I ordered a regular spicy chicken teriyaki. The owner pointed to a sign on the counter that said the Tuesday special was a large spicy chicken for the price of a regular. Excellent!! The portions were very generous. Tons of deliciously grilled and warm spice (delayed heat). The meal came with a side salad in a separate container. I appreciated this as it kept the lettuce from become wilted from the heat of the chicken and rice. This meal was actually two separate meals because of the portions. And all of $12!!! You can get yakisoba, tempura , teriyaki, wonton soup, korean beef bulgogi. I ordered the large chicken teriyaki. As I waited two minutes, could hear the sound of precooked chicken teriyaki being chopped. Yes, my chicken was precooked, with minimal char at best. Very light smoky flavor, wanted more. Light flavor teriyaki sauce on side, with overall sweetness as the outstanding flavor.No gyoza in meal. Very wet salad offering, had to pour at least 1/4th cup of water off salad. Even though I drained salad, it still was very wet and resistant to dressing. Left a half cup of water on the plate, especially when dressing was added. Dressing was more of a Thousand Island dressing than a soy/ ginger one, not a fan of this dressing. This is a minimalistic restaurant. I asked for additional napkins to supplement the one I was given for eating. Only parsimonious one was given. The teriyaki was not bad, just mediocre. Salad was incredibly wet . Was given prepackaged fortune cookie as I left. Not a bad experience but unhappy with amount of chicken teriyaki I paid extra for. And big mound of soggy, waterlogged salad. A spin in the sale spinner is needed, to redeem these soupy greens into a salad. The chicken wasn't bad, just everything else accompanied with the meal was subpar. read more

Ordered our usual over the weekend and as I was serving the teriyaki salmon to my kids, I noticed something that can easily be mistaken for bbq char since the salmon was cooked on the grill. However, as I looked closer and picked up the piece, it's actually a piece of metal bristle that's used to clean the grill. The reason I'm writing this review is I decided to go off menu and asked for some suggestions. The girl up front suggested the asian-style short ribs, and it didn't disappoint! However, I got the order wrong for my wife, and even though they didn't need to do anything, they fixed the order really quickly and seemed so happy to do so! The owners both even came out to apologize, even though they weren't the ones at fault. Really loved my experience here, and I think the teriyaki itself has gotten better. I tried this place for the first time, and wish I hadn't. This was the worst teriyaki I ever had. It was dry, and it didn't seemed fresh at all. The rice was so mushy, I just could not eat it at all. Rice is my favorite side dish. But this rice was so bad. And the sauce was actually liquid. I thought sauce is suppose to be thick. Also,, they put my salad dressing on. I like to do that myself. That's the first time I ordered Teriyaki, and they put the dressing on. I might not had want that salad dressing on. I just wasted $11.00, on this meal. Because I threw it away. I've been trying different teriyaki places, and this was the worst. If you really want to get some real/good teriyaki, go to Bento time, in Everett. Food is good, but there are plenty of good Teriyaki spots in this area. The reason I'm giving them 3 stars is because the girl who works the counter is very rude. I'm not sure why she treats people the way she does, but it seems as though she hates her job. She never makes eye contact with you, she's very hard to understand because of the tone she uses, and she tends to SNATCH your payment method right out of your hand because she is in such a hurry to get you out of her way. I could be wrong about all of this, but this is the way it seems to me. As one of the previous Yelpers said, a smile, eye contact, and a "how are you today" do go a long way. This girl needs a little training on how to treat people that come and do business with you. I will continue to go there because it is convenient for me and close to home, but I might get upset at this girl one day and give her a piece of my mind if she continues to be rude and physically snatch things out of my hand. I think one of the main changes that does kinda suck is the price changes, they were slightly cheaper before and the sodas use to come with the lunch special, now you have to pay extra for a soda. I always call in my orders, rarely do I ever dine in since I live close to the location. My order has to probably be one of the most complicated orders for them and I've never had them ruin it or get it wrong!!! My order consists of: Chicken teriyaki, sauce on the side, with brown rice and salad dressing on the side. Most restaurants I ask for one change to my dish and they get it wrong. But they've never messed up! This is especially one of my favorite teriyaki joints just because they offer brown rice!!! I am a bit biased about Teriyaki joints due to being a neighbor to one of the first Toshi's in Kirkland back in the early 80s. It was simply put, the BEST. You could get a beef/prawn/chicken combo and know the prawns were fresh! That's a big plus in my book! Then there began to be teriyaki joints on every other corner. Always pictures of their dishes, order by number to make life easy for the owners. Most didn't (and often don't) appear particularly clean and if you (pre-pandemic) wanted to eat at one of 2-4 indoor tables you were probably going to clean it yourself. That said, places became a little more diverse w/the menu and we started to see SPICY teriyaki, hum-bows (not sure why they are teriyaki but who am I to question) as well as garlic, spicy, extra spicy etc. The Toshi's combo platter included prawns/chicken/beef in TERIYAKI SAUCE. Always fresh and always good. The new establishments offer a few variations on sauces that seem to be popular w/guests. Garlicky chicken, Spicy Beef or Chicken, SPICIEST Beef or Chicken, and a few items that were not the norm in early Teriyaki days. No one has ever done it like Toshi's so I have to come to accept that sadfact. You didn't pay 50 cents for an extra ounce of sauce, you had to really push the extra sauce thing to incur a charge... white rice was always fresh and salad ( teriyaki salad is a few pieces of ice burg w/carrot shreds at times, was crisp and had enough of the sweet tangy dressing to get you to ALMOST the last bite. Teriyaki Garden is a perfectly good place to grab some food to go. My friends like the Spicy chicken and it's actually quite good. I simply don't trust that Prawns will ever be safe since the Toshi's days, so stick to chicken and beef! Enjoy. And plan to pay for extra sauce or salad dressing! read more

This has always been (and will always be!) my go-to place for bomb, legit teriyaki. It's right across the street from where I work and a 2 minute drive from where I live. It's decently priced for how amazing it tastes! I come here quite frequently. My only comment is that during times that they get busy, wait times can climb to 30-40 minutes. No bueno when you're hangry. So I always decide from the menu online then call in my order. Maximum 15-20 minute wait and it's always ready when I get there. I suggest doing this option whenever possible. I almost always order the prawn yakisoba or regular chicken teriyaki.
