BUT, there is the rare moment that I must watch a movie so that I get the FULL experience. Of all the cinemas, I choose to watch at Promenade Cinemas. Their cinemas are great because of the ambience, coziness, and not to mention the great sound system. If you can, try watching your movies at the Dolby Atmos cinema. Also, an essential element to the movie, the popcorn. Their popcorn is always buttery and evenly coated! LOVE IT! :) I always order a bucket for myself (hehe!). Best of all, cinema is always clean and their comfort rooms are spotless! Promenade Cinemas are excellent! You will get your money's worth + the best movie experience! :D

I like watching in Promenade because the cinemas and bathrooms are always clean, the seats are comfortable and they've got more than enough snack options close by. If I'm craving something salty, I buy the popcorn or fries. If I'm looking for something sweet, I buy an almond pretzel from Auntie Anne's. Another thing to consider is that they've got a big Fully Booked branch on the same floor so I usually browse through their new titles before heading in to watch the movie. That or I get lost in the haven of household items that is Gourdo's or the obsessive compulsive's organizing paradise, Beabi. The cinema also prides itself in having the Dolby Atmos sound system in some of the theaters so that's something to keep in mind when you're looking for an immersive cinema experience. Also, Greenhills is always packed on weekends so if you plan on watching a film that's just opened, either come early to buy tickets or prepare to watch at a later time. That also means that parking in the area can be challenging. If you hate to wait, take advantage of the mall's valet service. If there is anything to complain about, it's that their air conditioning is almost always turned up high, so bring a sweater or someone to hug. Or both, I recommend having both.

They've always had at least 8 theaters, and for some years had an extra 4 (4, I think) at the SM Annex, before it renovated and decided to remove them. Today, SM North's 11 cinemas (10 2D cinemas, one IMAX) boast renovated seating, and they aren't too cold, like they used to be, though bringing a sweater or a shawl is always good. I've watched at their IMAX theater, but I've decided I do not like wearing those glasses anymore. What's really good about SM Cinemas is how easy they make it for you to purchase a ticket: (1) Use a pre-loaded ePlus card, and buy on site; if you do, you join the priority queue into the theater, together with senior citizens and PWDs; (2) Go to smcinemas.com, book and pay for your ticket online, and you will be emailed a copy of your receipt and a QR code, that will be scanned at the door; (3) Debit SM Advantage or BDO rewards points (1 pt is to 1 peso) to purchase your tickets at the ticket booth without shelling out any more money. I've tried methods 2 and 3 successfully and very conveniently. While I have an ePlus card, I have to yet to try that - and will let you when I do. As for food - there's the usual popcorn and chips selection next to the theaters, while restaurants inside SM North close at 10pm, which is a bummer for last show viewers. The next best bet is the outdoor balcony trail of restaurants at SM's Sky Garden; most are open till 11, so you have time to tuck in at least a coffee, or from a selection of bar chow places, burgers, and ramen. Parking is best in SM Carpark, the building in the rear; you can get in way past 10, they won't give you a hard time. To shorten your walk and hit the correct bridgeway, drive all the way to the end if your theater of choice is at The Block, the middle, if going to theaters 5-8; and parking close to the ramp gets you nearest to theaters 9-11.

Their cinemas aren't exceptional, but they are adequate enough that our experiences with them have been fully satisfying. They have comfy seats, sufficient leg room, fine temperature, and good sounds and visuals. Firstly, I like the environment of the cinemas in TriNoma. Reserved seating assures an orderly arrangement of viewers inside the cinema. The seats themselves are comfortable, with sufficient room for your legs and baggage, and movable cupholders, which can be used depending on the needs of the viewers. The audiovisual set-up provides the viewer with an experience that enhances the impact of the screened movie on him/her. The service of the cinema staff, from the security guards to those who assist moviegoers to their seats, are generally polite, disciplined, and organized. For instance, they are strict with the exit of moviegoers and the entry of those watching for the next screening time. Although I have yet to see how they respond in terms of emergencies, ample reminders inside and outside the cinemas convince me of the training the staff underwent to ensure quality service to moviegoers. A variety of stalls selling foods and beverages are conveniently available just outside the cinemas, catering to different tastes and preferences of the patrons, although in general, any consumable can be brought inside the cinema. Snack trays and cupholders further add to the organized movie-viewing environment. Despite all these characteristics, TriNoma cinemas have its downsides, too. Buying movie tickets can be a double-edged sword for these cinemas. While there are multiple counters for buying tickets, lines usually pile on, especially during weekend nights. Online purchasing can save up time and provides the choice of reserved seats, although an additional fee for reservations is required and patrons still have to line up anyway. To sum up, TriNoma houses one of the best cinemas in the metropolis due to its organized, efficient system for the intangibles which, combined with a comfortable seating and good audiovisual environment, provides a great movie-viewing experience suitable for people of all ages.

When paying for your tickets you have to choose your seats as they are numbered. Also, prices differ of how long the movie has played in the theater. We were told to pick from a bowl for a prize. We received a free small popcorn. They have a snack bar with some choices. The free popcorn we received was wrapped in saran wrap but it was stale and no butter taste at all. Blah. Going into the theater, it was more like an orchestra set up, eye level and seat sections in three sections. The seats were pretty comfy but ok quality. We sat in the far right upper side and it was still not bad. Good thing the people here are shorter than in the US!! Haha No one seemed to really laugh out loud like us Americans when there were jokes or something funny said or done (watched Spider-Man: Homecoming!)! Hahaha...so embarrassing! Prices are decent and I would watch here again. [71/100]

Shang Cineplex has all the mentioned factors which makes it my favorite place for a movie date (with myself or my friends). Their snack bar does not just involve popcorn and hotdogs but you can also grab a bite from the concessionaires. You can't bring in food from elsewhere though. You don't have to be in the special cinemas just to experience comfortable seating with ample leg room that you don't have to raise your legs each time someone passes by. AC can be quite chilly so I never go here without proper outerwear. But what makes my movie experience even more enjoyable is that I can just bask in its goodness (or lack thereof) without the crowd spoiling or giving annoying remarks and reactions. So if you're in the mood for a peaceful and satisfying place to enjoy a movie, this is definitely it.

The film quality is just not at par in this day and age. It kinda feels like the theatre does not use the digital film technology that should be the benchmark today. The theatre house is awfully cold for my liking. Some people might prefer this. Just bring a spare jacket if things get too cold. It certainly makes drinking a shake inside the theatre a chore! I do hope that they change their film quality in the near future. While I can live with the freezing temperature, I sure can't live with subpar cinematic quality.

Robinsons Magnolia has great food options. They have my favorite popcorn provider, which is Taters and their white cheddar popcorn! Plus all of their other crazy flavorings. They also have the ever-trusty Happy Lemon, which is my go-to drink in watching movies! So that's a win for me. The seats were comfy enough inside the theater, the screen size was a bit smaller than I would like though. My biggest red flags though were (1) the air conditioning is way too cold. I wasn't able to bring a jacket so I was shivering halfway through, (2) the sounds were a bit soft. I was watching a blockbuster here, with all the booms and the bams, but when it came to words, I really had to strain myself to hear. I wish it had all the elements to a great theatre, but hey, it had 2.5 over 5!

Why do I like Promenade you ask... Do you remember the story of Goldilocks? like the one she always chooses is the one that's just right? Well, that's Promenade Theatres for me. It's the most comfortable, the seats are just right, so is the air conditioning and because I've been watching movies there for years now, it just feels like home. I love bringing snacks in, come on, who doesn't? and their snack bar typically has everything that I need. Their drink selection always has something new, maybe to shake things up a bit. So I always try whatever's new and I get myself a bag of chips! Oh and if you or your child needs some seat booster, the thing you put in your seat to give you a better view of the screen, they have it too. If you have a camera with you they do make you leave it with the guard but don't worry because they do really keep an eye on it OR if you're uncomfortable with this arrangement you can always leave it in your car. Another is that movies are plain great, cheap thrills... unless you're a total cheapskate and love resorting to torrenting crappy low-res versions of movies. To me, Promenade Cinema 8 is one of the best theatres that Manila has to offer, primarily because it was one of the first rooms that offer the astounding and dynamic acoustics of the Dolby Atmos system. This thing is a game-changer, I tell you. Suddenly big blockbuster flicks are even bigger and better without having the crummy and dizzying gimmick that is 3D. All for the same price as a movie in any other cinema, so why not? The only downside of Promenade Cinema 8 is sometimes, the theatre can get EXTREMELY cold. So make sure to bring a jacket.
