So I always bank with TD. I think they are the best based on their hours, the number of ATMs…read moreavailable, the number of branches and convenient locations. That said I do think this is the best location downtown. Even though it is not the closest branch to me, it's the one I always do my banking at when I need to walk in. It is always clean and I feel safe handling large amounts of cash here. They are always helpful and things go smoother than other locations, and the line seems to move faster. The staff is super competent and helpful, and often offers me things I hadn't been aware of (credit increases etc) without me having to ask. Most importantly it smells clean and feels secure. Not to sound mean but at the Davie and Burrard street location they lack the security necessary for their location. Once at that location I had to stand in line behind a man who had his whole naked bum hanging out and nobody blinked. I've also seen people having mental breakdowns in that location that seem scary, and there's no one to do anything. I understand all kinds of people need to use the bank, but feeling safe and comfortable in the place where I'm handling my money is super important to me. I love this location and suggest everyone frequent it if their other option is Davie and Burrard. It's only a 15 minute walk from the other location.

Before I came to Vancouver, I went into a Wells Fargo branch in Seattle (Wells Fargo has been my…read morefamily's bank for decades) to get some of my money changed into Canadian dollars. Even as a bank member, I got a grumpy attitude, slow service, and I had to fill out two different forms and show my ID just to withdraw $140 (CDN) from my own checking account. Contrast that my experience with at this particular TD branch: I walked in, and even though I was not even a member of the bank, nor even a citizen of their great socialist-Obamacare-having IslamoMarxist country, within less than a minute I was able to exchange $80 + change in US dollars for $80 (CDN). No paperwork, just a small receipt showing the exchange rate (the Canadian dollar is worth more than our own, my fellow Americans!) and some great interaction with the super-nice teller who asked me about my scarf and discussed my travel plans with me. Quick, painless, pleasant, and convenient (that's what she said). And when I went into the same branch several days later to exchange for another $40 (CDN), I got the same quick service and great attitude from a different teller. For shame, Wells Fargo! Thanks, TD!

Their online banking service sucks big time. It asks you to get a confirmation code by SMS or…read morevoice call. If you choose SMS nothing happens. If you choose voice call it takes forever to actually get the code and then instead of copy and paste from your SMS message, you have to manually enter the code. I tried hitting the resend SMS code button a few times and wound up being locked out of my account. I then phoned the branch and was only able to leave a voicemail message to which they promised to call back within the business day. Three consecutive days, I put in the voice mail and never go that call back. Finally I went into the branch and had to wait for the one working teller to finish dealing with another client before I got him to deregister my debit card which I then had to re-register. It seems like BMOs systems are design to waste as much time as possible. My branch is the Columbia Square branch in New Westminster but the online banking experience is probably the same regardless of which branch you use.

Approached this years ago elsewhere and I left that office feeling uneasy, clueless, and I ended up backing out and never contributing because nothing was really explained and it was more simply "trust me I know what I'm doing how much did you want to open the account for today" and none of the "here is what you can look forward to expecting by doing this, investing in yourself today with our help in 20-25 years this is what you can look forward to being able to do" Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day (nearly 2 hours) to help me understand and feel confident what I'm agreeing to will get me what I want, my own home, without taking out a huge mortgage. I don't recall what you said you wanted to become as your end goal, but you're going to be great at it. You're patient and good at explaining things Please note the current other yelp pics for this location is wrong. The pictures used are for BURRARD location. The ones at BENTAL TOWERS to be exact. I came to this TD bank location on a weekday in the mid afternoon…read more VERY slow service at the front counter. There were 4 tellers at the front counter but they were very slow processing customers at a reasonable pace. There were 6 customers in front of me yet i waited 30 minutes for my turn. They are either really slow or they don't place enough bank tellers at the front counter. Actually, there were lots of staff around but most of them weren't serving the customers in line. When i got to the very front, at least 10 more people were in line behind me. Other customers lining up were frustrated and were talking to themselves about how slow the queue was. The bank teller I talked to seemed distracted because she was not looking at me when she was talking. When i tried to do a little small talk she didn't give eye contact, had low energy, and gave very short responses. Felt sorry for her because she looked overwhelmed based on her body language. She almost shortchanged me the $60 I gave her when i tried to pay a bill but i corrected her. I think she just misspoke because the receipt was correct, but she must have had something else on her mind at the time and got confused for a second. Usually at other busy TD bank locations, there is a staff member asking customers in line if they have any quick questions about anything. They did show up but that was about 25 minutes after i arrived. 2 stars out of 5 based on this visit. I admit that that the bank teller didn't screw anything up, and everything was completed correctly. But I will avoid this location in the future because i wasted a lot of time waiting in line (30 minutes!). They really need to fix their slow service and the underwhelming overall customer service experience. I suggest that some of the staff take the initiative to go to the front counter and serve customers when the line is moving too slowly, as they do at the grocery store.

I am usually patient, but this branch does not put customers first. I was close to the area so I thought to drop by. Total mistake. Why is it that there is an inadequate amount of good beside manners or service? I have been a client of TD for decades and I have to say I am fed up and ready to go to another bank. DO NOT go here if you value your time. NB: nobody wants subpar service

First off. This bank is one that you will be guaranteed to be discriminated against if you are not…read moreChinese by the all Chinese staff. I went in on Friday and the teller all smiles said she would need a piece of ID in addition to my bank card because the terminal 'wasn't working properly'. She seemed very surprised when I handed her a valid driver's license with my present address on it. 'Oh let's try the terminal...oh it works!' Magically! I didn't say it but I thought 'Do I look dumb?'! Really. I had a question about whether I could get separate my account into two different balances as I am saving my my daughters tuition and a Christmas visit. The Asian manager (sorry, as I said they are all Asian- I guess they didn't get the memo about our multi-cultural society. But they did a have the requisite Indian security guard- I guess in this case their all Chinese policy has an exception), was rude and said I would have to pay $5 for any transaction including deposits if I changed anything on my account. Oh sounds great, thanks for your help. I took my $3000 deposit to my other bank where they have no problem performing the aforementioned service free of charge. I am sorry to disturb your all Chinese party but don't assume that every white person is a penniless drug addict. You just lost a good customer. Perhaps the discrimination I received was just bad luck? If you are Chinese I bet you will receive decent service here. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this China Town branch.
