Very odd experience. We arrived at 2pm to an almost empty restaurant (two other tables, empty bar) and received no service for over 30 minutes--no water, no utensils, nothing. No one took our drink order until one of us got up to say we hadn't been helped. When the server finally came over, I calmly mentioned we'd been waiting close to 45 minutes and asked how long it would take for food to come out if we decided to stay, and she apologized, explaining she was the only staff member covering the bar, hostess stand, and tables, and assured us the kitchen was "fully staffed." Still, there were no more than ~15 patrons total. We ordered drinks and chips with salsa and guacamole. We were told they don't have salsa, yet salsa showed up at our table five minutes later. The food was overpriced and underwhelming, and all of our margaritas were made with orange juice--even drinks that shouldn't have had it, which was odd. Seems as the cleaning crew from the Easter brunch never made confetti all over the floor on a Tuesday spilled drink stains everywhere straws on the floor in every corner wait staff couldn't be bothered. I went to Tequila Escape for their Happy Hour. It wasn't a bad place. The Decor was really nice, the staff was really nice and the food and drinks were good. We ordered the shrimp tacos and nachos. The shrimp tacos were really good, I was surprised that we only received 2 tacos usually it's 3 but I guess it's Happy Hour. The nachos were good, the chips were on top of the beans and cheese, usually it would be the other way around. We had the spicy Margarita and it definitely was spicy. It was so spicy we couldn't taste the tequila - but I think they used the spicy tequila. I would definitely come back because I would like to try their brunch. read more

When they put the TWO TINY ITTY BITTY chicken tacos in front of us I was shocked by the size.. $17 and the taco was no more than three bites each and this was not listed as an appetizer. The service was okay, our server seemed new, so I'll give her some grace, but the wait times for food were absolutely insane. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad that took 45 minutes to arrive... and when it finally did, there was no chicken. The nachos came out undercooked, the quesadilla was tiny, and the portion of pico was so small it could've been for a toddler. Drinks were another disaster. There was apparently no bartender on duty, so we waited forever, and when they finally arrived, one wasn't even what I ordered. A few weeks ago, I grabbed takeout from Qdoba in Norwalk, and it was a hundred times better than this. Honestly, this place has gone downhill fast. Terrible, terrible, terrible. The waitress's poor time management is why I am entering a real time review at the moment. She tried taking our plates away while we were still actively eating from them. Excited to visit a new Mexican spot in Stamford. Disappointed that I probably won't make it a regular spot due to high prices. Food was overall good, the best thing was the quesadilla but it was made with Monterey Jack so tasted a little less traditional than I expected for the price. Mushroom tacos were not very memorable and rice and beans barely seasoned. The best thing was the drinks. Service was very friendly, but just a few things that would improve the experience: - Less (or more subtle) up-selling: it felt like every thing we ordered the server asked if we would like to add x or y to it. Drinks weren't even finished and server asked if we wanted another (and later took mine away when I was still working on getting the last dregs). - Maybe I'm asking for too much but I think a sit-down Mexican restaurant should offer complimentary chips for the table, maybe even with free salsa. We did ask for chips and while the server graciously brought them without a charge, they came out without anything to dip (and unlike the rest of the meal, the server didn't ask if we wanted to add that). For those who are curious, a small thing of guac here is $16 (and the portion I had with the quesadilla was very garlicky and in general not something I would pay for at that price) I know Harbor Point is an expensive place to rent so food prices must match, but I think some of these changes can be implemented without really impacting the restaurant's bottom line. We met some friends here. This was a very big restaurant. They had outdoor dining as well. Inside was nice. The bar was pretty. The bar actually lit up. We had drinks at the bar before our reservation. Drinks were all excellent! Service was very good. Atmosphere was great. After dinner, the restaurant has a DJ. They remove the tables and chairs, and it becomes a club until 2 am. We started with the Fried Calamari, the steak quesadilla, the Guacamole with the Serrano pepper sauce, and the Chicharon sliders. I was excited to try this place because I love the Ridgefield location and this one is a lot closer with it transforming into a nightclub at 11pm. I ordered the salmon and it came with spinach and rice and a delicious pineapple sauce. It was a good filling portion, not too much or not too little. I would love to come back and try everything else because they had a good variety of options from steak to lamb to tacos and seafood. All the margaritas can be ordered in a pitcher size, which come beautifully displayed with a little flame at the time. I ordered the breaking bad specialty cocktail which was a smokey Mezcal drink, and it's definitely perfect for someone who enjoys the taste of mezcal. Plenty of parking available outside the venue, as they have a huge lot and it's perfectly located in the Harbor Point area lit up for one to easily find. Since it was packed, it did take a while to get our food and we placed our dinner order as soon as we sat down, but there was a lot going on and I was preoccupied that it did not bother me. The service was slow, and one of the drinks in the order was wrong and we were still charged for it. The drinks were good but very pricey. I'm used to $13-14 margaritas but once you go into $15+ now I feel like I'm in the city. The guac was ok and the calamari was average. Loved the outdoor patio, however every 3 mins I was getting dripped on by water from the sign/awning above. I was left scrambling to find a nearby place for me and my friends to celebrate. Tequila Espace accommodated my party on short notice, and we had a delightful time. The restaurant was very clean and had cute decorations. We ordered a margarita pitcher for the table, which came out with flames- SUPER COOL. We ordered crispy calamari, guacamole, and grilled octopus for an appetizer. I ordered the quinoa salad, and cheese quesadilla for my entree. The salad was a bit overdressed, causing it to be soggy. The cheese quesadilla was yummy. I felt the prices were a bit high considering. Overall, my friends an I had a great time! And I'm glad the other place canceled and allowed us to find this gem. Second time here. Had small plates the first time and they were very good. Tonight I had the Shrimp and Scallop Enchiladas and they were honestly the best thing I've eaten in months. We were invited to a birthday party here with probably about 60 people and they had one waitress with no busboys assisting. We wanted to share a bottle of wine so I asked for a wine list. I waited at least a half hour and she never came back so I went to the bar to try and get service. They had a full house and just one bartender with an assistant working the bar. I had to be pro-active to get the bartender's attention after another 20 minutes of waiting. I tried to order two different wines that they were out of and when I settled for one, the bartender said they had no more wine glasses. This was getting to be a total joke. He had to give me champagne glasses instead. The party started at 7:30 and from 7:30 to 8:30, appetizers were served which weren't bad but they didn't start taking dinner orders until close to 10!!Bottom line, this place is so unorganized and the service was terrible. Came here on opening day, at night, packed house. There were some growing pains, but it was Cinco de Mayo and once they get past those this will be the spot to come to. Staff was running around like crazy, most of them tried to do the best they could. Leah, who was just helping out was simply amazing and I hope she comes back. This huge space, used to be Dinosaur bbq. Tons of parking and easy to find. Esthetically inside and out it looks great, placement of the tables chairs and the lounge areas is excellent. I love the lighting and colors. They also have a few more renovation planned that will elevate these place even more. Drinks were good, had a couple margaritas unfortunately the kitchen closed before I could try the food. I did hear from a few other people that were there earlier and came back that it was good though. Prices are inline with the downtown stamford area, even though this is more in harbor point.
