The man who took over was caught charging 8.75% sales tax. Dry cleaners are exempt from sales tax in NYC. He has no price list on the wall and his credit card machine is behind him so u can't see anything. I explained to give he overcharged me but he didn't want to hear it. So the business was reported and he has been made to give me the money he overcharged me. I bring a pants to be cut to length and they ended up damaging the jeans, plus!! They charged me more than we agreed. When I asked why, they said it was because the jeans needed a "premium" cut and the girl didn't notice when I bring the jeans she noticed when she start working on it . What a gem of a place!! I could not.be happier with my experiences at Teddy's cleaners. I have a hard time finding things that fit me the way I want because I am tall and thin. The ladies at Teddy's are always very patient with me as I explain my requests. The seamstress Leonore (Leo) is magic!! She has altered between 7-10 pieces for me. Her work is extremely high in quality and very professional. When I ordered a jumpsuit online to wear at my 25th wedding anniversary dinner, it didn't fit!! Leonore completely Remade the top of my jumpsuit and I was able to wear it 3 days later at the dinner. I cannot imagine going anywhere else at this point! Teddy's Cleaners does a great job at my dry cleaning. They're prompt, courteous, and fair about their prices. 4 pairs of pants was about $13.00. They also took care of my winter coat and a silk dress. They also do alterations here, but I haven't tried them yet. They only take credit cards for purchases oner $10 - if you have more than 3 items it should be okay. I think the only thing I have to add is that they close a little earlier than Old Neighbors, so if I don't get out of work early, I can't pick up my stuff. Thanks a lot Teddy! read more

Great service! I brought a black and white dress to be dry cleaned because I spilled tea all over myself. I had tried washing it with my other laundry but it was still there. I stopped by Teddy's because it was close, to drop off my dress. Initially, they were concerned that the dry cleaning chemicals/liquid would be problematic given the colors. However, they said they'd be willing to try getting rid of the stain. I appreciated them being upfront about it so I took a chance. Watch out for damage to your clothing! 1. I brought in 2 coats, black color came back faded, and the material fuzzy and full of lint! 2. Every item felt extremely stiff. What cheap chemicals are they using?! 3. They used 2 thick pins to hang each skirt on to the hangers!! This caused permanent visible holes on both sides of each skirt! They have helped me get over my fear of alterations! I had a terrible experience years ago, at a different tailor, and have been scared of having anything else ruined. BUT, I had six pairs of pants that were really too long and knew that I would wear them more if they didn't make me look like a 6-year old in my mom's clothing. So after weeks of looking at my neatly folded pile of ill-fitting pants I walked down to Teddy's. A lovely gentleman (Teddy?) dropped what he was doing to greet me when I walked in. I can no longer wear heels so I had 4 pairs of dress pants and 2 pairs of jeans. He had me try on each pair (unless there was more than 1 pair of the same brand/style) and then skillfully pinned them, asked my opinion, and then it was on to the next. I left knowing I was in good hands. Less than a week later I picked them up, paid ($10 each), and walked home to try them all on. And what do you know, they were all perfect! The new seems were super professional, the length was perfect, and I was beyond impressed. I will be bringing everything I need altered to Teddy's...and I advise you do the same. read more

This place does the worst sewing job. First time I went there I asked to cut 2 inches of the dress and when I tried the dress at home, it was still long, they didn't measured correctly. I came back there and I complained about it but the lady said me she did correct work. So I asked to cut again and I needed to pay one more time. In April I went there again and I asked to cut another long expensive dress. Same lady measured the dress. I went to pick it up and again the dress was too long. I paid 40 dollars for the service that they didn't do. Be careful, they don't know how to measure correctly, they made me loose time and money. read more

For the second time I brought them jeans and the f'd them up. The first one they patched the crotch and there was so much thread throughout the entire patch it was like wearing a steal diaper. The second time I went to get a hem job on very expensive jeans and I was explicit in asking for them to save the original bottom and reattach. When I picked them up, they didn't do as told and just rolled them up and sowed a new seam. They weren't jerks, but I simply think they are not to be trusted with alterations. read more

The seamstress is a very sweet person, but I'm highly dissatisfied with her work. I brought in 6 pairs of business type pants to simply have shortened. Four of the six were done correct. One pair (the most expensive pair, unfortunately) was sewn in a way which resulted in a shorter right leg by about 1 inch from the left!! I don't know how she missed that since she ironed and hung the pants. It's clear as day the right leg was shortened too much. Another pair is still too long (longer than all the rest!), which doesn't make sense either since the inseam measurement doesn't change! Since the owners of Teddy's have changed, it's gone down. I'll never go back...not even to have her correct her own errors. Also, the woman who rang us up is a baboon! She spoke to my husband as if he were her child (don't worry my husband gave it to her the way she deserved). read more

I've been coming here for about 9 months or so. I think they do a great job with my clothes. I even forgot my ticket once and they still found my clothes when I described them. (Granted, I own a very distinctive and noticeable skirt.) It sort of looks like a mess when you come in there, but I think that's because they're busy. I haven't had any problems with clothes and they woman who is usually at the front is very pleasant and courteous. ("Hello. How are you?" etc when you walk in.) I had broken all the buttons on my suit - they found great replacements and did the whole thing in expert fashion. I went to this place to have an evening dress taken in 2 inches. The first day I went the lady in the front wanted to take the dress without the tailor measuring me. I then decided to come another day when the tailor was in to measure me and have a look at the work that needed to be done. The woman in the front rudely told the tailor in Spanish not to give me a price under $90. Frankly they were rude, unprofessional and over priced. I took my dress to whiz cleaners on 30th ave and they fixed my dress and steam pressed it for only $40. read more
