We explored inside, which includes a window into the BBC newsroom, a view of the weather forecast area, and a gift shop for your BBC News merchandise and BBC programming merchandise needs. There's even a Tardis from the Doctor Who show for picture taking purposes. This was one of BF's favorite stops on our London trip!

It is such a cool building and I felt like I was whisked off into an episode of Dr. Who while walking around. To think that all of my favorite shows originated from here brought my husband and I such joy that we made a point of checking out the whole place while there. The building is open to the public and we were free to roam around after we checked in or we could have signed up for a tour--we opted not to do this, as we wanted to look at it ourselves. Overall, and from an architectural standpoint, the building is sleek and modern inside and has a bit of an old school feel on the outside in some areas. Very cool to look at and tour.

I was there because I was filming mine and Mrs Z's stint on the popular BBC 1 programme Pointless,so the only parts of the studio that I saw was the green room and the Pointless studio. The green room is a room that isn't green,imagine my shock when I discovered this? I almost wanted to ring trading standards right away,but I held back when I reslised that I am colour blind and the room may indeed have been green.. We spent the day either filming or standing outside smoking with other contestants and vsrious runners,we also had a lunch bought for us and we spotted a few Celebs whilst there.Namely Vic and Bob and the guy who played Stan in Dinnerladies and of course Alexander Armstrong and the giant that is Richard. On a cold and miserable Monday night in January I was invited for a Radio recording at the BBC…read more after work. It was a surprise and my friend's partner had bailed on her. I had no idea what "Its Not What You Know" was about... but the BBC office at Regent's Street is a stone's throw from work and a show of any kind would be good enough to light up that evening. Of course this review is for the location and the staff and not the event per se. So the first thing I noticed about the place was that it was packed! Not every radio show would be packed! It was so full they asked us to go to the balcony which we did happily since it gave us a vantage point. The acoustics were nearly perfect and we could hear everything clearly yet not at earsplitting decibel levels. The legroom could have cost this location the fifth star but other than that it was an exemplary experience. The staff were very friendly as well - its always nice to see staff paid for by government money smiling while doing their jobs. :)

It's not the most beautiful theatre in the world, but it certainly ain't ugly. And, more…read moreimportantly, you're pretty much guaranteed a good time here. I work for the BBC, so I might be biased, but there are some bloody great radio shows to watch here. It can be difficult to get hold of tickets for some programmes (News Quiz, Now Show, I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue), but it's worth applying and applying and applying. If you're awarded tickets, you're in for a treat! Be warned though, even if you're sent tickets, you're not guaranteed a seat. So make sure you turn up nice and early. It should say on your tickets what time you can get them validated. Then you can come into the Media Cafe to enjoy a bite to eat, a coffee or even a beer while you wait for the fun to begin. Enjoy! P.S. Don't forget to take your picture with the Tardis and Daleks while you're there!

Sadly, the…read morepilot was never aired (which I think was always the plan - and explains a lot of the staff behaviour and vague answers about broadcast date!). Although the taping was crazy late-starting, the staff were amazing with the audience. We were brought water and treated to sweets! The show taping itself was brilliant and run with a lot more ease and professionalism than some of the larger show venues where i've attended tapings.

Not having any other point of reference to go by, I'm just going to wing it and say this is a teensy weensy studio, cos it really is, but the people I met who worked here, albeit on a freelance basis, were lovely and made us feel dead important, even though we weren't. There is a miniscule car park behind the big walls, and you can see the green room at the front of the building, next to the entrance. When we arrived, the guy at reception was all like 'Hi Lucy! Hi Steve! How was your journey? Come on in!', which was nice, because we were a bit tired and grumpy and that cheered us up. Then we were ushered into the green room (which has a green carpet in, hence 'green room', and given food and juice and pastries and a tv remote so we could cartoon it to the max while we snoozed on the comfy sofas. And then a bit later we went to have our makeup done, which was super exciting because the makeup lady was the same one who does RICHARD AND JUDY. And then we went on Saturday Kitchen and I drooled a bit because of the food and James Martin and THEN we drank some very nice wine back in the green room and THEN James Martin was dead nice and made us follow him in his Bentley to the London Eye. Which we didn't bother going on cos we'd been up since 2am, like. Anyway, yay for Cactus TV, what a lovely little place. PS There are no cacti anywhere in the building. VMI are a film equipment rental company with an office in Soho, but I think their main warehouse is…read morein Southall. Either way - VMI are one of the many companies you can go to in London to rent equipment for your production. A thing of particular importance to me is how flexible the equipment houses are when it comes to pricing. A good rental company are aware of the fact that many films get made for not much money at all. But those with a bit of vision realise that us people making low-budget films will, a couple of years from now, be making bigger budget features. Therefore it pays off for the companies when they understand this and help you out. But therein lies the problem. Many of the companies are interested in the money, not the long term relationships. The good thing is that VMI are not one of these companies. As long as you have the insurance, a good script and the right friendly attitude - there's every chance VMI will help you out. By all means, check out the rate card as your guide.. but try to barter. At the end of the day, if your budget is £5000, you don't want to spend half-of that on camera. And VMI wouldn't expect you to. Be realistic about your project and what you need; and there's every chance VMI will cut you a good deal if they like you. So in my experience, they're very good. They're flexible about dates, and equipment - on my production despite us not having much to show for ourselves we were able to rent top of the line equipment at a fraction of the usual costs. And therefore - it's very likely we'll take future business to VMI. If you're in film, and you need something. Check out VMI. However, it's the type of business where a good look at their website would probably be more useful to you than visiting them. But feel free to ring them to discuss your needs, they're very welcoming and helpful.

Excellent. Mainly because of the last show tickets I won out of them - the Hair Rock Experience…read morewhich was superb! Worth much more than a regional leisure complex. I've also won tickets to an Elvis singer at Broxbourne Civic Hall which has a nice garden, but I had to leave half way through as I was working 12 hour days at Conservative Party Headquarters the next day as a temp. The 2nd thing I won out of here was a bit rubbishy at Hatfield University (I can't remember the artists). 911 tickets also came through so we had a bit of 1990's boy band pop. I buy the Welwyn Hatfield Times as an online digital edition and enter the competitions by text. Well done WHT for giving the prizes to someone who lives outside the area!
