to start--we couldn't find our gift card (of course). I called and spoke with Kelleanne, and I have to say, this is truly where the experience began. She was warm, understanding, and genuinely funny, turning what could have been a stressful moment into something easy and even enjoyable. She handled everything with kindness and grace, and it set the tone for the evening ahead. A couple of days before our reservation, we received a confirmation call from James--but not the typical kind. He asked thoughtful, personal questions: who my guest would be, our water preferences (yes, really), allergies, absolute no-go foods, and even a song that held meaning to us. At that point, our curiosity was fully piqued. When we arrived, the space immediately stands out. It's very dark--blacked-out windows, black walls, black ceiling--and it's all completely intentional. Before the meal began, Kelleanne explained that the goal is to create an intimate dinner party atmosphere, where you forget the outside world and fully immerse yourself in the experience. And it works. It really works. At your seat, you're given what feels like an invitation--that's your menu for the evening. Each course is introduced by chef River and sommelier Mary Kate, adding a personal and thoughtful touch to every dish. I won't go course-by-course (we'd be here all night), but just know: every single one was worthy of praise. Chef River is absolutely crushing it. We were lucky enough to sit at the chef's counter, which I highly recommend if you can swing it. Watching chefs River, Ryan, and Trae work was like witnessing a perfectly choreographed performance. After each course, every surface was meticulously cleaned--counters wiped, stoves reset--everything returned to pristine condition before the next dish began. It was as impressive as the food itself. And it doesn't stop there. You notice Cody in the back, carefully polishing each glass and plate to perfection. Every single person on the team is fully invested in making this an extraordinary experience--and that's exactly what it is. What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail and the personal touches. Maybe you get an extra bite, a meaningful story from Mary Kate, or a surprise dessert to celebrate something special. There's an element of the unexpected that makes the evening feel uniquely yours. We left completely blown away. Not just by the food, but by the people. Kelleanne and Ryan are the kind of individuals you genuinely enjoy watching succeed--they bring something special to the entire experience. And a quick note for those who notice the details (like I do): even the bathroom is stunning--beautifully designed and just as intentional as everything else in the space. If you're looking for something truly different, immersive, and unforgettable--this is it. Don't think twice. Book the reservation. We'll absolutely be back, and we're already looking forward to exploring their other concepts.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt beautiful, intimate, and welcoming. We sat at the chef's counter, which gave us a great view of the kitchen, and our bartender was incredibly knowledgeable when helping us choose drinks throughout the evening. Every dish was thoughtfully balanced and timed perfectly--I never felt rushed and had plenty of time to enjoy each course. I had noted on our reservation that I cannot eat beans, and the team not only remembered but modified an entire dish for me without hesitation. That level of attention to detail made the experience feel even more special. For the quality of the food, service, and ambiance, I felt the cost was absolutely worth it. I made a reservation at the chef's counter -- as a solo diner I'm especially fond of dinner and a show. It is worth noting that only a few of the counter seats actually have a good view of the kitchen, so make sure you add that request if it matters to you. The standard tasting menu is super reasonably priced for a Michelin and I decided to treat myself to both of the substitution upgrades and the wine pairing. Stand out flavors were the duck prosciutto to start (though the scale could have been smaller as the deliciously crumbly tart crust made it difficult to eat this without it falling apart), the seared scallop with billi bi, and the Kagoshima A5 wagyu (which was generously portioned!) I also found the wine pairing unpredictable and spot on! My favorite was the Greek Rose paired with the scallop! I was there on a Wednesday night and all diners were dressed in business casual or southern chic. Bathrooms are spacious and immaculate with wine counters and fragrant soaps. I'm not sure I'd always give this 5 stars -- if I had just had a view of the liquor bottles at the bar would I have enjoyed my experience as much? The interior of the space is beautiful with a lantern lit walkway and soaring ceilings with artful projections on the wall. I'm sure it's lovely for a special date night or celebratory dinner. I'd definitely recommend Wild Common to friends in Charleston, but I might try a different spot the next time I'm in town.
