Stuck in Düsseldorf - let's have a look at this city's coffee scene, shall we? A quick glance at my Yelp app led me to this place, a cute little coffee shop with an interesting name and quite a few positive reviews, so off I went. Most important aspects first: free WiFi (the password is scribbled on the blackboard behind the counter), friendly staff, quiet lounge music and all in all quite the relaxed atmosphere with really comfy chairs. They have a great selection of sweet treats - I tried the white chocolate & lemon muffin, sounds weird, tastes like heaven! Apparently they also sell frozen yoghurt, though it was far too cold to try that out! The coffee is good, nothing mind-blowing or exceptional, but simply good, at quite decent prices. Only drawback: too many seats for such a small café...it was quiet when I was here, but if this place is crowded, I'd hate to have people all around me. Nice cafe in the Japanese district with an interesting selection of American and Japanese influenced options - basically a better version of Starbucks. I stopped by here on a weekday afternoon and tried the Cafe Mexico (3.30 EUR). This would probably confuse actual Mexicans, because the ingredients are literally two shots of espresso, chocolate powder and steamed milk. That's a mocha. Mexican-style coffee is definitely a thing, and that isn't it. Anyway, naming aside, the drink was really good! Chocolately and smooth with a strong coffee taste, everything I'd want in a mocha. The interior is bright and open, with lots of seating and free WiFi. I think it'd be a good place to work or to have a lingering chat with friends, since the employees don't seem to be the kind that pressures people to leave. They could put a little more effort in the design + ambiance, but overall it's a pleasant cafe and a good choice in the middle of the city. read more

I really enjoy the earl grey tea and appreciate the fact that they serve the matcha yogurt next door. It's a nice place to be when there isn't a big crowd, but sometimes it does get packed, and it's a small space. The Internet is pretty spotty, so work is a no-go. But, service is great, and they have nice little pastries and desserts. read more

The reviews of this place are so overhyped. I've been trying to find a decent, cozy coffee spot in Düsseldorf for six months now. A few friends recommended this place and after all the reviews I thought Tenten would be my new spot. No. No it is not. First of all, I feel like nice coffee shops should be nice looking. This place has glaring overhead lights and what appears to be Ikea decor. Second, the coffee was average. No better, no worse than everywhere else in the city. Which is to say, over-milked coffee-flavored hot drink. Thirdly, they advertise free wifi and it's so slow you definitely can't come here to work. That's about it. While walking around the central train station area I stumbled on Tenten coffee and let me tell you it's a great place to sit down and enjoy a coffee. In addition to the free wifi, the servers are very nice and help you get your order just right. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is because this is not the best coffee I have ever had, but I definitely recommend it. read more

That would be a good place where to have a coffee and a cake. Lots of tables (maybe too many), nice big windows and relaxed atmosphere. The problem is the quality of the food and beverage itself. The coffee is a bit low quality and the cakes were just too fatty for them to be good. Furthermore, they were clearly displayed since the opening hour, and when I get there (in the late afternoon) they were definitely too old to be good. Fun stop! This place had good coffee, a few sweet selections in the case to chose from and free wifi, what else could you want?! More your American style coffee shop with blended and iced drinks that are sweetened. Of course you can get an unsweetened ice coffee too, but unlike many of the spots in Europe who don't know what a mocha is, this place does it all, and well! read more

Tenten offers a wide variety of coffee options, including both hot and cold drinks. I ordered a decaf caffe latte and was very pleasantly surprised at how wonderful it was despite being decaf. There's an array of baked goodies for sale, and while they look a bit manufactured, the cookie I ate was decent enough. The place tends to fill up during the after-lunch rush beginning around 13:30. read more
