Temple Beth Emeth - After services sing-along. - Ann Arbor, Michigan

After living in Ann Arbor for a few months, I decided to try going to temple. Going to temple can be so personal and it can feel weird going when it isn't your own community. Temple Beth Emeth was so incredibly welcoming and made me feel like I was at home. The building is lovely, with stained glass windows, a beautiful ark whose panels change into being a cross when the church who also uses the building has services, and a warm chapel just for the Jewish community. Temple Beth Emeth offers so many activities for children, adults, families, volunteering, entertainment, learning, and observing...it is such a warm and embracing and active community. Within 3 minutes of finding a seat, Rabbi Whinston came over to introduce himself. Services were beautiful, with the reading of the Torah and lovely music by Cantor Hayut. Two members from the board came to welcome my friend and me during the oneg, as well as several congregants. Each time I go back, it feels wonderful and is the break from the week Shabbat should be. read more
