They have a huge range of beds, wardrobes, dining tables and chests of drawers here, all at reasonable prices. The furniture isn't stunning, but then it won't break the bank and it will do what it's meant to do. The staff are friendly and the vibe is quiet. You could wander around here and have a good luck at everything here without people hassling you to make a sale. Oh and they sell carpets too. A bit of everything really and much closer than Ikea.

Everything looked fine and dandy when they came to fit it, however, afterwards when they had left and we were putting things in we noticed there were a LOT of scratches all over the wood inside the door and there was also what seemed like ROT on the corner of the shelf inside. We also discovered a loose knut that hadn't been drilled in properly so we had to use our own screwdriver to do it, even though we had to PAY for the guys to fit it for us. What took the mick even further was when I opened up a drawer on the bedside table, there were some CRISPS and LEAVES inside. What the hell? It makes me think whether the set was new or whether it was a show room one. We rang up to complain and they said to send in photos of the evidence we found in email to them, which we duly did but have never gotten a reply off them which is very unprofessional and sly. I could never recommend this place based on my experience and will warn everyone NOT to consider it. The quality is no better than what you get in Ikea anyway, but at least when things go wrong in Ikea, you can take it back.

As my friends will tell you, I love a bargain. I have been known to buy things I don't need or even…read morelike, because they've been cheap. I always get a good feeling when I grab a bargain, more so when it's something I actually want. And when it's for charity, well that makes it even better! The Wes, as it is affectionately known by locals, runs entirely on donations and voluntary work and aims to help those who might not be able to afford to furnish their homes by offering everything they sell at incredibly low prices. A fridge will set you back £25, a washing machine £35 and you can pick up a double bed for £20. It's a great place to go if you're just setting up house; me and the boyf got a dining table with four chairs, and a bedside table, for £60. The dining set is incredible quality, and the chairs are very similar to ones sold in M&S for £150 a pair. Needless to say, I was pretty chuffed with that particular bargain. As well as a fantastic furniture section, the Wes has a great section of bric a brac, where we picked up two camping chairs for festival season for £10. This section sells clothes, shoes and household bits and bobs, and there is a great book section, with books from as little as 20p. The Wesley prides itself on supplying low price furniture "to those in greatest need from all over the City of Manchester". As if its low prices weren't enough, they also offer 'starter' packs for £50-80, for those who have very low incomes and who can get a referral letter from the council, or social services. These starter packs are a great resource for those who are really in need. The Wes is a fantastic hidden gem with a real heart of gold. All of the money spent on furniture here goes to the running of the centre, and it's such a good cause that it makes me feel even better about grabbing a bargain.

Harveys Furniture is my favourite furniture store in the Peel Centre, it had much better service…read moreand selection than DFS nearby, it is a rather large store although slightly smaller than nearby DFS, with Bensons for Beds occupying the upper level of this store with a lift between the two making it fully accessible. I came here with a new sofa in mind, I had a very specific idea of what I wanted in a new sofa which was: - A two-seater yet not too large as it had to fit in my small living room - Comfortable yet I didn't care for more premium features such as reclining - Armrests which were spacious yet not too high (to act as a mini table if you will to rest my laptop) I'm pleased to say I was able to find a sofa to match my specifications, unlike at DFS nearby and the staff member seemed really helpful, one thing I liked was she didn't care about her commission, she cared about getting me the right sofa and delivering good service: she had no problem taking me to the clearance range first and helped explained about the product and how it was firm due to only coming in a few days ago where it was returned by a customer who changed her mind. I did have to wait a little while for her to confirm everything and communicate with the delivery driver as I did live over 15 miles away, I only came to this store as it is the easiest for me to get to via public transport, with it only being around 3/4 of a mile from Stockport Railway Station which is around 7-18 minutes on the train from Manchester, with the quicker services being with Avanti West Coast and CrossCountry. I was told that as it was a clearance item I couldn't pay on finance but that was fine as I had no intention of doing that anyway, the only slightly frustrating thing for me was the high delivery charge compared to other sofa places, but I was willing to pay it as £69 is only a little bit more than the £30-£40 average charge and considering I do live a little further out, and this was a bespoke product (there was only one) I liked which already had a good reduction in price at £479 and they could even deliver it the same day within a couple of hours, I was pleased with that. Harvey's also had genuinely lovely people as the staff, as my original server had too many customers at once, someone else who was free took over and they actually tried to persuade each other to take the commission on my order, I've never seen staff fight over why the other worker should get the bonus before, it wasn't an aggressive fight, it was just a friendly chat between friends more than anything, and if Harvey's are listening they both deserved it for excellent service! I would have liked to see a better selection of other items such as tables, however, and more of a variety of colours on their clearance range would have also been more exciting, but still, a rather good furniture shop where I finally found my sofa! 4*

If you've ever rented a furnished flat in the centre of Manchester then you'll know the kind of…read morestuff that I'm about to describe. You know those leathery, squeaky, not-quite-as-big-as-you-would-like two-seater couches? Glass TV and coffee tables that are slightly rickety and look a bit naff? Those dining tables that have a glass top and don't look very nice? Basically, Land of Furniture sells all of those things. They have so many three piece sweets. Not one would I personally buy, being of the yucky, squeaky, leathery variety. They all cost about a grand too. The shop is full of the things, so much that it's a almost bursting at the seams with them. They're on the walls even. Maybe I'm just a bit too young and student-y to appreciate a nice leatherish sofa.
