Only the loudest will be heard among the herd. Friendly, helpful staff. Casual yet elegant. Good, albeit short wine list, they do a 5 not 4 glass to the bottle pour, ( gee whiz give us 1.4 more oz!) Tom Douglas does a 4. The Calamari was the best, the Mongolian Beef w/scallions very yummy. Great noodles, the sweet n sour halibut was to sweet and gelatinous for some at our table. My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant while traveling, unaware we were in for a wonderful treat. This was the best meal I've eaten since Berghoff's in Chicago. I had duck, and it was divine, with a hint of black licorice (fenel perhaps) and black pepper - the flavors were subtle and intricate and oh so perfect. The entire meal was fabulous as was the tea and banana bread pudding we had for dessert. I hope to bring friends to share this gem of a restaurant when I am back in the area. read more

Overall, I was underwhelmed considering the reviews. What we ordered, and the corresponding review follow. * Appetizer: pork & shrimp crepe -- This was easily my least favorite dish. It's essentially a Vietnamese style crepe filled with bean sprouts, a couple small shrimp, and a few pieces of pork. Being that I am not a fan of sprouts, and they were not mentioned at all in the menu description, I was borderline angry when the dish came. I can't imagine ever recommending it, and I will never order it again. (Note: In all fairness, according to my Thai wife, this is very similar to a popular dish in Thailand that is served with mussels instead of our proteins. Maybe I just don't get it, but I wanted to pass this note along to keep the review as balanced as possible.) * First entree: drunken chicken -- Fantastic dish. Crispy stir fried chicken with a fantastic tangy spice to them, lightly sprinkled with sesame seeds. Highly recommended, and I would definitely order again. * Second entree: emerald fire noodle -- I'm a little heartbroken with this dish because I feel it has great potential. The unfortunate truth, however, is that the chefs over seasoned the dish, and it came out extraordinarily salty. I don't typically drink much water with dinner, but I finished 3 glasses due to this dish. The flavor profile, minus the added sodium, was great. I'd probably order this one more time to see if I experienced a regular occurrence, or if perhaps the chefs made a mistake. If executed a little better, this would be a standout plate of noodles, but as it is I couldn't recommend it without another visit. Overall, I'd give the place 3 stars because of how great the drunken chicken was. As we walked to our car after the meal, I commented to my wife how wide the gap was between the drunken chicken and the crepe appetizer. I got the feeling that there are probably a few 5 star dishes like drunken chicken on the menu, but that we'd experience a few more heartaches like tonight in order to find them. read more

We had our wedding reception with 40 people in the banquet space upstairs. I looked at several options and this one was by far the most private and beautiful of all the places in the area (north seattle to marysville). They were easy to work with and made lots of efforts to make me happy. The linens were great, good sound system, dance area, excellent service, and of course A+ food! My guests were amazed at what a fancy wedding I had put together in 2 months; but I couldn't have done it without this place. The waitress was soooo sweet and attentive and everything was served right as planned. There's no other place that even comes close to this one for the price! I'm so thankful for Terracotta Red! I love the food here! I have fallen in love with Asian food because of Terracotta Red! I could seriously eat the emerald fire noodles everyday! I sub out the flank steak for chicken - I prefer it that way but no matter the protein it's delicious. I also love the Red Curry and my husband has enjoyed everything he has ordered. We stopped in here trying to escape traffic hell. The satay chicken tasted burnt. The mussels tasted like you were eating mussels during low tide directly off of the floor of the beach. And no bread with the mussels, just sweet potato fries (wtf??). The waitress advised us there was no bread in the entire restaurant. Okay. So, when we asked the bus girl for a knife to cut the chicken, she asks "You mean like a butter knife?" The space and service at Terracotta Red are commendable, but the food has room for improvement. Our order of beef and broccoli with a side of jasmine rice and a chicken wing starter was a mixed bag. The wings were flavorful with a great texture, but would have been better with a dipping sauce. Our rice was adequately sticky, but lacked the typical fragrance of jasmine rice, and needed salt. The beef and broccoli was the biggest disappointment. It was devoid of flavor, and the beef was inconsistent. Some slices were thin an lean, and others were thick and fatty. None had a distinct taste. The visible minced garlic added no flavor, and the most prominent taste was the thickener used in the sauce. It wasn't​ good at all. The portions were small for the price, and the entree was lackluster. There are better options nearby, so it's unlikely a return visit will happen. read more

Considering all the buzz I had heard about this place, I really expected better. It's not that it was bad, it just wasn't as good as I was expecting. Combine that with the higher than average prices and the smaller than average portions and I'm out. We're in Everett here, not Bell Town. My dad and I ordered several noodle and rice dishes and they were fairly tasty but I felt like there could have been more veggies. The meat was a little dry and the rice and noodles not moist enough. The service was good and friendly and the ambiance was kind of cool. Maybe if they lowered the prices $2 a dish, made them a little larger and made them less dry, I would really like it. read more

Amazing place. I've eaten lunch there several times but this was my first time for dinner. We called for reservations for a birthday party last weekend and they set us up nicely. The service was excellent and the manager was top notch. The food was so good that we just kept eating and eating although we should have stopped. This is going to be one of my regular places to eat. Everything was cooked to perfection and it's the first time in my life that I've actually enjoyed calamari. If you like Mongolian beef, you're in for a real treat. What a great find in the city of Everett! It is a nice room and we had great service. We ordered Dylan Pork Belly Love, Kalbi Short Ribs, Drunken Chicken, and Garlic Noodles. The Crispy Pork Belly was fantastic, the Kalbi short ribs were very sweet and very good. The Chicken was cooked perfectly and was moist and flavorful. The noodles were good but a little bit lacking in garlic flavor. Terracotta Red will now be on our list of favorite places to eat in Everett. read more

I have to say that good restaurants in Everett are always welcome, and Terracotta Red meets the requirements. My wife and I tried Terracotta Red for the first time last Saturday. The atmosphere is nice and the menu was robust without being confusing. We tried the Samosas and Indian Corn Fritters to start, and then had Beef Chow Fun and Pepper Beef for mains. Both were very good dishes. The service was friendly and prompt without being overbearing. I am sure we will return sometime soon. read more

First time here. Nice place, nice staff. Food was just okay. I was looking forward to having samosa's, but turned out hugely disappointed. Very little stuffed inside over fried dumpling. Beef and broccoli tasted fine. Crispy drunken chicken had 'no heat' as it suggested it would. Loud place......hard to have a conversation! Overall an unhappy meal. Love this place! Boyfriend and I have gone many times, and always have had a great experience. Yummy cocktails, interesting and delicious menu. We always get at least one item off of the fresh sheet, and have never been disappointed. Nice that they have plenty of gluten-free options clearly marked on the menu. We went to Terracotta Red tonight for the first time and it is now our favorite restaurant. Great food, great staff. Aaron, who was our busser, is an incredible young man, always had a smile on, and as busy as he was, his attention to detail was terrific. Same with Jessica, our server/bartender who was equally busy (we ate in the bar) but equally attentive. We had the drunken chicken, Si Chaun string beans, chicken satay and tangerine beef, oh and the donuts. All were out of this world and we came home with enough for two more meals. Can't wait to go back!!!! Definitely a find, I would tell all our friends but then it may get too busy! read more

Been going here for years! Never have been unhappy with the food or service! Drunken Chicken and Garlic Noodle are my go to!

I strongly advise anybody who enjoys eating, or food, to avoid this place. The kitchen seems to be staffed with incompetent ignoramuses. The servers are great, but vastly ignorant of the food and ingredients. The noise level was okay, then several people were seated and it got loud. They were having normal conversations, that's all. The space is cute, but designed, it seems, with little to no understanding of acoustics. Terracotta Red fails on all fronts. The food, such as it was, is crap. My wife and I ordered the same thing, but with different meat and spice levels. The kitchen twits swapped the spice levels, it seems. Plus everything was WAY too salty. When the server inquired about our food, we explained the situation, and she returned the "food" to the kitchen for replacement. When we ordered, I told her "9 stars, stupid hot." She said they went up to 5 but she'd make sure the kitchen knew it was five full stars. I got 2-star. With the replacement dish, I got 3-star (maybe). What both dished had in common was an abundance of flavorless dried chili husks. I chewed on several, but they remained flavorless. As with much of Terracotta Red, dried chili husks are all show and no go. I asked the server about these husks, and she said they did that to boost the spice level. Evidently she is not aware that dried chili husks only add color to a dish. They're frickin' flavorless plastic. Anyway, back to what they call food. The replacement dish was overly-salty as well. It was a lot of oyster sauce, a bit of hoi sin, and some sambal on the noodles. And it was was salty, though not quite as salty as the first one. I can drink sauce from the bottle with much the same effect (though not as chewy). I, sadly, have the opinion that servers should know a bit about the food they are serving. Strangely enough, I also think the cooks should have some rudimentary understanding of ingredients. This is not the case at Terracotta Red. If they oh-so-eagerly add flavorless showpieces, and over-salt the JEEZUS out of a dish . . . . clearly they should return to fifth grade and start over. I kinda doubt the directions for the preparation of the dishes we ordered would have intentionally been so salty. So, either the kitchen-monkeys were trying to think for themselves (oh, the pain!) and added way too much salt; or the Salt Fairy bestowed an abundance of sodium chloride to our dishes alone. Or the directions are to make a disgustingly salty dish. None of these are edible options. In their defense, the several spinach leaves were not overcooked. That's the best I can say. read more

This is our favorite restaurant. We are a gluten free family and this place can make most of their most popular dishes gluten free. Service has always been fantastic and it has a family feel to it. Was in a party of seven last night and it was everyone's first time there. As a table we were able to try quite a few things: potstickers (very good), chicken wings, Mongolian Beef (2 diners thought this was the best dish - great flavor and tender beef,) Tangerine Beef, Drunken chicken (this was ok - very big pieces of meat, but not as tasty as the other meat dishes,) Heaven and Earth, Caramelized Spicy Tiger Prawns (delicious!) The Chinese donuts seemed really dry - wouldn't order those again. All in all, delicious food and all of us are planning to go again in the future. Best Asian fusion place in Snohomish County. They have or can make most dishes gluten free, always have a few local beers on tap, and serve huge portions. Recommend ordering a couple to share. This is, without a doubt, our favorite Everett restaurant. Asian fusion is the name of the game, and Terra Cotta Red is a top competitor. Terra Cotta Red would easily be as at home in any chic Seattle neighborhood as it is in its unique spot on Hewitt Ave.--right at the end of everything. While the restaurant is located in an old building, the interior is like stepping into another world. Soft shades of green and deep tones of red grace the walls. Leafy fern patterns embedded in the paint give the place a calm Asian ambiance. Nothing typical about this place. The decor is just to set the mood for what is to come. Friendly, efficient staff, uniformed in black, greet you soon after your seated. You are immediately supplied with your own glass bottle of iced water to serve the table. No waiting or worrying over empty water glasses here. Food is served quickly and with great attention to eye appeal. Sauces are spectacular and the quality of the meats is above and beyond expectation. Breast of chicken favored over thigh meat, high-quality cuts of beef triumph over cheaper offerings usually associated with "Chinese" restaurant food. Set all of your preconceptions to the side and settle in for an excellent dining experience. My husband and I always argue over the Drunken Chicken or the Mongolian Beef. I want my own Druken Chicken, thank you and I have no intention of sharing. Inevitably we end up with one of each. Portions are generous, so save for tomorrow's lunch because you do not want to miss desert. Our favorite is the droughts. Light, airy, fresh out of the fryer and served with a tart fruit sauce that is the perfect juxtaposition to the sugary confection. Terracotta Red is our "go to" place for fine food. read more

We have 2 $25 gift certificates for this restaurant and we still won't be going back... Service was horrible, our waitress never smiled and had zero charm. Our food for our party of 4 was brought out in 3 intervals over 15 minutes (no exaggeration) and as we were eating family style it was either eat at the intervals our food was coming out in or wait and eat our food cold. All 5 dishes that we ordered were hard and dry, as if they were overcooked. For the price you pay, the quality simply was not there. I go to Terracotta Red at least once a month and it is by far one of my most favorite restaurants in the North End. The food is fresh, local, tastes and looks amazing, the place is very nice, but not super fancy, and the staff front and back are great. Chef Jimmy has worked at the Herb Farm and you can see his classical training in his depth of flavors and presentation. His proteins are always PERFECTLY cooked, whether it's steak, chicken, or prawns they are always right on the money! The sauces are made to order so you can have them adjust certain things to your taste. Favorite Dishes (no particular order): Crispy Drunken Chicken: Probably the most ordered dish at TR. Emerald Fire Noodles: Not nearly as spicy as the name implies. I order with a couple extra stars. This dish has a touch of ginger that's very nice Kung Pao Chicken: The texture and flavor is amazing! You gotta try this... Tangerine Beef: For those who like Orange Beef, this dish is for you. Curry Red: I ask for the sauce to be thick. Sometimes it comes out a little too soupy for my taste. Crispy Walnut Prawns: Very good and popular Thai Rice Noodle: Prawns, lime, peanuts, and mint in perfect harmony. Chicken & Coconut Milk Soup: I had this at lunch which was amazing. Sweet, spicy and a nice touch of mint. Ordered it at dinner which is made to order and was a little disappointed when compared to the lunch version. Still delicious... the flavors just weren't as strong. Terra Salad: Fresh tender greens, awesome miso-ginger vinaigrette dressing and crispy yam chips! Other dishes I have tried: Mongolian Scallion Beef: They do a deep caramelization on this sauce which makes it have a smoky if not almost burnt flavor. This is done on purpose. I would order it with a lighter sauce in the future. Short Ribs: Good flavor, just decided I don't like short ribs... Grilled Kurobuta Pork Shoulder: A light dish, nice use of fish sauce, but not the bold flavors I crave from the other dishes mentioned. Wok Tossed Beef Medallions: My friend ordered this. I'm not a mushroom fan, but these were good. Great sauce, tender beef. Lunch is a great way to go since the portions are still great, includes your choice of soup or salad, and white/brown rice. All for about $10-12! Happy Hour is also very fun since most of the appetisers are only $3! It is worth going for the $5 calamari or baby ribs. They're excellent. Also try the Indonesian Corn Fritter! Obviously I really like this place. Food and service is always very good. As other's have mentioned it can get loud when it's busy. For a Wednesday night, they were slammed. That's the only excuse I can imagine for their performance. They weren't awful, but we were disappointed. It wasn't deafening, but our ears were ringing when we hit the sidewalk. The food wasn't bland but the undercooked onions in my Shanghai Noodles overwhelmed the uninspiringly sparse portion of duck and prawns. The portions were significantly smaller than we anticipated for the price, and less adventurous than their descriptions implied. Service was hectic and flagrantly inattentive. Presentation appeared incongruously casual for the atmosphere (and price). $20 for her honey walnut shrimp tasted like $10 too expensive. We didn't waste time on dessert. Even if they offered us a 50%-off coupon, I doubt we'd return. read more
