Friends and I went to see a matinee movie, that let out just before 6 pm. We decided to grab dinner after, and since you can see Tequila's from the theater parking lot, the choice was pretty easy! We were very quickly seated, despite them being really busy for it not even being 6pm yet! Service was quick to take our orders and to bring food out. At one point we saw them closing the blinds and assumed it was a birthday - I've been once in the past and saw the sparklers they bring out for birthdays. I was wrong, well kind of there were also a few birthdays we got to celebrate and sing along with, the blinds however were for the King Kong party! They cranked up the music and a person dressed as King Kong danced around the space! It was so much fun! The food was also really good! I went with the birria tacos, it's not the best birra I've ever had but considering they make large batches to serve daily + the rest of the menu, I thought it was still good! This restaurant is located in the One Bellevue Place shopping center just outside of Nashville. They have plenty of dishes to chose from and offer a full bar. It is a family owned business with traditional Mexican with a modern twist. The interior has a authentic feel and the staff were all friendly. My wife got the Fajitas got the Fajitas Texanas single size which has Steak, Chicken and Shrimp and it's alot of food. The Queso was delicious and I created a combo. All the food was good along with good service. The table beside us ordered an 88 ounce Margarita and it was impressive. It had a lit sparkler on the top. Mood: Post Movie meal Was a little underwhelming experience. Was expecting more spices, seasoning, and texture to the food. Wasn't there for me. It was all flame boiled and put on the plate. Steak fajita 6/10 pretty bland but a lot of food. The rice & beans of course carried the meal. Birria Tacos 6/10 the cosume was very bland liquid and not packed with juices from the meat. Not was expected at all. Chips & salsa 3/10 the salsa was runny and no flavor Again it's a lot of food at a good price but there's no flavor to teller food. I met some colleagues for a quick business lunch here recently as it was a convenient location for the day, and I was really impressed. It's clean and well decorated, the staff are super friendly, and the menu offers a lot of unique options that you don't find on every Mexican restaurant's menu around here. A kind of Tex-Mex, Mexican, Americanized Mexican, world, comfort food mash-up menu but with a little flair. I had the Brocheta's from the Sea (a take on a Spanish dish) and DID NOT expect it to be served with a lit sparkler. It's a shirmp skewer dish with jumbo grilled shrimp, grilled chicken, and veggies, served over a platter of rice, beans and veggies. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meal. This place was one of my worst experiences this year by far! The service was horrible, and with so many workers I couldn't understand why. Then at the end we asked to speak to the manager to express our concerns and he also had a horrible attitude and acted as if we were bothering him when all we were trying to do is tell him how our service was bad, even with two waiters. Also if you have a party of 6 or more they will add a 15% gratuity, which was not deserved AT ALL. We asked for him to take off the gratuity so we could each leave our own tips but the manager said there was nothing he could do. Really sucks that the service was so bad/slow and forgetful because the establishment itself was actually nice, the food subpar. The theatrics of sparklers and smoke is what you're really paying for here. And on top of the service being bad, it was my birthday! Gave me a little bit of attitude when I tried to order a piña colada and I didn't have my ID. I said I have a photo of it in my phone..... he's like no I need the plastic so I said OK. It's OK I'll just leave.... And then he gave me a nasty look and God on his little microphone thing, walkie-talkie and radio to let them know I was leaving as if it was a security issue. Great decor Slow service The house marg... was different. Maybe I got a pineapple one on accident? The skinny marg my friend got had dry ice so it was cool looking. Chips are standard and the salsa was good. I ordered the Baja grilled/sautéed shrimp tacos. Not what I was expecting. I was expecting your standard Baja/beach bound seafood taco with slaw. Came here recently with a group of friends on a Saturday during lunchtime. It was a party of 8 of us and we were sat immediately. Service was ok, and the food was ok. Unfortunately when I got my food there was hair in my taco, and the silverware was dirty. They quickly replaced the silverware, but they left me with the contaminated taco which I did not eat. A couple of people at our table had to wait almost 20 minutes after we got our food to eat. A guy came over to apologize, I'm assuming was the manager. We stopped to eat on the way passing through, headed to visit family for Thanksgiving. We were not expecting much but honestly, this place is awesome. The whole family loved it. The ceviche is legit. I haven't had any this good since living in LA. The service is impeccable. They check on you and do their best to make you happy. I see a lot of potential in Tequila's, which is not quite realized yet. The things they are hitting on have all cylinders firing, while those that are off are really off. I have been twice. The first time was with a friend who wanted company. I had a beer and a tamale. The second was with my family and I had a full meal of street tacos. Let's start with the things that are not hitting on all cylinders first and get them out the way. We were sat down and it took 10 minutes to get anyone to come over. Ordered two of the night special $3 margaritas and then were left alone for more than 20 minutes. They were full, likely understaffed, but it was also evident the staff was not working smart and nobody, even the manager, was watching for people trying to make eye contact. We finally got help when my wife walked up to the hostess and mentioned we had ordered 20 minutes prior. The second thing that was a negative was my wife's California burrito. The description of a burrito covered with Chili Colorado and stuffed with the normal stuff that would be all over the plate (beans, rice, chicken, etc.) was great. It looks like the kitchen substituted ranchero sauce for the chili and had very little chicken. This is likely from having a huge menu (not quite the Cheesecake factory phone book, but still pretty big - and there is a drink and dessert menu that is separate). As for positives, there are quite a few here. One of the few Mexican restaurants that has sopes (Tito's on 100 also has them) and molcajetes (El Sombrero on Charlotte also). One benefit of a huge menu? And they have a lot of drink specials, including the aforementioned $3 margaritas. The queso is pretty standard. I really like the salsa (although the chips were a bit chewy, instead of crisp, so they may make too large a batch ahead of time?). I am fond of their salsa. Fairly simple, but one of the best in the area. The rice and beans are also very nice. I had the street taco plate. Of the tacos, the carnitas were my least favorite. The pastor was very nice, but the campechano (steak and chorizo) was my fave. The $3 margaritas were a tasty low end margarita. Wife also tried the passionfruit, which was very pretty and tasty. As a note, my wife feels they are so-so. I think some of this is the fact it was largely devoid of chicken and had ranchero rather than Chili Colorado. As the food is good, I hope they get the service and kitchen down. If not, there at least 8 other Mexican restaurants within a ten minute drive of Tequilas. read more

April 2022: We used to go to the Tequilas location on charlotte near I-40/white bridge, but we've been TRYING to keep most of our dining dollars in Bellevue--happy to see Tequilas is now over at our new Bellevue One shopping center! Now that we are again venturing out into Covid-land, our assessments: Mestizo is good, Cantina and Cancun are too gringo, Tito's is underwhelming (miss our old Nachos restaurant), being Ex-Californians we typically just hit up the tried-and-true Victors taco shop for a quickie Mexican divey fix. This "new" Tequilas location has now been here a little over a year, still looks clean with neat agave-upholstery and cute/not tacky tequila-esque decor like lit alcoves with high end bottles displayed and a gorgeous Katrina mural (day of the dead). Very nice waitstaff. Bright cheery music but not too loud. Comfy booth seating. Hugeeeee list alcohol drink specials; we opted to try a standard lime marg and it was 12oz, ample, pretty, & plenty yummy for $4.50. Salsa was delicious (and we are picky). Chips were fine, seemed pretty fresh. Ordered a California burrito with chicken (cuz the beef choice was ground) which was ok--delicious pico on the side but Chile Colorado sauce was too skimpy and had no smoky/ancho flavor. Also had burrito Serrano which had nice chunks of well-seasoned pork, balanced green sauce, and killer SEASONED refried beans and some regular ol rice. Very good. Lots of enticing menu options & we will be back! Sizzling fajita platter looked good at another table. Sadly the taco salad did not. Putting this restaurant on the roster! We didn't get drinks but the drink menu had a huge variety and I can't wait to try a few. We had a party of 6 and our orders all came out correct and at the same time. My *only* minor complaint would be that the service was slow and maybe overlooked some things. For instance, we had 3 bowls of chips with salsa and also ordered queso and guac. Admittedly I often order Tequila's on Uber Eats, and I believe I order from the other location off Charlotte, but I figured this second location would be what I'm used to when ordering online. However, this visit fell a bit flat for me. I think they did a good job with the space and bar. It's new and the staff was friendly, but the entrees weren't as good as the other location. The chips, salsa, and cheese dip was very good. I also perused the giant drink menu, which is different than typical Mexican restaurants. However, they were all garish and neon colors. I thought I was ordering something simple and not flashy (a skinny margarita), but my drink came out with dry ice and a flashing light inside. It definitely tasted like it had a sugar in it. The food was ok, but nothing special. I think what was the oddest of all was that one of the entrees came with French fries. Overall, it was just ok. I'll stick to my Uber Eats order! read more

The staff is very friendly and do speak and understand English. Yay! The restaurant is clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Prices are fair. The food was fantastic on both visits. My only complaints is the salsa, although fresh is just a bit spicy for me, took a while to get our food on our first visit and a ten minute lag between my food coming out and my husbands food on our second visit. We've tried, enchiladas, fajitas, chili pablomos and burritos. every intention of trying more and hopeful they'll offer a milder salsa and get the kitchen timing fine tuned. I've been to this restaurant three times. The first time was good service, amazing food. The second time, everyone's order was missing items, and the waiter could give two hoots about the fact we had asked for the missing items three or four times and still didn't have it by the time we finished what was on the table. This third time, I just wanted churros since it's me and I can't eat a whole plate of ice cream churros with cream and sprinkles. The waiter talking my order, said, no problem, be ready in 10 minutes. The entire Churros Mexicano dish plate (ice, cream, sprinkles, 1lb of whipped cream + garnish) is $8.99. They rang me up at $20.99 for TWO churros! When I asked how is that possible when 3/4 of the dish is not included, instead of adjusting the price to something more reasonable like $4.99 (keep in mind this is for two 4" churros), they bring out another box of churros and try to charge me $16. There is no hint of customer service through the entire transaction. Meanwhile, while I was waiting to get sorted out, there was a gentleman waiting to get his cheese dip that was missing from an order and they tried to charge him again. I thought my first experience there would be the norm. we just moved right across the street and would have absolutely made this a regular spot, but the experience has been a downward trajectory quickly. read more
