It's a customer-service business - get with the times. And come on - the colour scheme is green. I'm not American but I agree with D'Angelo Barksdale: "Money be green". Or at least it should be. And green and black are the only acceptable colours for credit and debit cards - in my world, at least. I also like the fact I'm on a account with free fully loaded rewards Visa, no-fee foreign ATM usage, preferred exchange rates, US banking and a included safety deposit box. The only major downside is that it's relatively hard to find a TD ATM. Unlike CIBC (partnered with 7-11) and RBC (partnered with Chevron) - you pretty much have to visit a TD if you want to save a buck or two on ATM fees. But I found it extremely awesome that TD has branches in NYC and a few other major urban hubs in US East Coast. So why so harsh on the rating? Well - the customer service is actually *too 'good'* for my liking - it feels forced. I do the majority of my banking online - and only go to the bank in person when absolutely necessary. I can tolerate strained customer chitchat in most cases - but I *loathe* chitchat when I'm dealing with money. Don't speak to me when I'm handling money, entering a password/PIN or at the urinal - I'm handling items of high value, don't distract me. I need to focus. ... no, I don't want to talk about why I'm grabbing so much USD in clean, crisp bills... ... no, it's not for Illuminati tithes or for a ransom... ... yes, I am travelling somewhere - I don't see why 'where' is relevant... ... yes, I am aware it is cold/hot/rainy/dry lately... ... no, I don't care about how the local sports and/or college team is doing... ... yes, I have heard about these 'Canucks'... ... yes, I'm aware you don't think I should keep so much in my chequing account... ... no, I don't want to speak to a financial advisor/buy product... ... yes, I am in a hurry... ... yes, I am getting annoyed... ... seriously, all these questions... what are you? A cop? I'm not usually so standoff-ish - but I really don't want to launch into a public conversation with a stranger that has access to my financial information. Some people might like this fawning and friendly 'customer service' - but please, in the words of the warrior-poet Ol' Dirty Bastard: "Girl, you better give me that money! Aow!" Just be anonymous and service me like a... well... you get the idea. Once TD ATMs dispense US cash - I'll give them 5-stars. When it comes to banking, I prefer the cold, hollow embrace of a machine... they know to avoid eye contact when I'm handling money.

I went to renew my house mortgage. Person assigned to me was an imperial advisor. This means he is one of their banking experts. I can honestly say I have never been treated so rude or unprofessional by any business ever, and I am not exaggerating. It was like he had a personal grudge against me. Long story short he offered me a horrible rate. When I expressed my concerns he was unbelievably rude and unhelpful. I told him I would likely look for better alternatives. He point blank told me I had no choice and I would not pass the new mortgage stress test and I better take it or the deal won't be so good later. I hung up and proceeded to search elsewhere. By coincidence the mortgage broker I dealt with from CIBC initially called me about a potential investment property I was considering. At the time he asked about how my renewal for my personal residence was going. I explained to him the issues. He advised this treatment was unacceptable and that CIBC by internal practice had to match the rate of the lowest competitive quote I obtained. He proceeded to tell me he would have the manager of the branch call me to fix this. He could not help me as he only dealt with new business, not existing clients. A couple days later the manager called and her name was Atul??? Rather than assisting me she to had the same attitude towards me. Again she treated me like I had wronged her also. I had never met her prior to this call. Needless to say she did not help me out and passed me onto another individual whom left me a message with another terrible rate and told me I would have switch immediately to the new rate as it was a limited time offer and could be guaranteed for 60 days when my renewal was due. Needless to say I moved on and found a better rate and saved $16840.00 over a 5 year fixed mortgage. I have moved all my business away from CIBC and as result will never go back. The issue here is if this branch treats customers like this no one will bank here. Worst management and staff I have ever dealt with. Run away My new bank is awesome. CIBC has a huge problem. I would even venture to say their tactics is illegal. To use the mortgage stress test as a false tactic is beyond imaginable. If CIBC does not believe me they should check their call recordings. I come from a large customer service firm and if any of our staff or managers responded this way to customers they might get away with once but second time they would be out of a job.

We never received any paper work with an "offer" I honestly thought our mortgage was delayed 3 months as we had to take payment relief durning Covid. Note, I do take full responsibility for not being aware of the renewal date. The day we had the appointment (4.5 business days before renewal) the lender just sat back with a "smart" look and said "what term can we sign you up for?" He didn't ask us about "Our" needs, Our goals? We asked ... well what are you offering? The rates he gave us compared to other Financial Institutions was higher!! We advised that our mortgage broker gave us a couple rates from the TD that she was able to secure that day for another client When we gave those numbers to the lender he was not able to make a decision nor his Supervisor. After waiting until the next day ... "Upstairs" wouldn't even budge from the rates offered the day before!!! No negotiation!!! We have been with BS Financial for 9 years and have never felt like we were treated well. I'm not even sure why we stayed. I guess if you don't have a Million dollar mortgage with them then you're not in their "affluent" category Word of advise. Shop around for rates and other services offered by other Financial Institutions. It's your life! Your retirement! The banks don't care about you. You are just a number!!! The marketing team hit the nail on the head when they changed the name from North Shore Credit Union to BS Financial BS Financial & their so called Financial Spas are a bunch of BS!!!! All talk no action... I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND this Financial Institution

I put all if my direct deposit there, transfered money, used the account, everything was fine for the first few weeks. Then I had the audacity to use their online deposit function on their app for a check I got from my now former employer. This is where the nightmare begins with RBC and this branch in particular. So I think everything is fine so I go to login online and have no access. I call in, they say they just want ID on file for me and to pop by any local branch so I do so. Then they say no, they also want my passport. This was frustrating but oh well, I bring my passport. Then they say oh no, go to your local branch. I asked why I wasn't advised this last time, they had no answer. I've spent hours now in the phone and in person trying to fix this. Finally I'm directed to this Edgmont location, thinking my troubles were over I was received. Oh boy was I wrong, this is when it gets EXTRA ridiculous. I should preface thus by noting I'm younger looking with tattoos and piercings. So I finally am at the "correct" bank. I get up to the teller, explain my situation, they look displeased, and go get someone. I'm taken to an office, told they had to make calls. I'm sitting there for over an hour and they come back and tell me I'll have to come back next Monday. Next Monday?! But it's been a week, they've had the check, I've shown two pieces of ID, and they are familiar with the employer since I had direct deposit. But no, even though it had already been a week, I was told I'd have to wait another week. They refused to give me a valid reason. I'm pretty sure if a rich fancy person came in to deposit a check in a new account, they would not be treated like this. I try calling but am told I have to wait the week again. My final visit other than closing my account happened that Monday. I go in, I'm taken to the office, I show them paperwork, IDs, paystub, and etc. After an hour of the same questions I had answered a million times. I was told I have access to my accounts again TWO WEEKS LATER. Then, and this is the REALLY good part. To add insult to injury due to the "incident" aka me using their system to deposit a valid check from my employer, they will no longer allow me to have access to e-transfers for at least 6 months. I was obviously upset, I asked why this would be, since I had access to them before. They said it was because I was a new customer, I explained again, that I had access before, then she said again it was due to the "issue". Like what? Seriously? So because you thought I looked suspect you made me jump through a bunch oh hoops. Then you found out I was legit, it was your error, but instead of apologizing, you try and penalize me further? Was this to help justify the egregious and discriminatory hold on my funds? When I signed up, 10 biz days max was what my contact specified. I finally got my money and they new restriction on the 12th. My contract also said I had transfers. So why have you broken contract so many times? Why are you discriminating against certain clients? Why are you breaching contract? How did you allow this to happen? Take my advice and chose literally any other bank.
