I earned an honors BA in psychology way back in 1977. The quality of my education was first rate. The professors were really good, and the other students were friendly and fun. Over my career (I'm still practicing) I was always employed and employers respect Temple. I am proud to be a Temple grad. I even published a paper which is rare for an undergrad. Then there's the ghetto. I haven't been back to campus for years because I no longer live in Philadelphia. But when I was a student back then, the neighborhood was really rough. That's a big downside, unless things have improved. And finally, did I mention that I graduated with no debt because it's a state school and tuition is (was) really manageable. The ladies might want to think twice about walking around at night, but the fellows are safe if you have any self-defense skills. Go to Temple, it's worth it. read more

Temple University has six campuses and sites across Pennsylvania, plus international campuses in Rome and Japan. The main campus is in Noth Philadelphia, about 1.5 miles (2.4km) north of Center city. It occupies 163.58 acres. Center City Campus is across the street from Philadelphia city Hall. The Campus offers undergraduate and graduate courses and full degree programs in the evening, as well as non-credit workshops and seminars. International campuses is Japan Campus. The Japan Campus is a branch campus in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. It was the oldest and largest campus of any foreign university in Japan. Just recently went to Temple Hospital ER cause I was scared I might die after a bad bender, and the detox center I called (which I likely should have just gone to instead) recommended I go to the emergency room cause I was in truly dire straits. I fully realize Temple Hospital has more pressing patients to attend to than a 30 yr alcoholic (and they seem to be a great hospital and staff, by the way). I don't fault them for giving me little more than a bed. But if you ever regrettably find yourself in the position of "I can't stop doing this thing and I'm afraid I might die," ((unless of course, you think you or yours might actually, eminently die) any emergency room/hospital is not a good option IMO). They (sadly) are there for gunshot wounds, heart attacks, and strokes (god bless them). My semi-educated advice? Lie down in a park and wait to see what happens. Care/outcome is comparable (likely a bit more dying in the park, granted; but hey, you're at a level that dying feels like a win, right?); and lying down in the park is WAY cheaper. We need a new way of dealing with addiction disorder. Almost 20% of Americans have some form of it. So if it ain't your mom, dad, sister, or brother, it sure the F is your niece, nephew aunt, or uncle. I write this half-drunk and weeping, hoping I'll have the strength to live through this. To what point? That's how I got here and an entirely different conversation; or not. read more

Temple really opens up doors when you network with the professors there. Got my current job through a professor I had there. Learned a ton, and I miss the halal food trucks there so bad. Definitely no hand holding, which was a major plus for me but may not be for everyone. Minus a star because the campus is not safe at all. Frequent alerts about robberies and muggings- definitely don't go out at night here. read more

FANTASTIC school! I'm not biased or anything being a current student for real though, I haven't been in school for a little while and recently went back through a VA program. I am a veteran and suffer with PTSD. The school does an incredible job accommodating and helping me feel welcome. I wanted to wait a semester to give this a fair review and I am confident in my review. The professors are incredible and the education I am receiving is top notch! I have learned a ton and really respect all of my educators and their experience. It seems like temple hires the best. The landscaping is above the rest. I arrive early and there is a crew already meticulously doing what needs to be done to maintain the superior level of beauty. They change out flowers and colors based on the seasons or special events. They are always maintains the grounds at all hours. Talk about diversity. During my four years at Temple I encountered so many different walks of life and many interesting people. From old friends reunited, to roving musicians, like minded aspiring journalists, and many cultures, Temple had it all on any given minute. It didn't always deliver on it's classes, but the good teachers really made sure you walked out with a learning experience that went well beyond the classroom. I had so many classes that went beyond the extra mile. And Temple keeps on growing. They were working on adding onto it when I was leaving. A lot of those buildings and additions are finished now, and their still adding on even more. so it's only going to get better. read more

My experience so far has been fine. There has been some ups and downs, but nonetheless fine. It's been quite an adventure and a pretty interesting one. Lots of extracurriculars, it's been easy to be involved on campus, the professors are great, it's been quite easy to make friends, and the campus itself is beautiful. But Temple really needs to do better with financial aid, because financial aid kind of sucks, some buildings on campus need renovations, and Temple needs to do better for students that commute. The only school that is cheaper than Temple in Philly is the community college. Sometimes, even a cheapskate will admit that you get what you pay for... I took two business classes (2008-Center City campus) , two intro engineering classes (2010-main campus), and a mid-level math class (2009-main campus) (Dif. Eq). All for the sake of trying stuff out. I already have my undergraduate degree from a different college. I also signed up for a graduate level science class here and had it cancelled (the first day of classes, with no forewarning). The business classes (two semesters of statistics) were high school level. I studied an hour before each test and aced all of them. Seriously. No exaggeration, and I'm not no stinking genius. The classes were well structured, but the material was sooooo watered down. The engineering classes... I do not remember one thing from either of those poorly taught classes; no real world application here. The homework questions from the book were on the test, and the only thing taught was how to do the homework problems. I will have to take these classes again elsewhere if I want to actually pursue a career in engineering. Negative stars! Math. I learned a lot and the class was well structured. It went a little slow, but I was learning new things and didn't feel like I wasted my money. The school itself is surrounded by the ghettoest of all ghettos. There was a shooting involving one of Temple's building when they rented it out to the local high schools for an event (graduation?). That's just a sneak peek. I never felt unsafe myself, but I knew not to venture off campus. If I had to sum up Temple in one word, it would be "underwhelming." read more

Since I've "been here and done that", I think I hold the rights to speak freely about the campus that held me captive for five years. I loved Temple. I'm seriously thinking about going back for my masters degree in the fall. We'll see about that, but for all those thinking about campuses and not certain as to what their looking for, allow me to say this. If your looking for campus life, there isn't much here. Temple is a comuters haven. All the student housing is cramped on the edges of campus, and what lurks beyend those borders, you DON'T want to discover. The surrounding area is complete trash. Very limited places to shop, hang out, drink, meditate off of campus. It's just not the area to wander off into. There's a bunch of transportation options for those getting stir crazy, that will take you all over town, but still you need to watch yourself. If your looking for wide girthed studies, your inner independence, ethnic foods, and networked connections you'll hold onto for years, then Temple is that place. Temple offers so very much for student life within it's walls. It's just the outside you need to be watchful of. I have to say Temple gave me back oppurtunities I thought had passed their time for me. I have never been so inspired. read more

Alum 2003! I fell in love with this school after I left. I don't know why I didn't feel that way when I was there but looking back it's very nostalgic. This place took me into it's arms when honestly I didn't have that many places to go. I got to meet and hang out with people from all walks of life and I wouldn't trade that for anything. Some of the professors were inspiring enough to keep me motivated. You really have to dig deep and apply yourself to get every ounce out of Temple U, but in the end it's well worth it. The surrounding area isn't the greatest and some places are down right dangerous but that's part of the learning experience. It's the city for crying out loud! There really isn't too many place to go around Temple but it's so close to the other areas of Philly that it's really not that big of a deal. Temple is spending a lot of money in the surrounding area and I really hope that it will help revive that area in the future. I think it's a shame that N. Philly gets such a bad reputation. I have to give a shout out to the Chinese food spot near Anderson Hall.. wow that stuff is too good! I grew up eating that for all the years I was at Temple.. and that was a long time. I am TempleMade. Temple is, hands down, one of the best universities in this region. The tuition rate is extremely reasonable for the education they deliver. There are multiple campuses, including several overseas. The professors are amazing, especially in the media/journalism/communications programs. The Alumni Association and development teams have done an incredible job of raising money over the years. The campus has improved dramatically since my days there in the mid-90s. It still a less-than-ideal neighborhood, but it is like being anywhere in the city -- you have to be careful and aware of your surroundings. The police had a strong presence back in the days I attended, but now you can't blink without seeing one of them in a car or on a bike. Go Owls! read more

My wife obtained her undergraduate degree and one of her postgrad degrees at TU and loved it. TU was a client of mine for many years and the red tape was almost not worth suffering through, but in the end the enthusiasm of the staff and students sucked me in! I am completely biased as Temple is my alma mater. That being said, I absolutely LOVE this school. Everything from the class selection, instructors, and counselors to the extra curricular activities (clubs, sororities, leadership programs, etc) made my 4 years at the university some of the best of my life. The student housing sometimes is frustrating as the nicer options are extremely expensive and sometimes, not really worth the amount you're paying (read: The Edge) but the experience is phenomenal rooming with friends/ strangers. The financial aid/ bursar's office is another story. Lots of headaches and migraines arose from constant battles with the two departments but much like the other reviewer, I still think it was worth the fight and the money for the experience and education. My one tip: make sure to be careful when going off campus! Temple is notorious for being placed smack dab in North Philly and if you're familiar with the city you know that it's not the safest of areas. However, the Temple police are constantly surveying the campus and they make sure that if you're on campus, you're safe and protected. read more

I just finished reading an article in The New York Times about how colleges make their acceptance rates look better (lower, thus appearing more exclusive) by purchasing names from the College Board of potential students they would never accept. I realize now that this is what happened with my daughter and Temple. Her grades are admittedly not great, but Temple literally sent postcards, catalogs and called her every week for many months last year. It was not a top choice for my daughter based on the majors offered, and Temple did not accept her, but many many schools of higher reputation did accept her, and with scholarships. So now I realize that this is why. Shame on you Temple, for so aggressively soliciting students you had no intention of letting in. I can not say this about any other school of the 20 she applied to. Your acceptance rate of 50pct equates more like to 75pct if not for shenanigans. read more

Just went there with my son for his first college tour. I have to say that TU isn't the same 5 or 10 years ago, very impressive. I am nicely surprise that all the new buildings are very high tech and the architectural is awesome. It is also fair to comment the name TU, although very familiar in the center city of Philadelphia, is not very well known outside of Philadelphia. In the past I have both worked there and have been a student there. Temple is one of those places that's constantly on the move. So if you have been there in the last 5 years you will be amazed at the changes. For those from out of town, Temple is a state related national level research university in an urban environment. Academically Temple is very solid. I would say reputation wise it's right in there with Penn State, Pitt, Drexel and Rutgers. Many of Temple's programs are nationally ranked. Although the campus is small and easy to walk around, the school has the feel of a large university with 38k students. There are multiple campuses including overseas in Tokyo and Rome. Sports is big at Temple and several teams have now moved to the main campus including soccer. Yes, Temple has new soccer and field hockey fields. Also new is a huge luxury dorm Morgan Hall. Along with that is a new huge sciences building. Tyler school of Art is also now on the main campus bringing an artsy feel to the campus. McGonigle Hall has undergone a major renovation. Parking is not too bad but it can get congested like most areas of the city. One of my favorite buildings is the SAC or student center. Coming soon is a new student fitness center behind McGonigle Hall. A huge new library is being built smack dab in the middle of campus and will open at the end of 2018. Next to it will be a new large grassy lawn or Quad. These two projects alone will transform the university. There's lots of stuff to do on campus to keep students busy. Center City is only 1.5 miles from campus which is a cool trip for shopping, museums, shows, etc. Temple is in the process of conducting a study on the feasibility of playing D1 level football on campus. This will require a stadium. Most of the parts are in place and if the school can get city approval, I think that the project is a go. As you can see Temple has a bright future. The Temple brand is especially strong in the Philly region. The campus location used to be a weakness but now it is a strength. The multi billion dollar investment in the campus seems to be paying off. Temple is diverse and hip. Most buildings have a modern flair to them. There are pretty gardens located around the campus to add beauty. There are plenty of eateries on campus including some cool food trucks. read more

I`m a third year sophomore, dual majoring in Journalism and Philosophy. I've been here for the entirety of my academic career. This review isn`t as much about the quality of education, because that varies from department to department, but the experience of the university in general. Let me be honest with you about two things. One, Temple University was not my first choice school. I chose it because they offered me a great financial aid package and I knew it was the best decision financially. Two, Temple is not an insulated, suburban campus and we don't try to be. The beauty of coming to a place like Temple lies in the diversity of its students and faculty, and the independence you'll feel as you are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities you probably never considered. Like any extremely large, urban school, Temple can be overwhelming at first. If you're the kind of student who needs specialized attention and aren't sure about what you want, I would suggest looking at a smaller, more rural school or taking classes at the Ambler campus. Temple has some really amazing departments. Fox School of Business is always ranking in someone`s Top 10. Harvard Law`s best student in 2009 was a Temple Philosophy major, and so was the top ranking student at Beasley School of Law. Journalism and theater are above average. If you take the initiative to get to know the professors who teach your larger classes, it'll benefit you tremendously. Never have I had a professor who was unwilling to spend some of their time teaching me something I did not understand. Okay, for the downside - because Temple definitely has them. The football here isn't great. But more importantly, housing is a bitch. We tell you from the gate that you should not assume you will have on campus housing after your Sophomore year. Make that Freshman year if you're out of state. It can suck getting your own apartment in the inner city, but its an independence thing. Most students I know aren't eager to go house hunting and compete with other students for off campus housing, but people are much more comfortable living in their own spaces with people that they choose. Also, Temple is in the middle of an extremely urban center that is under a slow gentrification process. North Philadelphia is gritty and gray but I find beauty in the fact that we are open to the community. Its more about what you take out of the experience here. If you need to be in a gated, flowery setting then you should choose another school. If you care about urban dynamics, like the feel of the big city, and want to expand your perspective past the sheltered norm, then this could be the place for you. Take safety precautions when its late and Temple Police will handle the rest. We have one of the largest university police departments in the country, you can feel secure (but keep vigilant). Temple doesn't have a ton of school spirit or a big social netting, so if you're not used to putting yourself out there, you may be disappointed. My advice to any incoming student is make connections- social and professional. Say hello, be open to exchanges. I know quite a few students who are popular (somehow) in this extremely large university, and its because they know how to network and get the best of this experience. You'll meet people from all walks of life with vastly different ideologies, but if you sit in your dorm waiting for someone to include you in their social life (or if you run straight home after classes), then you shouldn't expect much. It can be rough, and sometimes you might feel like a little fish in a big pond, but this isn't a school for the weak. I honestly think that you have to be an independent individual to accept and take advantage of all this University has to offer. Temple is not going to shelter you. No one's going to hold your hand and protect you from the reality that is life. I think this school is as real as it gets, and with the construction (new dorms, new facilities) and upgrades they're constantly making - not to mention the academic progress - we're definitely a force to reckon with. read more

I'm a doctoral student in Computer and Information Sciences finishing up my second year at Temple. I did my undergraduate degree in Computer Science from a small suburban school with a beautiful campus and very friendly professors who offered tons of opportunities. What I found at Temple was pretty much the opposite. I'll begin where most students do: at admissions. I was quickly accepted to Temple and quickly offered two fellowships, which were quite a pleasant surprise. Morevoer, the CIS department appeared to be bucking the computer graphics and cryptography trend I observed in other schools and doing bioinformatics research, which I had always had an interest in, so the research opportunities seemed promising. Once I accepted the offer, however, the school fell silent and would not respond to my emails or return my calls. I didn't even receive information on housing or registering for courses until I sent them *postal mail* threatening to enroll elsewhere if they didn't send me this information. Alas, it still arrived too late, and their screwup forced me into an off-campus apartment for my first year. Next, academics: As you'd expect, there are good professors and bad professors in the classroom. Some can teach, some can't; some are friendly, some aren't; some challenge you, some don't. It's when you begin interacting with them outside of the classroom (and as a graduate student, you do a lot of that) that you begin to notice the difference: Professors at my alma mater were rather laid back and tended to view the students as intellectual peers who just hadn't acquired the degree of knowledge that they had yet, but eventually would if they so desired. If they found an excellent student, they made sure to stimulate him sufficiently to learn and grow. As a result, they allowed students to define their own directions and routinely contacted students with opportunities for collaboration (actual two-sided collaboration!) and leadership. Probably because Temple is a large research institution, Temple's professors tend to view graduate students as employees and undergraduates as annoyances. The professors are all very busy cranking out publications (grad. students moreso) and appear to view teaching as a secondary duty. The academic system itself is rigid and (at the graduate level, anyway) assumes you are fully engaged with your research and have no time or proficiency outside your field, whether or not that is truly the case. Even attempting to audit classes outside of your major on your own dime is impossible - you could do this without matriculating for any degree, but not as a grad. student! Professors also seem more concerned with publishing papers than with novel research. Neither students' ideas nor solid research methods are given sufficient time. These years are critical ones in the development of any scientist, and Temple's system is not up to the task. As for the neighborhood, the campus is relatively safe, if a bit ugly. However, it really isn't safe to wander off-campus, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. It's a very run-down slummy area, right by the railroad tracks. On two occasions I was threatened. One of my professors was not so fortunate; he was first mugged and subsequently had his car stolen. While in my apartment (which was technically "off campus", but actually only two blocks from the student center), I had a wonderful view of an empty parking lot on my right and the railroad tracks on my left. Every so often people would start shouting things at night, making it difficult to sleep. On occasion I heard gunshots. Philadelphia being a city, parking is also an issue. Reserve a spot if you bring a car there. The Philadelphia mass transit system is vastly inferior to New York's, but I guess it'll get you where you want to go most of the time. You'll need to either drive or take mass transit to do anything off of campus, because there's nothing but the aforementioned slummy homes near the campus and you don't want to walk through that area. Student life? I can't comment; grad. students don't have lives :) I suppose Temple does have a few advantages: it's located in a city if you like that sort of thing, it's near Penn and Drexel, they have a very good medical school, and the curriculum is rather easy, even at the grad. level. If you take four grad. courses a semester and do a project over the summer, you can get a Master's degree in a year, which is very nice. Once you get into the swing of the research, a Ph. D. doesn't seem to be much harder. Of course, that means if you're looking for a challenge, look elsewhere. Update: I am now in my 4th year, having seen everything from repeated billing screwups and 2-year faculty vacations to an advisor who backtracked a month before an agreed-upon defense. My dissertation is complete. I am literally held here doing nothing. Every time I think the school can't get any worse, it surprises me. Do not attend if you value your education. read more

The big negatives that prospective people should know about are off-campus safety, the extremely under supported financial aid office and a roster/class scheduling system that needs a major overhaul. The school was founded when North Philadelphia was a suburb of center-city and it has since become a wasteland for unemployed deadbeats who couldn't care less about society as a whole. The campus itself (15th-9th; Cecil B. Moore-Diamond) is as safe as an inner city school could ever get. People get hurt only when they are hysterically stupid and try to go to parties off campus or walk with headphone in at night. If you walk down an alley at 3am on a Tuesday in New York, Los Angeles,Phoenix, Seattle, Baltimore, DC or any major city in the world, bad things are going to happen to you and it's unfair to assume that things like that couldn't happen at a college in one of those cities, either. Be smart and you'll be safe off-campus. The Temple Police force is made up of ex-marines and retired police officers, more than enough to keep you safe when you're on property. The student aid office needs to be tripled in size to be effective and Self-Service Banner, the main computer engine students use to schedule classes and get in touch with teachers, needs tweaking to mesh with modern computers and new smartphones. Scheduling classes on-time is a free-for-all and people typically get kicked out of the system because 10,000 people are on it at once. If they could work around that and get more people to help the poor people in student financial services, getting on board for classes would be a total breeze. Temple's self-run websites work flawlessly; the problems come in when they use third-party systems like SSB. With all of that said, this is the place to go to school if your parents aren't rich enough to pay for you to party for four years at a more prestigious school. Temple is THE blue-color school for our cash-strapped generation. Temple is building their campus up, not around, so the square footage of the campus is utterly deceptive. Temple's new buildings rise from the hereditary cesspool that is North Philadelphia like the great tower of babel. There are numerous gardens, parks and hang centers around campus and there are a ton of activities to keep you occupied during your four years. It isn't quaint, but neither is the world of tomorrow. When prospective employers are looking to hire their next executive, are they going to look for who frolicked through an arboretum and watched their tuition-bloated football team dominate under-funded schools or are they going to ask about networking, marketing and relationship building? As someone who works in HR, I can say that hearing about strategic planning, business modelling and advertising tactics is much, much more stimulating than hearing about how you watched a movie and wrote a 4 page paper about how it made you feel. Temple will make you work for everything you get because they understand that college isn't the end of the road. Pomp and circumstance, pageantry and fireworks mean nothing if you graduate with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt and no hope of solidifying a serious job. Temple is dedicated to keep tuition low despite moving into a more powerful football conference than any of their inner-city rivals, constructing cutting-edge buildings and having to deal with our lunatic governor's mood swings. Drexel, Saint Joseph's, La Salle and Penn all cost almost twice as much as Temple does for tuition and that's something every would-be college student needs to look at. Temple football is on its way to becoming an anchor program in one of the top six conferences in the country and their basketball team has the 6th most wins in NCAA history. Despite cutting some of their other programs to save up for an on-campus football stadium, Temple remains a haven for student athletes as much as it is for transfer and international students. If you go to Temple, you will join the largest network of business professionals in the city of Philadelphia and one of the fastest-growing ones on the east coast. Temple's brand is recognized worldwide and the brevity of their significance is becoming remarkable at an astounding rate. If you're between Temple and the other city schools, consider that you'll have twice the fun for half the price. If you're between Temple and Penn State, consider that PSU's reputation is absolutely destroyed nationally and many of my friends are having issues landing jobs because of it. And, if you're between Temple and an out-of-state school, consider that you'll be paying about $14,000 more per semester (with room, board, travel and cost of living) for an education that won't be better than the one you could get in your own backyard. read more

Temple wanted to buy all the housing in the area from the poor at rock bottom prices and when many of the private owners declined there offers and rented out there homes to students Temple got mad and made this long term plan to build new high rise buildings to compete with the residents and stuff the students in there like cattle. When the students finally wake up from the housing trap, they can't wait to leave those shiny new buildings were there whole life is controlled like a little bitty baby. The area is really not the safe no matter were you live. The students have easy access to drug dealers since they all hang around seeking out the students, all the drug dealers live in the area since the neighborhood is still surrounded by the poor. Temple hospital is absolutely filthy . I went into the E.R and it was so filthy. Blood was every where. I was so grossed out .I caught a rash from one of the testing procedures that I get all the time and never got a rash from dirty equipment. Hind sight 20/20.I should of sued them. They also.treat the patients horrible no kind of compassion. That's why I have abandoned Philadelphia ER hospitals and go to the outskirts of philly at Paoli. Hospital its clean and they care about there patients. If you plan to attend Temple I do think its easy for students to make friends here which is good for long term friendships. Temple is a real university so you have to work hard. There is no easy way out. Mostly everybody can find a boyfriend or girlfriend to link up with there's so many students. Let me start off by saying that I always thought very highly of Temple University. After visiting with my daughter, I thought, Temple is the school for her. It took Temple a very long time to accept her, after she applied in December. She didn't find out about her acceptance until March. We received little to no communication via the mail or emails. We knew we had to secure her spot within the school and we made our payment before the deadline. Come to find out you have to search the website (which is not user friendly) and find and READ ALL of the small print. With my teenager navigating the website and not understanding her financial aid. I waited for a Financial Aid package to be mailed to me the legal guardian. Well, nothing ever came. I called the school to find out and I was told that everything was online. Upon further review I inquired about academic scholarships. Again nothing is user friendly and easy to navigate. Based on information in the brochures, my daughter was eligible for a scholarship to Temple. When I called again, I was told by admissions that in fact we were offered no money as they break up the SAT scores horribly. So even with a 1400 and a 3.8 GPA, you will not be guaranteed any academic scholarships by Temple. When calling to inquire about refunds, you are directed to fax letters and fill out forms. Then you read more small print and they charge you more money and refuse to return money. PARENTS PLEASE BEWARE. I will never see Temple University the same. read more

Being at Temple was unfortunately a nightmare. I had read many reviews and was expecting the best but so many aspects of the school fell short. For one there is no such thing as safety. I dormed in Temple Towers. The building is full of gas appliances. We had 2 emergency evacuations in the middle of the night in our first 2 weeks of school alone. One during a storm where we ran in our pjs and underwear to another building. We get text alerts about shootings and robbings near campus every other day. A shooting happened one block away from my dorm and I did not hear of that one until a day later. Temple wanted that one a secret I guess. It is too expensive to be a student at Temple too. The tuition may be okay compared to other schools but the added costs of being a student in Philly and trying to have 3 meals a day add up. The student body is great and diverse but that is the only positive. My education was better at the community college I transfered from by far. read more

Temple is exactly the opposite of the first university I attended. It's moderately large with a racially and economically diverse student body. It's a technological mecca with student access to all types of cool stuff from computers to television production. I enjoyed my classes thoroughly, even the ones that were taught by grad students. For my course of study, Philosophy, Temple was both up to date and intensive. They have spent some major cash getting big names and great people to teach in the department. I might even go there for my master's degree. We'll see. read more

Temple Fox School of Business Grad '08!!! I felt like I got lost in the 7,000 people croud every day at Temple Main. There was always something going on and the food trucks were amazing. Main was intended to satisfy students who live on/around campus, not commuters. Eevery week I either got a parking violation, my car hit/nicked/scratched or followed to my car after dusk. It was actually a nightmare! Driving from NE Philly was horrendous and I refused to take the train because I did not want to get trampled/raped. Unfortunately, due to my very short time at main, I cannot comment on its academic aspects aside from the unnecessarily huge lecture halls/classrooms (very sad because this is a university afterall) I guess I should have expected to be 1 of 120 students in a class due to an affordable (comparibly) tuition. I spent 1 semester at main and finished my degree at the Ambler campus. I will say that I probably have a bias opinion about Ambler because I transfered to Temple from BCCC and felt right at home with Amblers environment/size/classroom & campus layout. No more 120 person lecture halls!! There definately wasent as much to do on campus but I found this to be less of a distraction. I had no intention of hanging out on campus before/after/in betweeen classes. I actually wanted to take something away from my college experience, not just pay tuition. I will also say my attraction to Ambler is probably specific to my major (most of my junior & senior marketing classes were available at Ambler) The smaller classrooms allow for individual attention from the professors and they typically teach several different classes so you almost always have to take a teacher again (which can be excellent or horrible) Overall, my GPA sky-rocketed once I got to Ambler because I was finally getting what I wanted (and needed) out of the Temple University Brand. Temple is an excellent school with some top-of-the-line professors. I learned SO much in my junior & senior years and have been able to apply a lot of my skills/knowledge to my every day life (both personally and professionally) I just hate the $hitty part of the city = Temple Main Campus. read more

I love Temple because it has all you need for doing great research and yet the staff is not stuck up in the ivory tower. They have their credntials together and are generally down to earth and understandable. read more

I'm in love with Temple. The level of education in the Fox School is top tier. The MBA program has transformed me.

I currently go to temple and I love it. I am a transfer senior and can't wait to graduate and I know employers will recognize temple!

I Can wholeheartedly say I AM TEMPLE MADE! I love everything about this school, EXCEPT the college of education, I transferred in as an education major and recently made the change to psychology and I could not be happier, I feel if it wasn't for TU I would be stuck in a program I hate, TU gave me the opportunity to explore the person who I truly wanted to be, for the most part the professors are cool. Horrible math dept and useless financial aid department is why I'm giving it 4 stars not 5. Its a shame they frown upon psych undergrads going there for grad school cause if not I would not go anywhere else! I met some great friends as well. I went to Temple on Alumni Weekend with my friend Leah. The campus is located in the middle of Philly, in a somewhat sketch neighborhood. The campus itself is beautiful. Lovely gothic building, lots of grassy areas, statues and places to shop and eat. It's hard to believe that right outside the campus is a not so pleasant spot to be stuck in. Leah said there has been a lot updated around the campus, new buildings and such. It's a great place to walk around. read more

I really loved Temple University, Undergraduate and Graduate, for the challenge of its courses and uniqueness of the campus. When I first read Acres of Diamonds, which is the basic book by Russell Conwell and of Temple's mission, I realized that gaining an education here transcends the campus onto something larger than its physical space. You are Temple Made and will always be a lifelong learner after you graduate because you have been prepared for the world in searching out ideas and finding solutions for the betterment of our communities. read more

Like any university, Temple has its up's and downs. As a freshman , I felt immersed into things that I have never felt before. I've never been in a classroom with 200 or more students in it . It took a while getting used to. The university has its share of good and bad professors and i feel that many people correlate that with certain departments. Being a chemistry major, i have to say that it can get intense at times. Some professors, although quite knowledgeable in the subject matter, force you to teach yourself. But I feel like the tutoring center is excellent and available to all students. I have learned that you can still have that one-on -one time with professors whether it be during the professor's office hours or through email. This school is one of the most diverse I have ever seen. You will meet people from every country you can think of, every religion, every language. I personally like this because it gives us a broader view of the world. I have found it very easy to make friends and get involved in organizations. Although the school is in an urban area, I find it very safe ( except when you are trying to cross broad st. =]) The food trucks are pretty good as well. Overall, I feel like its a learning experience and one that I wouldn't trade for the world. I really like it at Temple and hope to come back for graduate school read more
