I really enjoy their teaching styles. The lessons are fun, very instructive, and fellow learners are always very friendly. Reasonable rates ($25 for ~2 hours). Highly recommend. This is a really great program. Robert, the instructor, is a super cool dude who helped me have a great time while learning a great sport. Fort Washington Park...is seriously NYC's best kept secret. There are plenty of courts to play on that all hug the Hudson River and are right beneath the GW bridge. The exercises we did were fun and all the people that showed up to play were friendly. I tried both the group class and the private lessons. I think the group class is a waste of time. The instructor is just there to throw the ball, and he will not give you any feedback about how to improve on playing tennis. It is waste of money, and further more if you keep hitting with a wrong move, you will learn a bad technique, that will take you longer to readjust. During private class, some instructor, are there just to fill their time and get paid. And what bothered me, is every time you show up for a private lesson, it could be a different instructor that could give you complete different set of instructions forhand for example, it is confusing... I think it is better to stay with same instructor when learning Tennis. read more

The instructors and prices are unbeatable. You will not find a better tennis deal in NYC. The commute is worth it. My boyfriend and I tried their group class via Meetup last year and decided to do their private classes instead since it was such an incredible value. They also run a special program for kids. Unless we're out of town, we go every Saturday morning and our game has improved so much with the individual instruction and playtime. Afterwards you can usually go to the next courts and play with the other students in the group/individual class. We would go during the week if only our schedule allowed it. read more

Tennis world is my favorite place to spend a Saturday. If you love tennis, at any skill level, Tennis World is a fantastic place to learn, have a great time, and meet friendly people. I've been taking group lessons with Robert for the last couple months; his classes are always informative and fun. He's great at tailoring his coaching to match each person's needs, and his positiveness and high energy keeps things fun. Lessons are a great value because he encourages students to stay and hit for a while after each lesson. It's a good opportunity to practice what you just learned and meet fellow students. Classes are at Fort Washington Park and Frederick Johnson Playground. Although Fort Washington Park can be a bit far to travel, it's absolutely worth it every time! read more

Yesterday I had my first lesson EVER! My lesson was with Robert-- it was fantastic! Over the course of an hour, I showed drastic improvement. Robert is encouraging and knowledgeable, ensuring my form was correct in order to prevent bad habits and injury. It was so fun and exciting to play and I can't wait to go back. Very reasonable prices for great instruction! The staff is very professional, dedicated and make learning to play tennis an extremely fun and enjoyable experience! An awesome thing is depending on when/where you take your lesson, you can often hit for 2 hours or so on available courts allowing you to practice even further. He has had a handful of other coaches over the years, but Carlos' warmth, terrific energy, and hands-on approach has built a special bond between them. Carlos provides personalized attention and creates specific drills focused on a player's strengths and weaknesses. I wish I can give them 10 stars!!!!! My son (6y old) has been 2 weeks in their summer camp and all I can say it was a life changing experience for him. Instructors, especially Eugene and Rob (the owner), are the nicest people ever, so patient and professional, very dedicated! I can say my kid had zero experience in tennis. He was so stiff and in 2 weeks he really got into tennis, his shape improved and most important, he had lots of fun and loved it. This was supposed to be for a few lessons at first, and for him to have some summer fun. Now, it looks like we are going to be with them forever. My kids have just completed a week of summer camp with Tennis World NYC and had a wonderful experience! This is a long trek from where we live downtown but well worth it. The boys were kept busy learning new tennis skills but also playing other games. The Tennis World NYC team seemed like great instructors but kept everything fun and entertaining as well. Even today, when it rained, they were prepared with shelter and games to ensure the kids still had a great day. The setting is beautiful and shaded, giving the kids a feeling of being away from the hustle and bustle of the city, while staying cool on hot days. I can't recommend this team and camp enough!! Oh, and they post pictures and videos regularly so you can enjoy seeing what the kids have been up to. read more

I took 3 group classes with Jimmy and they were excellent. You can tell he really enjoys teaching. Also, the group classes are not as big as in other organization - I always had a max of 3 people which made the hour much more efficient. Not for nothing, playing tennis next to the Hudson and near the GW Bridge and Little Red Lighthouse makes for an extraordinary surrounding. However, the tennis instruction (at least in the individual and group lessons I have had) has been tailored to my game, upbeat and always encouraging. Robert, head pro, also builds a wonderful sense of community by introducing everyone around and encouraging player in group instruction to hit with each other after class on the open courts. Also, customer service has been excellent with quick responses via the website or texts. read more

Hate to give a negative review here... but this was not the tennis lesson that I expected. I took 2 group lessons and one private lesson with this organization and on each occasion the instructors were late, unprofessional and boring. The balls they use are old and worn out - which makes no sense. Invest in new balls! They have the worst equipment for picking up the balls - old, shabby skinny tubes that pick up 10 balls at a time - it ends up taking 10 minutes to pick up the balls in between baskets. The instructors were on their cell phones before, during and after the sessions - which shocked me. I've never in my life seen a tennis instructor who is late for lessons sit on a cell phone during a lesson. While I was picking up balls, the instructor would use his cell phone. Not what I'm used to - I've taken lessons with at least 20 instructors during the past 40 years in New York, Florida and Argentina. Finally, and most importantly - neither instructor EVER moves to the ball. They instead prefer to continue hitting balls out of the basket, and never attempt to have a rally - which is how real tennis is played, enjoyed and taught. Nice guys, nice location but I will never sign up for another one of their offerings because of this very poor experience. read more
