My partner and I returned to the Tea Yard tonight because we wanted some more of their delicious teas. The last time we were here, the matcha tornado had been marked as discontinued. This time, although that sign was still up over one menu, the rest of them were not. So, I took a chance and ordered it. I asked for half sugar, because I usually ask for 25%, but I figured with matcha frappe, I might need a little. It turned out good, but I think I expected more of the creme brulee to be present, and that was my mistake. It was mainly a matcha frappe (matcha and ice blended together) with a hint of the creme brulee along the side. By 1/3 of the way down, my mouth was numb from the cold. I probably won't order this one again, at least not in 30 F weather- haha. My partner got the same drink as last time, except this time he ordered a large. He got the brown sugar milk tea; 50% sugar; little ice. Add creme brulee topping. That was delicious, just like last time. The people working here are very sweet. I'm not sure if they are a family, but they seem like it. They work very well as a unit with the young woman at the register, and the elder man and woman making the drinks. The inside is cute. There is one small table and two benched areas with various designs on the walls, and the toy machines toward the back. We are planning to come here more often and try other flavors! read more

Hands down the best boba place in the Oak Lawn area. I've tried many great spots around Chicago/Chinatown and this one gives them a run for their money. The inside of Tea Yard is small but does have a small section of seating. The menu has lots of different options. Plenty of street parking. Both workers were very nice. Ever since I tasted the matcha fraps from Omomo in San Diego during a trip, I have been on the prowl at home for something similar as Starbucks just doesn't cut it. Finally found this gem. I ordered the "matcha tornado" with 25% sugar. Absolutely delicious, with the perfect consistency. The matcha flavor is not overpowering and has just the right amount of sweetness (for me). Decent boba place in Oaklawn, a suburb of Chicago. It was my first time here, and we originally tried to go to another boba place that was listed in Orland Park but it did not exist. My husband warned me that it would not be the same as the boba I get in Los Angeles and it wasn't. I got the Lavender milk tea - which was a little different than I'm used to. My boba was chewy and good, but drink itself was just okay. I did get 75% sweet, so maybe that's why? My hubby got the red date honey milk tea, which was hot and had an interesting taste as well. We were trying to kill some time in the area waiting for a phone to be fixed and decided to drop by this place, and im a little upset i never realized this was here before! We had a taro smoothie and a matcha tea based drink and we both absolutely loved our drinks! Being for the bay area, I know what good Boba taste like (haha). This place had lots of good reviews and an extensive menu, so I know I had to check it out. I got their jasmine milk tea with Boba and my brother got their strawberry milk tea with Boba as well. Their milk teas are really yummy and not too Sweet which I love. This place looks really cute from inside and prettty spacious as well. They have tables and seats on the side to hangout and play board games. There is a summer special menu with guava milk tea, passion fruit tea, and bunch of other flavors. Tea Yard was so delicious and highly worth it! I recommend everyone to try it at least once! During the first wave of stay-at-home order back in May I was forced to move back home from my Apartment up north (surrounded by so many bubble tea options) to the suburbs where bubble tea almost did not exist. Here comes Tea Yard, newly opened bubble tea cafe to my rescue! I found out from my house in the burbs, Tea Yard is only about a 7 minute drive from me which is perfect for a quick boba run :). I ordered my signature drink: Mango Smoothie with Lychee Jelly. The mango tasted very authentic and the amount they gave (at least for smoothies was well worth the name of a large! The lychee also added a good chewable sweetness to the already sweet mango (I have a sweet tooth haha). Unfortunately the inside is closed due to the current pandemic at this time BUT in terms of quality and service its super worth a try!! I do get the same order at every boba place I go to so in terms of my ranking it is not the best mango smoothie I have had but still top 10!! It wasn't too sweet, and you could clearly taste the difference of the brown sugar versus the typical white sugar. The boba was nice and chewy. I find that their tapioca is the freshest when you arrive around noon, right when they open -- it's not quite as popular of a topping here given the neighborhood demographics. So, when I order around 7:15 close to their closing hours, the tapioca isn't as fresh in my opinion. But, their pudding and popping boba definitely hits the spot. I've been coming here still twice a week to keep me sane. Amazing quality tea!!! This is the Tiffany Green Milk Tea and you can tell the tea is good!! The thing that sets them apart from other bubble tea places: They actually brew their tea (excellent quality btw) instead of using powders and their quality customer service :) I also wanted to add that the owners are so sweet and kind. They really care about their customers. I was talking to one of them about how much I love tea and he even gave me a recommendation for another one of their teas. I was craving bubble tea and looked on yelp the closest boba spot and I was happy to see this fairly new shop! I came around 330pm on a Saturday. It's very aesthetic and Instagram worthy! I ordered the peach green tea with boba and mousse and ordered the chocolate milk tea boba for my boyfriend (not much of a boba fan and just wanted basic chocolate milk LOL). She informed me that there would be a 10 min wait for boba which I was fine with, because that means it would be fresh! If I was in a hurry I probably would have skipped the boba. At other boba places I know you're able to tell them exactly how you would like your order. Like how much ice and level of sweetness. There wasn't an option here but my drink was perfect! The peach definitely complimented the green tea, the mousse/foam had a great consistency, and the boba was cooked to perfection. I loved my drink so much!! My bfs chocolate milk tasted good too. Basically chocolate milk with boba LOL There is a $10 minimum for credit cards so good thing I ordered two drinks. Bring cash if you're just ordering for yourself OR stock up on some of their yummy asian snacks. They had a lot to choose from! You order on their website and they will let you know approximately how long the order will take on the site (this number is often inaccurate, sometimes it takes shorter and sometimes it takes longer). They have a decent system of online ordering and they even call you when your drinks are ready. When they are busy, the wait can be longer than I appreciate. I would like to see however some improvements with the online ordering. Some drinks you can guess what they are but for someone who never tried it before, they would be completely lost. I think a little explanation would help many people. Some people would probably order more stuff if they know what is "red bean" for example.
