The bubble tea fairies have granted my wishes! Whenever I was around the Old Orchard Mall area, which tended to be pretty often (due to my work), I was always on the lookout for a cafe or bubble spot place to stop by. I was so excited to see that this place had opened and kept telling myself to stop by one day. Finally, I was able to make that happen and I was definitely pleased with my visit today! The cafe is super cute and inviting! I love how the lighting is bright and the cafe has plenty of seating. I went during a less busy time on weekday evening, but I've definitely passed by on days where the place was packed. The service was friendly and fast and I was overall pleased with the prices of the drinks. They have a wide selection of drinks, but I ended up choosing a standard milk tea with boba. The milk tea was fine, nothing extraordinary, but I appreciated how it wasn't too sweet. My biggest pet peeve is when a drink is too sweet for me to enjoy. I'd love to try their waffles one day. Drinks: Sorry to say, but this was the boba I've ever had. We got the taro and the flavor was so faint, it was too watery and not the slushy quality I like, and the boba wasn't soft melt in your mouth goodness. We also got the brown sugar boba and this was literally whole milk with some honey. I didn't taste any of that burnt/caramel/brown sugar taste it should carry. Ok ok ok...first thing I have to admit is the only reason for driving all the way to TeaRex Bubble Tea Cafe from the city was purely because of the cute T-Rex on the cup. Clearly marketing suckered me in. But the little cafe was extremely quaint. They kept the theme of the cute T-Rex by plastering the mascot on their walls. I got the grapefruit fruit tea with lychee popping boba. I thought the flavor of grapefruit was spot on, but it was overly sweet and by adding the lychee popping boba it made it even sweeter. If they offered the option to custom order the sweetness level like some boba tea places in the city, then it can cater to a larger range of tastebuds. This place is definitely worth a try alone for the cute dinosaur, but I don't think I will be going out of my way to drive back here. Came here during opening week and I wasn't disappointed!! They have so many flavours here you don't normally see in other bubble tea shops. I am not here to criticize the food. And I'm usually not the one to write bad reviews but an employee was simply rude. I walked in and looked at the menu and seeking clarification about something on the menu, I asked an employee (a young boy who was not to be found for 5 minutes). He answered in such a tone that was rude and as if I, as a customer, should know the answer to. I asked again because I still wasn't clear. Once again, he answered in a terrible tone. Now, I say all this because it ruined my one and only experience there. I don't know what kind of day the employee was having but that should not be the tone you talk to customers. This place probably has some of the worst boba tea I've ever had in my life. I normally expect some powders and fake tasting flavors, but this was beyond bad.... It was tooth-achingly sweet without even a hint of real ingredients. I got the Thai tea frozen drink and my boyfriend got the chocolate peanut butter with banana. Mine had no flavor of Thai tea whatsoever, and his was a grey color and tasted like banana candy--yuck. Both were HORRIBLE. We had about 3 sips and then threw them away. Very cute interior design. Seems like a great, cozy place to hang out or study. I got the green tea milk tea. It was pretty good. The tapioca was pretty good, too. Not the best I've had, but would definitely be worth coming back sometime since it's conveniently located off of Golf Road. Fast service and affordable prices. This will be my first and last visit ever to TeaRex Bubble tea. The menu was misleading and there was zero customer support. I ordered 2 watermelon, one banana, and one strawberry. At no time was anything listed or said to me that this was not fruit that was being used. The watermelon tasted like watermelon Jolly Rancher syrup and cream which would be great if you wanted that flavor. I was not told it was blended with non-dairy creamer. When I asked the person who made the drink about it, she acted unconcerned. Terrible service and I ended up throwing out the drink I just purchased and tasted. My numerous travels to China & Hong Kong have kind of made me unofficial expert on Bubble Tea. And TeaRex by far has been amongst my worst experiences with otherwise fun drink. Right from their service, to staff behind the counter to their bubble tea itself, everything here is lackluster & boring to put it mildly. But looking at number of people walking in and out of this place, it looks like I in the minority. Maybe because they're busy but it's rare that they'll pick up the phone to take the order in advance. TeaRex has potential, the space itself is super cute and I love the theme. Where else around here can you find a place dedicated to cute dinosaurs? I came on a random weekday and sadly was the only customer there. Upon looking at the menu, I opted for a basic milk tea and unfortunately found that it could not in fact be unsweetened as I had previously thought. So not really customizable limits me to one drink choice. I ordered the matcha milk tea unsweetened. I prefer to sweeten on my own and found the matcha to taste a bit powdery and unauthentic. Correct me if I am wrong but unless you order a smoothie my guess would be the rest of the "tea" is powdered drinks. Not my choice for milk teas usually. I think with some minor changes such as options to go sugar free as well as more natural ways to flavor their milk teas would serve as a great improvement for this place read more

This is definitely not the best bubble tea I've had in my life, but definitely some of the better bubble tea around the Northwest suburban area. The interior is extremely cute with little dinosaurs everywhere, and the seating is consistently clean and well taken care of by staff as is the bathroom. The staff themselves are really friendly and helpful. Their waffles are delicious, and the toppings that come with them are so good. Definitely something to share. The teas are great, the milk teas sometimes aren't shaken enough but the thai iced tea especially is really delicious. Also love that the creamer is non-dairy. I haven't had problem with their boba the few times I've been, it's not honey boba like some places have, but it is well cooked and chewy. Some of the better tapioca balls I've had. Did not have a chance to try their iced smoothies, but that's next on my list. Overall the pricing is really fair, and for where TeaRex is located, the tea quality isn't bad. read more

Thanks to Yelp, we found TeaRex less than five minutes away from O.O. It's across the street from the Nissan and super close to the highway. However, this isn't a place you could easily access by CTA unless you plan on walking from the CTA stop at O.O. Nestled away on Golf street, TeaRex is truly a hidden gem. When you walk inside, the warm ambiance welcomes you in so graciously. The walls are painted yellow and light green and there are pictures of dinosaurs on the wall which makes this place both kid and adult friendly. With small plants at each table, you truly feel zen after stepping into this place. Even though it was pitch dark outside, I felt like I was in the tropics inside. My fiancé ordered the cookies and creme bubble tea and I ordered the sour raspberry with lychee. I was a little concerned that the sourness would be too much for me but surprisingly it wasn't. It was SO delicious! We didn't wait long for our order but TeaRex became very busy very quickly!! We were able to find a quiet spot but please be aware, there is plenty of space to go around!! My friends and I ordered different ones: honey dew, passion fruit & peach, pina colada and watermelon. Everything tasted so fresh - it didn't taste processed or too sweet. Their toppings such as mango, lychee and tapioca pair well with the bubble tea. Peach and passion fruit with lychee boba was my favorite of the 4.
