Storefront at the former Cafe St. Jorge
    Cherylynn N.

Serendipity It's all about being at the right place, at the right time. I mean look at hawk tuah girl now. =T Rogelio, co-owner told me their dog is the reason they're here. He led them to this space and the next thing you know, they're signing a lease. Soft opening this week is Tea Rex Cafe & Specialty Tea (took over Cafe St. Jorge). It's from the owners behind Cafe RX and SF Herb. Open for takeout and dine-in for now. Dog-friendly outdoor seating. Soft opening hours: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 2 pm. Weekend hours: TBD. M E N U Coffee, tea, and kid-friendly drinks (non-caffeinated): lemonade, steamers, etc. Oat milk, soy milk, or almond milk available (+ 50 cents). Whipped cream available (+ 50 cents) to make trending einspänner. For food, they have pastries, salads, sandwiches, bagels, quesadilla, etc. Nothing is over $12.95. D R I N K * Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea ($4) I wrongly assumed this was a new boba shop, it's not. I asked if they have any milk teas, and the co-owner, Daniel offered to make me one by brewing hot tea and adding milk + sugar. When he came outside, he saw the color was off (too milky) so he offered to make me a new one that's more tea forward. The oolong based tea is fragrant with a nice milkiness. F O O D * Free-Range Chicken Sandwich w/ marinated chicken, sweet chilies, raw onions, roma tomatoes, pepper jack cheese, side organic greens ($11.95): https://tinyurl.com/4uz8r52s The toasted filone roll is filled with flavorful marinated chicken breast (not commercial, processed, or salty) and sautéed button mushrooms with a light sprinkling of cheese. The filone is a cross between a baguette and ciabatta, crusty with a great chew. It was a deliciously savory sandwich with a sweet tang but I would add extra cheese next time for those cheese pulls. Served with dressed greens for balance. S E R V I C E Welcoming staff with awesome hospitality. Good vibes all around. A M B I A N C E Casual cafe with a 7-8 tables and two tables outside. They have a large collection of house teas on display. Not sure if they're all available yet. P A R K I N G Difficult street parking. Overall, Tea Rex is a great addition to Bernal-Mission. Looking toward to them expanding their tea collection so I can try their other [milk] teas.

    Chicken quesadilla and breakfast quesadilla

Tea Rex Cafe is a gem in my neighborhood. I had the chicken quesadilla is my favorite dish to get here. It was so filling - crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. My husband ordered the breakfast quesadilla with crab meat, and wow -- it was loaded with egg, crab, and avocado. It's hard to finish everything. We also had the shakerato, which was very refreshing and gave me a caffeine hit (and actually not too sweet). The owners, Daniel and Rogelio, are incredibly sweet and welcoming - you can tell they really care about the place and their customers.

This place is legit. Great sandwich, homemade hot sauces and gochujuang, nice people...I need to go back for the tea! Quite affordable too.

Banana bread just out of the oven & elderberry tea
    Caya S.

I've been meaning to come to this cafe since it opened a year ago, and I'm so glad my friend invited me to Tea Rex today for tea & breakfast. First of all, it's so beautiful inside with lots of plants and artwork. The food is amazing and they give you such generous portions for good prices. My friend got the breakfast sandwich and I got the avocado toast & both came with really nice side salads. I ended up staying after to work and the owner and his brother were both so kind. Later, I got the banana bread fresh out of the oven & it was heaven. The elderberry tea was both delicious & immune boosting. I will definitely be coming back here with my kids, with friends and when I need a nice place to work. I cannot recommend enough!

    Menu - ingredients constantly changing!

Went for lunch and was pleasant surprised. Ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was very tasty. They use rotating ingredients and everything tastes fresh and delicious. Ordered a genmaicha tea as well and they gave me the tea bag that was used in a little plastic to go bag in case I wanted to steep it again. Very impressed and will be back for more!

quinoa salad - pink from the beets. apples! balsamic! high quality lettuce. the crispy fried onions made this god-tier.
    Liz H.

I had lunch here today! The food was great & the vibes immaculate! The quinoa beet salad was so delicious & complex - beets, apples, balsamic, i think some (rehydrated) dried cranberries were in there too - and crispy onions. Perfection. The potato mushroom soup was also fire. It's a calm atmosphere, there's a couple of little tables outside, this is a great addition to the neighborhood (though we all miss St. Jorge!). The coffee is also good. You won't be disappointed. They don't yet have wifi ironed out, but I'm sure that will come. This is going to be a hub of the neighborhood, it's really clear.

Wonderful ambiance, super kind and attentive staff, beautiful shop. My shakerato was wonderful, next time I will try a tea and discover what a cragel is! Wholesale teas, light lunch fare, light pastries, and drinks. Wifi, outlets, indoor and outdoor seating (also may have heard a rumor about an impending patio?!). Super clean, bright, and dinosaur themed! Will be back, a great addition to the evergrowing Mission-Bernal strip.

So excited to have a new cafe in the old Cafe St Jorge spot!! Tea Rex is super cute, great food, lovely people behind the counter, and overall an awesome addition to the neighborhood. They serve breakfast and lunch, and change the menu frequently to offer what's in season. The couple that started it are often here, and also own Cafe RX in the nonprofit building in the Presidio! Came here first with my mom and sister for brunch and had the niçoise salad and a nutella cragel (croissant bagel) and had a gorgeous cup of rose tea that was brewed perfectly. I'm back today and had the chef salad with avocado and chicken and it was also great.

Amazing food, coffee and tea at reasonable prices. TeaRex is my go to spot for breakfast and a coffee, the granola bowl is amazing and fresh, and the soups/salads are made fresh as well. Having cool owners is also a great bonus
