    Classic Ramen

I really liked the ambiance. It is a little club-like with a touch of contemporary dining flair. We were lucky to catch a concert performed by students. We really enjoyed the music. I appreciate that they serve late dinner. Most of downtown Champaign is closed by 9:30 or 10 on Saturday. If you go to a show or concert most everything is closed by the time you get out. As for the service, we had a very nice but somewhat unprepared server. She wasn't familiar with the menu nor the drinks. In fact, she was unfamiliar with most everything. Again, though, she was sweet. But she got one of our entrees completely wrong, even after we clarified it TWICE! However, the manager is top notch and very hard working. He is willing to do whatever it takes to please his customers. As for the food, this was our first visit to this restaurant, so we were unfamiliar with the menu. I Googled some of the items and we decided on chicken karaage which was chunks of fried chicken thighs and spring rolls for appetizers. They weren't bad, but there was nothing special about them. The most egregious thing, however, was serving ketchup as the dipping sauce for spring rolls. I have a hard time believing that is traditional. They do not have anything similar to sweet snd sour sauce. The chicken comes with a spicy (not really) mayo - also not my favorite. My husband ordered the filtered house sake. He said it was tasty enough. I ordered the Dancing in the Moonlight cocktail. Too sweet for me. Entrees were classic ramen for me and beef ribs for my husband. He got lamb ribs which were served with cold white mashed sweet potato. He said the lamb was flavorful and good, but he didn't care for the sweet potato. My ramen was pork in pork broth. I shouldn't have ordered it. The broth was too porky - kinda tasted like boiled neck bones. The other things in the ramen were good - even the actual pork wasn't terrible. The noodles were a good texture. We shared macha cheesecake for dessert - another bad choice for us. Wasn't sweet at all. So overall, it wasn't a good match for us, and we probably won't be back, but not so much because of the restaurant. We just don't care for the food. We enjoyed the ambiance and were probably two of maybe four non-Asian people in the place, which bodes well for its authenticity.

    Chirashi Bowl and Takoyaki Ball

Restaurant was very peaceful and beautiful and the waiter was so kind! The chirashi bowl was amazing - wonderful fish quality. The teriyaki tori and takoyaki were also both very good.

The overall of the vibe of the restaurant are very nice and quiet fancy as well. When we enter, we were welcome with a nice staff member and service was pretty good as well. Overall for food it was pretty good too. I would say they have the best ramen in town and the beef back ribs are really good too. The calamari are delicious and crispy. For tge beef don, it was alright. It is a bit on the bland side for taste wise. Overall, had a good experience here and might come back again.

Great food and service! David was excellent and attentive. He recommended the Takoyaki-octopus Ball. I was skeptical as I had never eaten something like that, but they were amazing! I would also recommend the Tuna tartar. We got a level 2 spice for the Ramen, (we love spicy foods), but it was SO spicy I couldn't imagine doing a level 3 or 4. In total, we ordered Shiitake Mushrooms, Takoyaki-octopus Ball, Tempura Brussel Sprouts, Creamy Crabby Jalapeño, Tuna Tartar, and Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen. This was more than enough food for 2 people and we spent just as much money as we would ordering 2 entrees at another fine dining restaurant. The inside was gorgeous, but I would agree with other reviews that it was almost too bright.

We had an amazing night. Food and drinks were AMAZING! Service Superb! Grace was the best and really helped us navigate the menu, I wanted to be her bestfriend lol! The food was so good we didn't get a lot of pics but the oysters, shrimp ball, otoro, and lamb skewers were phenomenal as well. We will definitely be back for the few missing items on the menu. They were more than accommodating for the shortage. We are so excited to have found this gem in Champaign!

Delicious food, great service, great atmosphere. Absolutely nothing bad to say about my experience at Tenkyu in downtown Champaign. The food was made from quality ingredients and had well balanced recipes and great flavor. The server went above and beyond to accommodate my gluten allergy. Highly recommend visiting this place! My first time trying it was two nights ago and I just placed my next order for dinner tonight! The tuna sandwich was amazing as was the poke bowl. My mom and brother both loved their ramen.

This place is my new gold standard for a hole in the wall. "Spring" is the waiter and their service was top notch. The food was delicious and worth the higher price. I've always gotten AYCE sushi or cheaper Ramen and sometimes that would upset my belly but this food was a delicate work of art. They have the wasabi in the nigiri. The wasabi is real, not the fake green stuff that cheap places serve.

The food was great and perfect for a cold wintry Sunday. Excellent garlic ramen. The rice bowl was good and tempura mushrooms were great even as they cooled. The drinks were creative and delicious. I will have to do a sake flight next time.

    Pork Gyoza

Spacious new restaurant in downtown Champaign. The pork gyoza was excellent although it was served with a side of sauce with a mountain of garlic. The ramen was $10 (opening week special) but it took 35 minutes to get it. I was first seated, two other tables who were seated after me, got their ramen before me.... But maybe mine took longer to prepare? When it finally came, it was tepid and was insanely salty... so much that I was puckering. I know ramen is supposed to be salty , but this was ridiculous. I couldn't even finish it. Hopefully it's just opening week hangups....

However, the quality of food here does not seem to justify the price point set at Ko Fusion. The menu reflects the fusion aspect of the restaurant. Ko Fusion offers an entire Japanese sushi menu, along with various stir fries, curries, ramen and even Korean BBQ on certain nights. From the multiple visits I have had here, I would not say that they stand at the top in any cuisine, the food is relatively average. First things first, paying over $20 for a single sushi roll is one of my least favorite dining experiences out there. With restaurants charging a little more for an all you can eat experience or even doing buy one get one deals, the sushi roll has to be really, really good to make it worth it. I did not feel that way here at Ko Fusion. In fact, I felt that Flaming Phoenix Roll was good at best and when I finished, I was still starving. I do think there is an effort to import quality ingredients and do a nice job with presentation, but I was definitely not satisfied. On my next visit, I wanted to order a dish as it would hopefully fill me up more. I ordered their Bul Go Kee and at $32 dollars, I was really was hoping it would be a standout dish. The food was alright, but again, could not justify the price point set for the dish. Not only that, I am looking back on the menu and realize that I never got the lettuce wrap portion of the meal. The beef itself had some decent flavor and was tender, so it at least wasn't a bad dish. I just was left feeling like I did not get my money's worth. Would I recommend this place for nicer occasions? I guess so. However, I would go so far to make this your go-to Japanese or Korean spot, places that specialize in those cuisines would likely give you a better bang for your buck.
