On the outside, this unassuming pharmacy looks like any other under the Malouf banner group. But…read morethis pharmacy is my hero having saved me many times from spending an uncomfortable night waiting in the emergency room. You know how sometimes you get sick in the middle of the night but it's not life threatening so you'll get triaged to the bottom of the emergency pile. If you're lucky, sometimes the pharmacy will have the medication you need allowing you to bypass emergency. This is why I appreciate Malouf pharmacy in Mt Gravatt so much. After Terry White at Coorparoo, this is probably the latest opening pharmacy on the south side of Brisbane. It shuts at 9:30pm six nights out of seven and opens public holidays. There's also a bulk billing doctor surgery next door and a QML pathology in the same shopping complex. It usually has decent gift lines but honestly, where there's such a hardworking health team, not having a make-up counter or cheap perfumes isn't a deal breaker.
Very poor experience from seller, ebay, paypal. Cancelled this item within 3 minutes of purchase…read moreafter realising the postage cost more than the item itself.Multiple cancellation messages were sent via eBay and PayPal over the weekend. While I did not expect a response outside business hours, the seller did not read nor check any correspondence before posting the item at 9am Monday. The messages were only read hours after posting, making the situation entirely avoidable. 3 weeks later, refunded.
Pharmacies used to be just the place to get your prescriptions filled. Not so anymore. These days,…read morethe pharmacy is the place for primary health care so it pays to go to a regular pharmacy where the staff and pharmacist are familiar with you and your family. For instance, just the other day I ran out of my prescription medication and couldn't get into the medical centre. My regular pharmacy was able to contact my doctor, organise all the paperwork and provide an emergency supply over the weekend. Healthy World Pharmacy in Mount Gravatt is my pharmacy of choice for its friendly staff, convenience AND huge range of cosmetics. I'm not kidding. They have a huge range of cheap cosmetics. I remember their original pharmacy in Stones Corner use to be known as make-up and perfume specialists. Well, they've brought the same range to their Mt Gravatt shop. It's great browsing through their discounted Loreal, Maybelline and Elizabeht Arden lines while waiting for my prescription. For those more into their health than make-up, Healthyworld also offer a full time naturopath and specialise in sports/ body building and nutritional supplements. Their downstairs location is directly next to a bulk billing medical centre with both male and female doctors. So for those people living in the Mt Gravatt area, taking care of your health is now quick, affordable and convenient.

This discount chemist always has great bargain bins chock full of $1 tissues, toothpastes, washing…read moredetergent and handy wipes. It's a great incentive to make me want to shop here. Unfortunately, having shopped here a couple of times, their prescription service is not very effective. They have this system where customers go to the back of the store to get their scripts filled or purchase over-the-counter medications. Once your script is filled, you take it to the front of the shop for payment. I think they have set up this system to make a clear distinction between the health care component and the general shop. At the back of the store, you can get pharmacist counselling and pick up prescriptions. However, money exchanges hands at the front of the shop. It sounds good in theory except when you just want to buy $1 tissues but you're stuck behind a pensioner who forgot to hand in his pension card and therefore his prescription had gone through at full price. The poor sales assistant had to run to the back of the shop with the pension card, the pharmacist had to re-process the script, the sales assistant had to come back, then the pharmacist realised he also had to re-process the repeat prescription, the pensioner had to hand over the prescription again. The entire process took five minutes longer than it should. Needless to say, the line of people waiting to get served was pretty restless. So while this may be a convenient pick up point for toiletry, think twice before going in if you're in a rush.

Sometimes, like at the supermarket, when somebody forgets their number for their card, then they have to pay cash, then they don't have enough so have to put stuff back, there, also, people get muddled.......maybe we all have to remember that we are all getting to that age as the days pass. They do have generic brands available for some medications and also offer a tablet fill service, where the daily tablets go into special trays for ease of taking.

Usually the only chemists this large are those discount ones that…read moresell everything at slightly cheaper prices and somehow manage to fill entire basketball court sized shops with products. This one is not especially welcoming from the outside and they don't have anything of great excitement on their shelves, but it's a chemist and they've got heaps of stuff so it's certainly a useful one.

What I don't love about this chemist is the prices for things like certain oils and other lotions that other places don't charge as much for. What I think makes this chemist stand out from the crowd of many chemists is the fact that every Wednesday there is a Baby Nurse there. She is a lovely hippy trippy lady who used to be a midwife, and does free consultations for your baby provided you book in advance! How cool is that. She even gives your baby a bit of a special massage after to relax bubba for the car trip home. She weights your baby, measures head circumference... examines baby for ailments and answers any questions you might have if you are a clueless new mother like I was and sometimes, still am! She is a big fan of natural therapy and you don't have to follow her advice 100%, but how good is it to have a free service like this one? It's awesome.

The prescriptions counter is conveniently located near the Medical Practice so as soon as I'm done with my appointment, I go straight there to pick up my prescriptions. The Pharmacists there are very nice. I have had queries to do with different brands of medicine and they were quick to answer with helpful information. They are discreet so if you have any questions which you feel are quite personal, they handle the queries with the upmost professionalism. I like this chemist for their professional and friendly nature, the great stock they have and the convenience of being next to my local GP.

The parking lot is a pain in the you know what, it's pretty narrow and shared with a few automotive stores, so if you're not the best parker (let's be friends) I advise you come later in the day to get a decent spot :)

This kid was quickly getting out of hand and he wasn't eating anything. So I got in the car, and drove and found all the places around me were shut... slowly getting a bit worried and thinking I'd finally lost my mind, I head over to my brother's place at Indooroopilly and see (ta daaaaa) Chemist Warehouse is open until 8pm! At first i'm thinking, are they just bright lights or are they actually open... open! Park the car, got my formula... and realised the range of vitamin's they had in there as well as your standard fair chemist supplies at really good prices. So I grabbed some lip balm as well by the cashier. Damn impulse buys. I found this not only really convenient for me, it was a lifesaver, and can be quite literally if you need a chemist when all the others closed at 6-7pm. Really good as well for those awkward moments you don't want anyone else around for to ask the chemist. You know what i'm talking about! It's always good to know that you can order this stuff from Chemist Warehouse online too. It's got my tick of approval, and my son's too.
