Since I started boxing I have dropped 25lbs and am in the BEST SHAPE I've EVER been in and that includes my time as a college football player. Not sure if whoever was in charge of handling the phones was having an off day or not, but I find this incredibly unprofessional. I first called because like most people that call a place meant for fitness, or for fine tuning the art of self defense, I called to inquire about pricing. Nobody answered, but I did receive a text. The text was super confusing, and had grammatical errors, I "unfortunately" knew how to read which led to whoever was texting about my initial inquiry to respond with passive aggressive and condescending responses. This is not how you do business. You would have had my money in a second because this is so close to my house. You could have literally told me the price was $600 and I'd have paid that. But, instead, whoever was texting had poor manners, grammatical etiquette, and a snobby "I'm better than you and you're wasting my time" attitude. I am so sorry I called your business and wasted your time. Next time, you should probably answer the call, and if you can't, a simple text saying "can I call you right back?" Would have sufficed. Never do business through text. That feels so cheap, like a methhead with a burner phone, or some bum thinking they're smart using a pay phone to get his next fix. Remember, I am calling you to give you my business. A business you made for people like me interested in it. Next time, you can show a little eagerness to acquire that. God only knows how many people you treat like this. And for fuck sake, pick up a book and read a page or 2 every night. You will get used to, and accustomed to how simple punctuations actually matter. Thanks for nothing. Sugar Shane Mosley, Joel Casamayor, James Lights Out Toney, Brian Hawaiian Punch Villoria, and the late Diego Chico Corrales used to train for their world champion fights here. Coach Ricky always provides a wealth of knowledge and helped improve my skills and technique. The gym equipment is in excellent shape and the sparing is great because you have all different levels of fighters. After seeing their yelp reviews, all 58 of them 5-stars, I went ahead and gave this boxing studio a try. When I got there, it gave the vibes of something straight from a Sylvester Stallone Rocky movie- old run down place in the semi-ghetto part of Van Nuys. Guys from different age groups just punching bags and working out. I used the restroom and there was no toilet paper. I guess it's BYO TP. But I have to say, the training was amazing!! I've trained martial arts before and the level of cardio here kicks ass. The trainer had me do a series of old fashion drills of jump rope, push ups and sit ups, mat drills on the boxing ring, and yes- he made me run laps around the block. He corrected some bad body mechanics I got from my prior training and for the first time, I feel my abs working when throwing a jab and cross. I'll definitely be back tomorrow!! read more

Hands down best work out from experienced trainers! My seven year old son joined two months ago and I couldn't help but join myself. Ricky the current owner of the gym is one of the best boxing trainers around, he trains the stars down to the people that want to train and loose weight, & all the way to people that are professional fighters. What's great and makes Ricky and the Ten goose family a great place is that Ricky treats everyone the same like family, like he cares because he really does... Also another great thing is you never know when one day you will run into someone famous or great person.... For example Floyd Mayweather trains there often and Justin Beiber comes by all the time as well as Female Pop Star Pia Mia, And even Mike Epps here and there! Which really confirms my idea that Ricky will treat you just like he would treat these stars like a great human being which is amazing. That's what makes this place magical and makes it feel like home. Not to mention You will loose weight here! You will be pushed and pushed in a good way... I've never been to a single gym, where the answer to the question, "can my kids be here while I train?" --was an enthusiastic and kind, "of course they can." Ten Goose has so many good qualities, but high on my list is the friendliness and kindness of the folks that work and train here. I felt at home on the very first private training session I had with Juan Funez, and I'm a woman, who has never stepped foot in a boxing gym before. Juan made me immediately feel comfortable and at ease. But what I love most of all is that I have worked harder here than anywhere I have ever trained in my life. With some martial arts experience, I have finally decided to get real help with the boxing portion of the sport and I feel I am in such competent hands with Juan. He's working on the areas I struggle with and he does so with an intensity that feels right. If I say I have five more pushups in me, he knows I can do 10. I appreciate being challenged this way and I especially appreciate that when I was too slow to slip under his mitt the other day, I was knocked in the nose without apology. I think this speaks to the kind of trainer Juan is -- he respects me enough to not treat me differently because I'm a woman or because I'm out of shape. I'm getting the same level of training as anyone who comes through the door regardless of experience. My martial arts training is so much better as a result of his guidance and I'm finally learning the skills I have dreamt of knowing all my life. I really respect and appreciate Juan. Just started boxing about a year ago and I have gone to Fortune, Wild Card and the one Gio's. I liked this one the best because Ricky and Joe are exceptionally inviting, friendly and caring. I am a middle aged woman and thought it might be uncomfortable to take privates in what is clearly a real boxing gym. I'm glad I did because my work outs have been some of the best overall I have done--both in terms of cardio and toning. Ricky will take you seriously and teach you how to punch. He pushes and will not let you slack. Many of my sessions have been with Charles as well, who is great at mixing up the types of exercise so that each week is a new challenge. I live on the West side and have paid a lot more for any kind of personal trainer work out. Boxing is all based on interval training so if you do want to combine a good cardio with strength training, consider this. Also, it does make you feel a bit bad ass when you are in the ring doing combination punches or learning how to work the speed bag. read more

I was in need of a gym where I can go and just get to work. A "No Nonsense" kind of place if you will. I was referred to this gym by a girlfriend who works out here. I was a bit intimated to go and work out with a punch of boxers. But I was pleasantly surprised by the environment of this gym. Everyone is so nice and welcoming!!!
