We ordered fried lemongrass pork chop salad and crispy chicken. Fried lemongrass pork chop had no flavor. The salad was very limp and it felt like it was not washed. We barely touched our plate. However the crispy chicken was tasty. Overall the place wasn't clean. The cashier wasn't nice. While we are eating, the worker (she's the same cashier person) sprays cleaning product straight on the table next to us while we're eating. We won't be coming back. read more

Had a 'mango icy' which is pretty much your typical mango slush with boba order. It was pretty good. Mango slushes are definitely one of my favorite go-to drinks at boba/tea places. This location across from PCC near the intersection of Colorado & Hill was quite busy on a Monday night. Lots of students and regulars on their laptops, it seemed. Service was friendly so I contributed a dollar and some change to the tip jar. Got a thank you from the girl at the counter... That's always good. I tried many items here and my favorite is the shaved snow. Back before covid when I was able to dine in, they were really generous by the amounts of snow, mango, and rainbow jelly they added to the mango shaved snow I got. Dont forget to enter in your five stars number because you will get a free drink on your birthday no matter how infrequent you come in. I also got their smoothies, pina colada flavor, which was good, but I have to say their tea sucks and is really artificial. I got the thai tea with boba in the past and it just is not worth coming here for the tea, unless you are not able to drive a few miles out to another place. I think this place is popular and more highly rated is because they are by PCC. Popcorn chicken is also pretty dry and inconsistent. The first time I got a popcorn chicken rice plate and it was okay, but the next time it was more subpar and disappointing. I came here to leave a review for the beef noodle stew. I am a big fan of beef noodle stews, and I understand every chef or restaurants does differently. Though here, it's another level of disappointment, the best way to describe it is "soul less beef noodle stew". I used to come here a lot, back in my college days. One of my friends decided to meet up for dessert and we spent such a great time here. This place is nothing fancy but it's clean and employees are friendly. They have a little bit of everything. The prices are very reasonable and that's why you'll find a lot of students coming here, like I used to, to eat and study at the same time. They have free wifi and electric outlets to charge your computers. It's very convenient. The only issue is the parking lot. It's limited and if you park here you're taking the risk to get your car hit. I know that by experience. Btw, if you checked in Facebook they'll give you a free add-on. I used to be a regular here. If I used Yelp three or four years ago, I would've checked in at least three times a week. Tea Spots was my favorite because it was close to campus, stayed open until reasonably late, had ample tables and sufficient wifi, and best of all, cheap (but good enough) food and drinks. They took my student ID for a drink discount, and I had a five star card that gave me every eleventh drink free. If you were patient, thirty drinks got you a free shirt. I opted for three drinks instead of a shirt. Man, I got so many free drinks back in the day... There was even one day when I got three drinks. (When I was a frosh...) And then two years ago, they "upgraded." Nothing changed but the price and the interior decor. Instead of a free drink, ten drinks got you $3 off the next drink. My biggest disappointment was the price. I don't know what they were trying to accomplish, but Tea Spots had a special, student-friendly niche before, and suddenly that niche was empty. Nothing can replace what Tea Spots used to be. Also, if you do come, pee before. I wouldnt recommend using the restroom. read more

I used to be a regular when I lived in the area and I had many nights studying here. I happen to love their iced drinks and have tried many flavors over the past few years. The food is also pretty good, they have lots of choices to choose from on both the drink and food menus. My favorite drink is the Pineapple green tea with less sugar. When I need to wake up I have one of these. The service is also pretty good and the staff is very friendly. With that being said, the only down side for me is the parking. The parking kinda sucks due to PCC traffic . If you can get past the parking you may want to try Tea Spots out. read more

Update 3/9/15: 3 stars for average tea but bumped up to 4 stars for good food ------ On my first visit, I tried a regular sized earl grey milk tea ($3.87 after tax) and thought it was just okay. The tea didn't taste like earl grey at all, and the regular size was small considering the price and quality. However, the boba was better than I expected; chewy and with decent brown sugar (?) flavor, I'd rank it better than Tea Station but not as good as Half and Half. Otherwise, I would have given it 2 stars. If I can't get the boba for free from Yelp check ins, I probably wouldn't get tea again. On my return visit, I was pleasantly satisfied with the food I ordered: - Beef stew noodle ($7.50). It's the same thing as beef noodle soup/牛肉麵. The stew meat was super soft while the broth was light, but flavorful with a hint of anise spice. When I saw they included pickled mustard greens with the bok choy, I raised my eyebrows because that's pretty legit! Now I usually hate those mustard greens, but the flavor was mild and added complexity to the soup. The noodles were just okay, but not bad. Portion was also huge; I'm getting two meals out of this. - Popcorn chicken ($5). Yum! The portion is fitting for the price. Not to mention, each chunk of chicken is a good sized piece of white meat. All of the boba spots close to home charge an arm and leg for a small drink. Definitely get more drink for your buck at Tea Spots... AND their Five Star reward program was a great way to earn free drinks (now they have updated to $3off type specials, but still decent since I would go there regardless)... I have had their egg rolls on a quick hunger already here moment, but not much else. Parking can be a pain, but you are in and out relatively quickly if the line is short. Inside it's cute... trendy homely vibe with stools that look like big beanbag chairs. If I went to PCC I could see myself there almost daily. Staff is usually either super nice... but sometimes give off an air of needing to be quick rather than nice - as if the two are separate units... that part is totally objective so give them a chance since they usually deliver service with a smile. This place is a nostalgic place for me because of all the times I've spent in Tea Spots during my college days in PCC. Never been here in such a long time until recent craving for popcorn chicken when I was in Pasadena area. Went here on a Thursday night around 7pm, the place was super packed, mostly with college students cramming to get their homework done. That night, the line to order was so long because the cashier was probably new, so she was really slow. I got the popcorn chicken, my bro got the minced beef noodle, and my friend got the popcorn chicken rice. After enduring such a long time to order, luckily the food came out pretty quick. But, the popcorn chicken was so disappointing for all of us. It was not as tasty and as crispy as other places'. We all liked the beef noodle better than the popcorn chicken. Me and my roommates have been WAITING for this place to open! I use to live by Dragonfly Cafe in Rowland so when i saw they were putting a boba place right next to my apartment complex i was excited. Not too sweet which i appreciate. Ive also tried the mango black tea,thai tea and mocha smoothie. They were all really good and the prices arent ridiculous. Time for food. I've been to a few other tea stores in Pasadena but for the best Thai Tea, I will always recommend Tea Spots. Of course, they serve a lot of other things but I'm a Thai Iced Tea fanatic and that's my go to. So anytime I find a great Thai Tea, I shout that from the rooftops! It's a cozy spot. Booths and tables. You can usually catch a mix of students and tea aficionados hanging out. I went around 10 and it was still pretty busy but not too long of a wait. Good place to get delivery! I ordered via DoorDash and got a 32 ounce Thai tea with no sugar or ice (I add sweetener myself) and a Hainanese chicken rice plate. The Thai tea was perfect and had no sweetness which I loved since most places will give you one loaded with sugar anyways. It could have been just a touch creamier but I understand ordering without ice sometimes throws off the balance. The Hainanese chicken was good, a little bit dry for thigh meat but the flavors were good and the ginger sauce was good as well. I loved the veggies that came in the plate; they were soft and cooked deliciously. My biggest issue with the Hainanese chicken rice is that the rice was just place white steamed rice; it didn't have broth in it the way this dish usually has. Our drinks came out pretty fast. I got the jasmine milk tea half sweet with boba and my hubs got the regular milk tea. Both had pretty good flavor and weren't too sweet.
