This Theatre was built by the Greeks in the 5th century BC. If you're a history and archeological fan, you will absolutely love this theatre. It was also featured in HBO's White Lotus 2 which was filmed here in Taormina, Sicily. The lines are long on Cruise days but rest of the time, it's not bad at all. You can have a tour guide or audio tour. We loved the tour. It took less than an hour to walk through and take photos/film.

Come here for the history. Come here for the architecture. Come here for the education. But above all, come here for the VIEWS! If you have a chance to grab a ticket early do so - and then bypass the ticket line when you actually want to enter. Take your time taking in the views, and of course you'll want to take gobs of pictures. The place is well preserved and has been modified / expanded up on over the years. You'll think immediately want to compare it to Red Rocks in Colorado but then you'll realize that's ridiculous. After you climb the amphiteather and get done with all your pictures you'll discover the café (and bathrooms?) up top. And there you'll encounter the views of Taormina. Spectacular. Don't visit Taormina without coming here at least once.

A must see while in Taormina! Standard cost for a museum in the area, more for audio. Note: the audio is not loud enough to share, being headphones! Really gorgeous views or Taormina from the top!

This theater is a must-visit location in Sicily. Located in beautiful Taormina, I'd argue that this is the best site to see on the island. Taormina itself is probably the best city to visit on the island also. The ticket to get into the theater is worth the money for sure. You will not regret it! I recommend checking it out during the day to get a nice view of the sea and volcano in the back. However, if possible, see if you can catch a show here. The show will likely be at night so the background will be a different type of beautiful. How amazing would it be though if you were there at night and the volcano was spewing out lava!

Simply Beautiful!!! Make sure you stop here!!! So much history, beauty and just absolute WOW. I was in awe wandering thru the Greco theater!! Just SPEECHLESS

A must-see when visiting the beautiful Island of Sicily. Your jaw will drop when you're here, the photos don't do any justice. The view of the scenery from the amphitheatre is simply unbeatable with a stunning view of Mount Etna in the background. The site is also well preserved. It's not every day you see a place as well preserved as this gorgeous, historic amphitheatre. There's also a great observation deck on top where you can see all the way to Messina on a clear day. So don't miss it. Stop wasting your time and get over here. You won't regret it.

When I was here a few weeks ago it was late so I missed the chance to see this spectacular site! I'm glad we drove back specifically to see these ruins still in tact and actually still a working theatre! Originally built by the Greeks then refurbished by the Romans this historic site will leave you breathless. Read up on the site on your own because there is no information posted. Restrooms available! Concerts are still performed here! (watch a YouTube clip) Entrance next to Grand Hotel Timeo Gorgeous ocean views Nominal entrance fee-8 Euro Park in a parking garage and walk so wear comfy shoes becuase it's a looong walk.

A spectacular view from the top of the Greek/Roman theater in Taoromina. An absolute must visit spot while in Sicily. Is it a tourist trap? Yes. But it's freaking gorgeous as is the rest of the town. You can wander around for hours easily. And the food in the area ain't too shabby either. Pro tip: first Sunday of the month is free. Note: this place closes one hour before sunset - so the time changes throughout the year.

This is an amazing piece of history. The view is spectacular - Mount Etna, Taormina, and the ocean in the background. We woke early to arrive close to opening, which I would highly suggest. We were able to get great pictures with very few others around. As we left around 10 am, groups upon groups of people (presumably from cruise ships or bus tours) were arriving. Do yourself a favor and come early!

I never was a huge history buff till we came to Italy. Now that I'm seeing all of hers places I read and studied about in school, I am always eager to see more! This theatre is no different. The views are unbelievable!!
