We didn't even get the chance to try the food. We came to Eugene for an event at Matt Knight and figured we'd stop here beforehand for drinks and a bite. There was a massive line--which is totally expected on event nights--and we had no problem waiting. We waited 45 minutes while there were at least 10 empty tables the entire time. Alright it's the restaurant business maybe there's a reason? Eventually we got seated. We asked to sit outside because there was a live band. They tried sitting us inside but why would we if there's live music? Didn't you pay for people to hear them? Anyway we sat down... for another 20 minutes without a single server coming by. At least we got water. Meanwhile, people who were behind us in line were already getting their orders taken. We figured, okay, we must be next. Nope. Another 15 minutes goes by--and those same people are now getting their food. At that point we gave up and went inside to try the bar just hoping to at least grab a drink before our event. We were told we had to go back to our table because the bar seats were "reserved." What restaurant has reserved bar seating? That was the breaking point. As we were leaving I said, "You guys need to work on management" and the "manager" responded with "No ownership." That pretty much says it all. Waited almost an hour and a half for nothing :) Other things we noticed: * A table near us in line waited 30 minutes after putting an order in for drinks and ended up leaving after no service (should've known by this) * While we were still waiting in line, two women walked in and were seated immediately--and served right away by the "manager". He passed us multiple times carrying drinks and food to them. (must of been his girlfriend) * Another group in line said they called a week prior to make reservations and were told "oh no reservation needed it's a Sunday" The food looked decent but honestly it's not worth it if the service is this bad. Im really disappointed with the service. I had gone earlier with my Mom so we get something to eat for lunch. They told us "it's gonna be a 30 minute wait" even though there were six table (two about to finish). They seat us in the middle and only give us chips. The waiter with the black hat had told us "I'll be right back in a few with menus and to take your drink order". A few minutes after, the waiter serves us water in plastic cups while he serves Americans water in glass cups. A few minutes go by and we see at least ten tables start to receive food. My Mom kept trying to ask the people when we would get menus for at least twenty to forty minutes. They just kept ignoring us and there were six people upfront. It's like they think with their feet and not their heads. At the end we just got up and decided to leave. It's a shame how they had six people upfront and none of them had the decency to ask us if we had ordered drinks, if we wanted more chips, and if we had ordered food. If you're raza then I highly recommend that you avoid this place because you will only waste your time, your dignity, and gasoline money just to end up disappointed. read more

Dog shit service. Came here on Cinco de Mayo and this place was completely understaffed for how busy it obviously was going to be. We waited way too long just to be acknowledged, let alone get our food and drinks. The employees that were there were clearly trying and working hard, but they were overwhelmed and set up to fail. It felt like management/ownership just chose to cut corners and maximize profit instead of properly staffing for one of the busiest days of the year. That's not fair to the workers or the customers. What a find. When we arrived it was jamming. Great ambience and feel. Everybody who works there was hustling with a huge smile and great attitude. We waited about 15 minutes for a table. So worth it. We had a party of six and everyone cleaned the plate as well as the excellent chips and salsa. My tequila burrito was outstanding. And the tacos rocked. Second time coming here but first time with the new counter service instead of table service and not sure how we felt about our visit. Food taste was like a 9/10 and I wish I could truly rate it that way but my burrito was completely cold so giving it a 5/10. And I mean like tortilla, meat & potatoes weren't even room temp. I also ordered it with sour cream and it didn't come with, then when I asked if I could have it they rang it up ($3). Overall, it was a solid restaurant. The range of offerings were standard but with their own flair. I had the Tacos al Pastor street tacos and definitely recommend them. I was with work colleagues who each had different dishes ranging from the taco salad with shredded chicken, to the chimichanga plate, arroz con pollo (which could have been shared with one to two others), to the Tacos El Gobernador (shrimp tacos), and all said they enjoyed their meals and wished it wasn't a work-time lunch in order to try out the various cocktails and ample tequila options they offer. The service was pretty good. They were courteous and helpful. Our waiter was working throughout the entire floor seemingly by themselves and did a solid job. The ambiance is at odds with itself. The booths are brightly colored yellow and green due to both its proximity to Matthew Knight Arena but also perhaps from previous tenants in that space. The seating was ample and comfortable. I look forward to my next visit there and hope to try out more of the menu and drink offerings! Go check them out if you can! read more

Unfortunately I didn't take any pics during the busy Family weekend at Oregon U. However, I can tell you that the food was good. Portions were a good size and I enjoyed the carne asada meat. I really liked how they give you a bottle of salsa, in addition to the salsa already given with your tortilla chips. The menu is straight forward and I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. The staff was friendly and service was good considering they were short staffed. The restaurant had lots of seating inside and also on the patio outside. The restaurant is bright and inviting. Parking is located in the back and is also walking distance from campus. Newly renovated restaurant that looks really great inside. At first I was shocked with the price of the horchata but when it came out I understood the price because it's huge! The salsa and bean dip were so good and a nice twist. I had the carnitas de puerco and the carnitas had great flavor, not too crispy and still a bit moist. This place is new so give them a little bit of slack as they are still figuring it out. I think hiring a few more employees could never hurt. read more

Three of us came in and sat at a table. No one else was in the entire restaurant or on the patio. There were three guys working which I assume to be a cook, server and busboy. Menus, chips, salsa and waters were placed on our tables. A few minutes later a couple came in and sat down at a table. 15 minutes goes by and they are being served drinks while no one has come to our table to ask if we'd like to order any drinks or food. The server then leaves the building and leaves who I think was the busboy, behind the bar. His name is Romero. Romero is behind the bar on his phone for a few minutes, then decides to go sit down at a table and continue to be on his phone. He then gets up without looking away from his phone and stands behind the bar again. At this point the person I think was the cook has disappeared. We never saw him again so I think he must have been cooking for the couple that came in. Romero starts to walk back to the booth as someone in my party is raising her hand, saying "excuse me?" repeatedly, but he blatantly ignored her. Another person in our party went and sat at the empty bar to make a point and Romero continued to ignore us. The server finally walks back into the building and asks the person at the bar if he has been helped, sort of chastising Romero on not helping out to which Romero replied "I don't have to." At this point it's been almost a half hour. Server comes over and takes our 3 drink and nachos order. He asks if there is anything else we need and I asked for more salsa. Romero comes over with more salsa, puts it on the table and says "here." Later, one of us had to go up to the bar to ask for more chips. Several minutes later 2 out of the 3 drinks come. We're told the 3rd drink will be out in just a few minutes. 10 minutes later the nachos come. No silverware or napkins have been provided. Someone in my party stood up, went to the counter where staff grabs silverware and napkins for tables, but there is no silverware and all the napkins are in plastic packages....so she took one of them and opened it, placing it on our table. The server comes back and asks how everything is and we informed him we are still missing the 3rd drink and have no silverware. He apologized for the napkins in the package, took them out and looked embarrassed telling Romero to bring us forks. 3rd drink was finally brought. Nachos were really good. However, this is the worst service I've ever experienced at a brand new restaurant. This is my second visit. First visit wasn't as bad, but the ladies were rude, unfriendly and didn't care to provide basic serving customer service. I would've contacted the manager, but there was no manager on site either visit, their website is not working and there is no contact information on yelp. The only reason I gave an additional star is because the nachos were delicious and packed with all the good stuff. You would think a brand new place would have management/owners walking around to ensure their establishment is running properly and customers are happy, wanting to return. It's no wonder this place was empty during Happy Hour. read more

i've always loved their food and drinks, but recently I had an uncomfortable experience recently that left a bad impression. A group of us went, most of us ordered the same thing, including the same drink (mangonadas), except two people who got non-alcoholic versions (they keep them in the same glass and looks identical which will be important). So I went inside to get a second drink, and the cashier told me, "We ask that you don't share drinks," which I found odd, but I just said okay. For context, I usually have AT LEAST two drinks whenever I go. When I returned to the patio, the cashier followed me outside and said he needed to take my drink because someone else had taken a sip, specifically, he accused the girl sitting next to me (who, like me, is Black) of drinking from my cup. We were all genuinely confused because no one had shared anything. And my drink was at the bottom when I went in to get my second one. So I asked, "Who saw that happen?" and he said he didn't see it himself, but the bartender did. So, my sister went inside to talk to them, and both employees kept changing their story about who saw what. Eventually, they said they didn't want to argue. At that point, we just told them, unless you personally see someone sharing a drink or have actual footage (WHICH WE ASKED FOR), you shouldn't be accusing people of violating your alcohol policies. We're all adults in grad school PUSHING 30 and I assume because a few of us ordered NA, they thought some of us were under 21 but a lot of us just had to go back to work or don't drink during the week. Anyways it was a really bizarre and disappointing experience. I get it's a college town and they probably get a lot of undergrads trying to take advantage but don't take it out on customers especially with no one actually seeing it.... read more

I am always excited to try another taco place but this one came up a little short. I will say the service was amazingly attentive and friendly so that was good. The food wasn't bad by any means but it also just wasn't much to write home about either. We started with chips and salsa as well as carne asada fries. The fries were probably my favorite thing that we ate although they could have been left in the fryer a couple min longer. My friend ordered a shrimp dish that came with more soggy onions than shrimp and was very greasy. I ordered a combo plate with a taquito and chimichanga. The taquito was fine the chimichanga could have been so yummy but it had more beans than I'd prefer in it and the shredded beef had like a cinnamon type after taste that made it not as good as it could have been. The margarita was not the best one I've ever had but it was decent. It definitely has a bit of a campus bar vibe to it still with green and yellow booths that don't exactly have a Mexican restaurant feel but oh well! I am from out of town and stayed in a hotel nearby. I picked up a to-go order. I got the combo with a chicken taco and carnitas burrito. My boyfriend got chicken tacos a la carte. Everything was very good, but a little dry. It needed more sauce. The service I got was exceptional and it didn't take long for the food to be ready. As someone who is Honduran and my boyfriend is Mexican, the food was good for the most part except for a few things. They start you off with complementary frijoles (beans) and salsa and a huge bowl of chips which were good! Chips were fried just right. I got the 3 quesabirria tacos and my boyfriend got the street burrito, carne asada. The tacos were alright, kind of weird they put the onion and cilantro on the side and barely any, and didn't give any limes with it? The meat was alright in the tacos, but the burrito had a lot of fatty meat in it. I had to ask 2 different people at 2 different times for some limes. Also had to ask for a coke refill, our waitress was nowhere to be found outside, except she was outside and with other tables. Not once did she come ask us how everything was, if we needed anything, nothing. Service like that is extremely distasteful, because everybody ELSE that was not our waitress was nice and helpful, so I'd expect the waitress to be like the other staff. That itself makes me knock down points because who wants to be ignored at a restaurant by their waitress. At the end when we wanted the bill, she didn't bother to go get our receipt or anything, she just said we could go pay inside. Whatever, we went inside and they asked for our receipt and had to guess what number table we sat at since she didn't give us any information. Excited to try a new place and especially anything with tequila in the name. Today, I'm going to give it three stars in hopes some changes will be made going forward. Being a new establishment is never easy and there's always some kinks to work out. Service was five star hands-down. Sadly, the house, margarita, as well as my friends Cadillac margarita, both were returned because the mix was super sweet and had a chemical aftertaste. Most likely it was the mix and also the tequila choice. In all fairness, I always try a house margarita, first before upgrading my tequila choice. No issues sending the margaritas back and exchanging it for a Mexican logger. The food portions were pretty hefty, we all had to go boxes but the flavor just missed the mark. The chips were unsalted, my Quesa Birria tacos had absolutely no flavor, salt would've elevated everything. I wish them the best and I'm willing to try them again in the future. read more
