Not that it matters, but I didn't know these were clay courts. The online reservation system is outdated and gives you the bare minimum level of information. The only silver lining of playing here is that it's a reasonable $15 an hour to play if you have the NYC tennis permit. The locker rooms and bathrooms are pretty dirty so I'm not even sure what those fees are going towards

He's highly skilled--not just technically, but in how he connects with each individual. He pays close attention to every player, meets you where you are, and focuses on the small details that truly elevate your game. His feedback is honest yet always encouraging, and he never gives up on you. He works through your struggles with you in a motivating way until it clicks--and when it does, the progress is undeniable. I'm miles ahead of where I was when I first started, and I can't imagine not continuing. Beyond tennis, he's incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, which makes every session even more enjoyable. It's two tennis courts at this location hidden in an apartment building, like a speak easy:-) There are private and semi private lessons and classes available in three locations in midtown east/UES. You can register for an ongoing class or drop in using the Mind Body app. They offer 10 and 20 pass deals with a price that can't be beat in Manhattan and comparable to the other boroughs. I love the drop in option especially in the Winter when my doubles group is less active. There's a lobby, locker rooms and bathrooms and tennis racket/stringing service. There were six of us in the advanced beginner class. Tate was great and kept us moving providing helpful instruction along the way. Excellent class and I hope to do it again soon. The amenities are basic but the instruction/class and class pricing was top notch.

I used the Mind Body app to sign up for a beginner class though I'm more advanced beginner. There were three of us on the clay court with Ben as our teacher. He gave fantastic instruction and was patient and charming. The tennis center has adult and junior classes, a gift shop with everything you need, friendly staff and friendly pricing. Prices are great for Manhattan and the company has three locations - 59th and York, 89th and York hidden in an apartment building, and another hidden INSIDE Grand Central Station. If you're suffering from insomnia, you can rent a court into the wee hours:-) 10 and 20 packs make their pricing comparable to Queens, and a steal for Manhattan. You pick your classes at your convenience on the app and can cancel without penalty with 24 hours notice. This flexibility is unheard of at other tennis sites in NYC I look forward to my next lessons at one of their sites. Highly recommended for tennis players at all levels.

However, I ultimately decided to because it seemed like a reasonable price compared to the other options in NYC. I would say, so far so good. We are a group of 8 which feels like a reasonable group size for a 6 week class. Any more, would be too many people. I like our instructor and find her to be quite funny, though I don't think she is trying to be intentionally. As far as I can tell, the facility seems nice, and it does not seem to be falling apart. The locker rooms are pretty clean, there's brushes for you to brush off the sand from your shoes, the courts (8 -12), can feel a bit warm, but I've attributed it to winter heating. The front desk people are ok, not friendly, but not not friendly - feels pretty neutral. I'm a beginner taking a course though, so what do I know. Maybe for more experienced players there are nuances that I just don't know. But for a beginner, I think RIRC does the job!

He teaches on courts in Inwood Park, which is a 3 minute walk from the A train 207th St stop. I live in West Village and it's an easy straight shoot commute on the express train for me. The courts are beautiful and well-maintained. I highly recommend Russ regardless of your tennis proficiency level!

Came for the RCTA Sunset Summer Concert Series, decided to Yelp it because I couldn't find any…read morephotos of the stage or space beyond the clay tennis courts- so this is for the performance area. Location is just north of the clay courts on the grassy hill with some trees for cover and shade on the hill. Most people bring blankets because chairs are really only stable near the sidewalk or at the parking area at the top of the hill. Getting here is tricky if your map doesn't give good walking directions: GPS: 40.79786° N, 73.97636° W Arriving on foot- enter at 100th St, walk down and around a few curvy paths to find the bridge and underpass for the highway and then walk to the water and south from there to the courts. It's also possible to arrive by car in a small parking lot- but parking is limited and shared with tennis players so you'd want to arrive very early. The sound is projected into the hill; so it doesn't really travel too far beyond the picnic area and sometimes the sound team needs a little extra help, but the musicians are passionate and the scenery is lovely, so enjoy the free summer sounds and views!

It was only after graduating that I discovered this place and started to play here a lot. The courts are better than most courts, for example, at Astoria or Fort Greene. Everyone knows everyone (there are a lot of regulars like at other NY courts) and I've found everyone to be approachable and nice. There's an active association that holds tournaments and clinics. Like other NY parks, the tennis courts cannot be reserved in advance and can only be booked for 1 hour each time. Repeats are only allowed if there is availability. During the summer weekends, it's impossible to repeat unless you get there at 7 in the morning or 7 at night. During the summer weeks, it usually gets crowded as well. You have the best chances of getting a court from 7-8pm. Connections are key. If you know the right people, you can play longer during peak times... such is life in our beautiful city. Courts 1-2 are the show courts but I also like the courts in the back where there's less traffic of people coming on/off courts.

I really enjoy their teaching styles. The lessons are fun, very instructive, and fellow learners are always very friendly. Reasonable rates ($25 for ~2 hours). Highly recommend. They offer indoor winter classes as well! Classes are offered at this location (Fort Washington Park) and Frederick Johnson Playground.
