We ended up making fun of it so much that when we found out it was only 5euro and 30 (maybe 45) minutes and is located within the Schönbrunn palace we had to go. This was the greatest decision ever. It was such a fun time, it did not take up that much effort to do and the goat chef was funny, informative and the strudel was amazing! They could charge even more considering I would be willing to pay 5euro for a hot beverage and giant slice of strudel without the added benefit of the show! If you go to the Schönbrunn palace do not miss out on this!

At the main entrance from the road where you are facing the palace the entrance is in the building on the left. You descend down stairs into a basement and find a seat at one of the tables for four that are spread throughout the kitchen. One of the chefs gives a hands-on demonstration of some of the many steps that are required for making a delicious apple strudel. I was actually fascinated by some of this because it was so different than any strudel I have ever had in America. The dough is light and billowy, enough that she could blow air beneath it and have it stretch into a big bubble without puncturing it. I was worried that I wouldn't get to partake in the desserts because of a nut allergy, but that was not an issue. The apple strudel was delicious! The experience isn't long. It's probably thirty minutes tops but we enjoyed ourselves. I completely understand that this is more of "touristy" experience than taking a peek into the inner workings of a restaurant's kitchen. I'm perfectly fine with that.

I was worried this place was over-hyped and more of a place you have to "check off the list" than somewhere you want to eat because of the food. If you have any doubts like I did, forget about them because this was actually the best schnitzel we had on our trip! Their potato salad and tomato salads, also amazing! I love that they had option for their schnitzel - the chicken and original were our favorites! Definitely check this spot out when in Vienna - you won't be disappointed!

I had a reservation at 11:30am and there was already an insane line just to get in. Then once they opened the doors other groups of people completely ignore the line outside and just start rushing in. They're in absolutely no rush to seat you so don't have any hope that they'll let you in early. Once you're seated the service is pretty fast. The schnitzel is quite large and good for sharing. I had the original schnitzel with pork. It was thin and crispy but under seasoned in my opinion. The potato salad was the star for me I could have had one all to myself. It was creamy, a little sweet, and tangy. I also tried the soup with clear beef broth and sliced pancakes. Nothing memorable but a nice clean soup if you're in the mood.
