Decided to give this place a try since I'll be working out this way for awhile, and let me tell you. I had a Osmanthus Olong milk tea with honey boba and pudding. This drink hits the spot for me! They use real brewed tea, and the boba was nice and flavorful. The pudding was good. Asked to make it using 1/2 the usually sweetness and it tasted just right. Plus they have 2 tiny outdoor tables to sit down and have your tea, and the front is facing away from the sun so during summer afternoons you'll be in the shade. There is only one kiosk to order from, and I got the mango matcha latte with boba. It was pretty close to my all-time favorite drink that I get from Little Sweet in SF. [During Covid Review] Located in a very small plaza it's easy to miss, but their sign is big enough that you can locate it. I wouldn't say they have a lot of parking because they do share their lot with a couple other stores. So perhaps a total of 12 spots? My fiancé and I were craving some boba and decided to give this place a try rather than going to a spot we have been before. Walk right in and you'll see that all the seats are pushed to the side of the room. The place does try to keep all the seats 6 feet apart. I noticed that there was an employee who would always wipe down the counter where the drinks were served with Lysol or something, but I never saw seats being wiped down. So they do "try" keep things clean. When ordering, they have cute keychains of boba that you can buy which is cute. It was pretty easy to order and they try to limit the amount of contact. They have a contactless payment which is nice. If you check in via Yelp, you do get 10% off your order. I ordered the passion sunset with less ice and 25% sugar. Gotta say that my drink was VERY sweet despite my asking for 25% sugar and had a lot of ice. My fiancé tried my drink and asked if I asked for regular sweetness and I told him no. Needless to say, this drink wasn't to my liking. The appearance was nice, but in terms of taste...no thanks. The reason why I give this place two stars is because of how sweet the drink was, but also the fact that it took 30 minutes for me to get my drink. I ordered my drink and while I was waiting, 3 people came in and ordered. Guess what...they got their drinks before me. So I was at a loss for words as to why my drink was made so slow. Overall, presentation of drinks was nice but the amount of time I had to wait for my drink and the slow service doesn't make me want to go back there again unfortunately. read more

My son suggested we try this tea place, instead of one of the others we have been to in Palo Alto. We love hot tea and it is hard to find a place that can do it right. I got their seasonal pumpkin spiced milk tea. It was delicious! My son ordered Osmanthus Oolong with 25% sweetness. He said it was good, but nothing special. I am not a fan of Osmanthus and know that some of their other premium teas or specialty drinks would be fun to try. We definitely plan on going back. Drinks: Purple roses: 1/5 it was incredibly syrupy. I was incredibly displeased. The combination ended up tasting like a weird cherry flavor medicine with hints of rose flavoring. On top of all that I got a stomach ache after drinking this drink. Strawberry jasmine: my friend got this and said it tasted like a strawberry smoothie. Ocean potion: I honestly don't even remember it's flavor. It was so generic to the point where I wasn't even sure what I was drinking. Lavender love: 1/5 lavender love had no lavender taste. It tasted like lemonade. Ordering it I was already weary because some places can make the lavender scent so strong that it tastes like soap, but there was not a single taste of lavender. I'm really upset I paid around $5 for a cup of lemonade. It was also kind of watered down as well. Honestly the only thing going for these drinks are their aesthetic. I was drawn by the cool colors. However, the taste was all syrup. I was incredibly disappointed by this. I would much rather have a less aesthetic drink if it means that the ingredients are fresh and fragrant. Came here to grab boba for my partner and I after work and this place was the closest. 1- lady at the front wasn't nice. I self ordered but wanted to pay at the cashier. There was an option on the self checkout to complete payment at the cashier in front versus at the kiosk, so I did just that. Then she proceeds to tell me that I can pay at the kiosk next time. I'm aware, but didn't want to. Why provide the option if you don't want the option to pay upfront? 2- drinks sucked. So watered down and had no flavor. Will not be coming back. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but this is somewhat ridiculous. I come in on my lunch break to order two drinks for me and and a coworker. There was only one worker and there were a couple of mistakes. I ordered the double O milk tea drink and it's missing the egg pudding I ordered. It tastes watered down as well. I go to this shop on my way to work every now and then and I try to give it the opportunity to be good but it's always a hit or miss. A positive is that it's more affordable than other boba places but then you also sacrifice consistency and risk getting a bad drink. It's either the drink is too watery or the tea is over steeped. I went again just last week and it was so bitter that I had to toss it out after a couple of sips because the tea was over steeped. I'd rather spend a couple extra dollars to get a drink that I know is going to be good. They need to do some work to re-work their recipes and ensure consistency considering how many boba places are in the area! read more

Very disappointed with tea friends and their delivery. I ordered a milk tea through yelp (fulfilled by grub hub) and was super disappointed to receive my boba without the boba straw. Since the top is vacuum sealed and I didn't have utensils or a straw, I had to jam my hand in to the top of my boba which caused boba to squirt out everywhere and on my clothes. I then drank my drink without using the straw so I was not able to drink the boba pieces until the end when the milk tea drink was done. It overall really wasn't enjoyable especially for a $16 boba. I called grub hub to ask for at least a partial refund and was told they have "no recourse" and will not provide any amount back or do anything to fix the situation (like provide a boba straw). When you order through yelp, you pay the merchant (tea friends) directly and then they pay grub hub after. Even if your order is wrong or missing something, etc they will not fix it or refund you. Highly disappointing and am sad to say I wouldn't go here again because of the bad experience and because of their partnership with grub hub. read more

Food: - Passion Sunset--$5.50 This drink was one of the Tea It Up specials that was recommended and I'm glad I got it because it was exactly what I needed. As it is described on the menu, it was a refreshing mix of passion fruit and lychee flavors, enhanced with a hint of berry. This is a pretty good boba spot if you're in the Menlo area and looking to try a new spot. I ordered the Ocean Potion because I really liked the color of the drink, and it's definitely very pretty! I reduced the sweetness so it wasn't too sweet for me, and boba itself was on the softer side and less chewy than I would prefer. The strawberry jasmine is another one of their more popular drinks, which you can get either as a slush or as a regular tea. Both ways are pretty good, just depending on what you're feeling, but either way this drink is nice and refreshing. When I visited there was no indoor seating, and there was one or two small tables right outside the shop, but the curb is pretty tight as is, so my group and I had our drinks in our cars for more space. Thankful that there is a decent boba shop in Menlo Park ! During COVID-19, it is very easy to order online and pick up. I tried the passion fruit green tea which I always order at shops when I'm testing them out. It didn't taste artificial, which is what I'm looking for, and importantly, it still had a distinct tea flavor. The boba was pretty soft, maybe even borderline too soft, but still pretty good and not too sweet. 50% sweetness was just right for me. Happy that this is here. I love blended fruit teas. The sweetness of the fruit, the slight bitterness of the tannins in the tea, and the crunchy bits of crushed ice make for a deliciously refreshing drink. It has been a challenge for me to find boba shops in the local area that serve this specific type of drink, so I definitely will be a repeat customer. I ordered the "refreshing lychee" from their blended tea series. It was tasty, but on the sweeter side for me. The employees were friendly and knowledgeable. I asked about their sweetness level and she said that their drinks tend to be sweeter. I ordered the drink with 25% sweetness and it was pretty close to the max of my sugar tolerance. I'll be back to try the other flavors from their blended tea series, but they all seem to be sweeter fruits (i.e., mango, peach, strawberry). I wish they had another fruit like grapefruit, so there's a little more bitterness and citrus flavor to balance the sweetness. Also, please have compostable straws! I ordered it with 50% sugar (which is normally perfect for me), but it seemed like Tea It Up drinks are less sweet to begin with. I was expecting it to be a little sweeter. The genmaicha flavor was really rich, though! The boba was also soft and fresh. No old pearls here! We got the blended sweet peach with peach bits, and premium matcha latte. The former is unique, with a jasmine tea base with a small amount of finely crushed ice. Y'all, this place is such a gem in Menlo Park! I honestly like this place more than others (some of the competitors being Teaspoon or Mr. Green Bubble). The staff is always friendly and the boba is always fresh. I've never consistently had boba as chewy and yummy, than as they do at Tea It Up. It can get a little crazy after school hours, since kids like to come here for an after school snack, so I try to avoid those hours. Every other time that I've come in the early afternoon, it's always quick and delicious! I get the Jasmine Green Milk Tea with some boba and it's a fave. Would recommend giving it a try! read more

The mango forever with lychee jelly tasted great! Both drinks are more in the sugary side but you can adjust the sugar level from 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% sugar. I found this shop on Yelp on my last evening in Menlo Park and decided to try the California "boba tea" to see how it's different from our New York "bubble tea". Got there at 7:30PM and this place was pumping! Two groups waiting in the store, and one group leaving. It took 15 minutes for me to order, and another 10 minutes until the drink was ready, and the entire time I was praying I wasn't wasting my final evening here. Guess what? I wasn't! I ordered a classic milk tea and it was so delicious. and the boba was soft. The tea was strong and creamy. Their size is huge too. Kept me up at night a bit but it was totally worth it. This place is horrible, my husband and I got two drinks, one milk tea and one fruit tea thinking we'd get the luck of the draw and one would be decent but to our demise they were both horrendous. Fruit tea was very watered down, and milk tea was literally just a cup of milk. Should have just gone to Bober down the street to be honest. read more
