"Master Stylist" I'll give a one star just to post. Paid $275 for highlights plus my time of 5 1/2 hours. Not at all what I wanted. Went back for a "color correction" another 3 hours of wasted time for her to tell me my bang area will washout after a couple shampoos...It looked way worse when she was finished. I talked to the manager about getting my money back and of course they are a "no refund" salon. I ended up getting my hair cut off and starting over. This has been a couple years ago, and still pissed. DO NOT waste your time or money with this salon! read more

I went to this salon in hopes of having phenomenal service super close to my home. The entire environment is just very cold and feels very uncomfortable. I had recently relocated to Beavercreek and had to leave my prior salon. Walking in at my previous salon it was always warm, welcoming, and all the women talked and enjoyed the experience. When I walk in to Tavernier's everyone seems quite and constricted to their small area. The staff is not happy with their employment as evidenced by discussions and behaviors. Once you get a good stylist you like, they leave and they leave in waves. I literally get anxiety going in here as it feels I'm walking on egg shells. To be fair, the salon is pretty but needs updates. Your there for so long it should be more comfortable and a drink should be offered. You pay top dollar here for services that are at best mediocre. I wish they would figure out whatever it is to change their culture because it's such a great location. read more

...I'm pretty disappointed in my visit today. Granted, I've been pleased the past two times with the haircuts I've received here, but not so much as to overlook the cold way that most of the staff (especially the receptionists) behave. However, I have no doubt that there's a handful of amazing stylists there and I hope they move on to a more friendly and professional salon. On the plus side, I finally decided to go to Square One Salon and Spa for better service. I already made my appointment, and was greeted in a very friendly manner. Seriously, that's all I'm looking for... Friendly service and a great haircut. I can't wait to write that review! Would I come back to Tavernier's? So I had read a few reviews on this place --- it was on my list of "possibles" for a new hair salon when I found a Groupon that was $39 for a full color, cut and style..with a $10 Groupon Coupon @ 29.00 total -- DONE! They obviously had a huge response to this deal because when I went in they were PACKED @ 10 a on a Saturday and a lot of women were talking about the Groupon. Really interesting mix of people here --- Granny sitting next to me was obviously a regular for her Sat hair style --- with teenagers and men along the standard "mom" clientele. Stylists also were all over the map, I guess it's good as there's something for everyone here but without an online listing of their stylists I would never know who to choose. I was given an appt with Cori -- she had just started at the salon a few weeks before and graduated from school in June (this made me a little scared). She was really nice, took time to discuss what I wanted and we had a good conv the entire time.... I really like the cut she gave me and the color is nice and shiny which was what I told her I wanted most. At full price, I would have paid a minimum of $85... generally I get a cut with 2 colors and a clear shine treatment which would have put me over $120 here according to the receptionist. Don't know that I would go back at full price but if I do, I will go see Cori again. :) read more

Absolutely the worst experience at a salon I have ever had. I had my hair done by a "master" stylist. Told her I wanted a strawberry blonde color, she never showed me swatches just went ahead and threw the color in. I came out and was shellshocked at how terrible it looked. I told myself I would wait till it dried because obviously she must know what she is doing (she didn't). I came out with a Garfield-esque color the day before I was having professional engagement photos taken which I had told her. Her solution? To throw dark color over my freshly highlighted hair that cost an arm and a leg. I was so upset I went home and had to reschedule my pictures. Her response to me wanting a refund to go somewhere else? Have her do it again. Absolutely not. I'm sorry but not only was the hair terrible, there were stylists not wearing masks and gossiping about an employees miscarriage and just overall being snotty. I will never come back here again, especially since they robbed me out of my money. If I could give it ZERO stars, I would. If this is the work of a MASTER stylist I can't imagine how atrocious the others must be. BTW: tried contacting the manager multiple times with no assistance. Truly a scam. When I inquired about where she went, the receptionist, Rhonda, was so incredibly rude that I will not got back. Not only does she do amazing work, her energy is contagious. Whitney takes the time to explain the process and becomes really involved in her clients hair journey! I love that the girls at Tavernier's continue their education/skills with classes to stay apart of the ever changing trends and fads. I normally don't post things like this but this is absolutely ridiculous and I think everyone should know to never go to Whitney at Tavernier's Salon & Spa, or actually just don't go there period. The first photo is what I showed them I wanted. The next photos are what I ended up with. And the last photo is what my wonderful friend was able to give me when she worked her magic on the mess I went to her with. I think anyone could tell you that what I had before it was fixed wasn't worth paying any money for at all, let alone the hundreds I spent on it as I was promised we'd get it to where I wanted it but was continuously told that I needed to come in "one more time" to get it right. Not to mention I left the salon with color all over my face the first time but I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be that picky customer, and then my 2nd appointment was cancelled 6 hours prior so I had to adjust my schedule to accommodate to move it to the next day in hopes that my hair could get fixed and I could stop walking around embarrassed of it. But the 2nd appointment only made it worse. Why was my friend able to fix this in 2 hours when they couldn't give me what I wanted in 2 appointments? And why would I want to go back to them to have it fixed when they clearly hire people who don't know what they're doing, and are immature enough to post about it on their Facebook instead of going to the client and asking why they weren't satisfied? I also just spoke to the manager and these were her exact words: "we don't refund ever, so that will never happen." She wouldn't even give me the time of day to look at these awful photos because she knew if she saw them she couldn't deny that I'm right. What a joke of a business. I bought a groupon special for this salon. It is a nice place with a more upscale decor. Kayla gave me a color, cut & style. She did a good job! My criticism is with the front desk. I've been to some nice salons and the front desk almost always offers drinks, such as coffee or water, (and sometimes snacks) to patrons who are waiting. I was 10 minutes early and the front desk was engrossed in gossip instead of ensuring patrons were happy.This particular salon leaves these tasks to the hairdresser, as well as washing hair...this is unusual to me. My guess is this salon is either too cheap to provide these services or they have a budget problem. Overall the salon earned only an average rating from me. Kayla, on the other hand gets high ratings...definitely recommend. :) read more

The shellac manicure I got here was SO bad. The nail technician was late, did not touch my cuticles, shaped my nails very poorly, needed to ask many questions of her colleague about both application and materials, and applied the polish unevenly (both in terms of coverage and thickness). Two of my nails chipped within the first three days; others are peeling and/or are uneven (for example, one large lump of polish on one finger). I get that everyone has to learn sometime, but I'm really not pleased that she seemed to be doing this at my expense-- the money I paid was a complete waste and I now need to go get redone... which I will definitely be doing somewhere else. read more

I received a gift card for Tavernier's as a gift for my birthday in 2007. It was intended for me to use as a "day at the spa", complete with a facial and massage. I decided, however, to get a cut and color; well, many cut and colors, as I was gifted with a $200 gift card! The stylists were professional and quite helpful in choosing the right color and style for my hair. After exhausting the funds on my gift card, I returned for haircuts and received equally delightful service. Their rates, however, are a bit pricier than my former salon (Bella's in Huber Heights). I had a wonderful time here, and Christie was a fabulous colorist and stylist. Came for a full highlight, only to find afterward that none of the color took- at all!! Christie completely redid my hair, which required another highlight, and then color to be applied all over. It was alot of work, and she stayed late to get it done for me. Turns out my previous hair colorist had used permanent, and not semi permanent color, which she told me she used, on my hair. Ugh. They made it all work out, and were very friendly. I had makeup & hair done here for my wedding reception. Hannah did my hair and not only was it absolutely beautiful but she was just wonderful to work with. She listened to exactly what I wanted, made great suggestions and made sure I was 100% happy. Angelica did my amazing makeup! She's a real artist & made me look like me but totally glamorous! Airbrush make up is so flawless & her expertise with my eyes - which I really wanted to bring out perfect! She also helped me look bright eyed on very little sleep. I've been coming to this place for several years to get my hair highlighted and trimmed. My service has consistently gotten worse and my price has consistently gotten higher. My last experience was awful. I was charged 140 dollars for a partial highlight and a trim. My stylist is Hannah. She has been upcharging me for years. They take advantage of people who don't have knowledge on prices and hair terms. Hannah is always in a hurry and only cares about money and not her clients. read more

I tried another stylist after not being very happy with my cut with Aundrea. Even more disappointed after the 2nd try. Both stylists were pleasant people, and listened to what I wanted and then tried to deliver. Problem being, they really DONT know how to cut curly hair on people why want to wear it naturally. Neither stylist actually looked at MY curl pattern before cutting. Both insisted on straightening my hair to style it, with tons and tons of heavy-silicone laden products. (3 shampoos after BOTH visits just to get rid of enough buildup that I didn't keep frizzing from the cones.) Even though both stylists stated they had naturally curly hair, both had their hair ironed when I saw them. So maybe their solution to naturally curly hair is to coat it with as many silicones as they can find, and then flatiron it? They probably frequent this site and know all the right buzzwords ---Curly Girl technique, not overwashing, avoiding cones, etc. But they just don't really know HOW to look at a natural curl pattern and work with it. I now have poodle-flaps over my ears after my hair dries naturally, which Rita never saw coming because she insisted on straightening my hair! And despite the claims of the stylists, receptionists, and other reviewers...I did not actually see a head of natural-- not curled in with a flatiron--curls on the head of ANY stylist at that salon during my 2 visits. All in all, it is a nice salon, pleasant people, decent prices....but you will get a Supercuts-level of skill with these stylists. I've had comparable cuts there, in fact. Which is why I need to go buy a bunch of headbands to pull this dog-eared mess back until it grows out. read more

It's hard to decide exactly how many stars this place deserves since I have never actually been a client here. This review is based on an inquiry I made concerning shellac polish change services. I have found that most places that have shellac will do a polish change at a reduced rate from the normal manicure/pedicure price. However, Taverniers's will not. It is either a full manicure/pedicure or nothing at the full price. The reasoning I was given made no sense. The technician said something about the manufacture of the shellac system did not recommend doing the graduated pricing. I did not quite understand this. Why would the manufacturer of the system even care what you charge? I assume the management of the salon would make those decisions. Anyway, it is unlikely I will ever become a client here. I am sure they have skilled technicians and many satisfied customers. I just won't be one of them unless they can become more flexible. read more

I agree with D.K. and the problem with getting natural curly hair cut here. I did get two good cuts from Jill, despite my annoyance at leaving the salon with Big, Crispy Hair. I told her at least twice that I do not care for the big hair look, and would prefer not to resemble a Texas beauty pageant contestant for the rest of my afternoon errands. The most recent cut there (July, 2010) was one of the worst I've ever had. It was two inches shorter than what I requested, and she layered my thick, curly hair after being specifically told not to do that. It was as if she chose to completely ignore me, or perhaps confused me with another client who wanted her hair to resemble a poorly pruned shrub. Naturally, it stuck out on the sides like the classic Bozo the Clown look. Eight months later, I am still waiting for all of the horrible short, choppy layers to grow out all the way. I am still looking for a stylist who can really work with natural curl, instead of hacking it off and then trying to convince me that a shitload of overpriced products and flatiron are the solution. read more

Where I used to work we have a massage therapist come in twice a month which was awesome, so I used that experience as my reference. I was disappointed. This was the worst salon experience I've ever had. Don't even bother with this salon. Upon entering I was not greeted pleasantly, instead glared down like I didn't belong there. This was my first visit to the salon after being referred by a friend and was already feeling uneasy about the place. I was a little early for my appointment and sat down to wait after I checked in. I was not offered any refreshment. I sat there for 30 minutes constantly ignored by the front desk. I inquired about what was taking so long and they told me my stylist was just cleaning her station and was almost ready for me. Turns out, that was a lie. The front desk messed up and checked me in with a stylist who was booked! My stylist had been ready for me the whole time........How does that happen? I am willing to accept that mistakes can happen, but then to lie about it? Needless to say, I was pretty angry after waiting that long and being lied to so I left. The front desk called me after I left to try to apologize for the mix up and to get me back. The front desk offered a small discount if I came back. I told them, if you want me back as a customer then you have to make it right. I was willing to pay the stylist for her time but I would not pay the salon a dollar after that experience. Their manager was too much of a coward to speak to me herself and clearly did not care to keep my business. They refused to make it right. I will never return to this poorly managed salon and recommend that no one else waste their valuable time!!!!!! read more

I won a gift certificate for this place and was so looking forward to my salon experience. Upon arrival I waited ten minutes standing at the front desk as the staff took phone calls and cashed others out before even acknowledging me in front of them. Once I was checked in a stylist walked me to the back and I informed her of the color request showing her photos from Pinterest. She left for several minutes and returned to inform me I would need a fill color before the other color (red) due to my blond hair. No problem. She applied the fill color at the wash station and left again with me sitting at shampoo bowl the 15 minutes while that set. Not the most comfortable and no one even checked on me or anything. Once the second color started conversation was minimum and felt forced. I really felt invisible in this place and unwanted. My hair took 2 hours and 25 minutes and I still couldn't tell you my girls name or anything special about this place. Stations looked dated, staff not friendly, cold environment and to top it I was charged double for color which brought my bill over $130. I would not recommend this place to anyone due to the service, price, and my color wasn't even close to what I requested. She did do a fantastic job with my cut and although the color is not my choice it is still a well done dye job. read more
