My husband had a hell of a time talking to them a week before when he use their service to get to EWR and he needed to change his pickup time due to the impending snowstorm. Since you can't speak to a human I had to text one cancellation with the conformation number. As it turned out they cancelled both cuz they didn't read the text. I texted when they didn't show and was told I cancelled. Texted back that if they read the text it was just one. Finally got a text back that they would probably be there in about 30 min or so. TAXI NEVER SHOWED!!! COST ME $160!! WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS My family and I travelled down to Florida for a wedding and we scheduled Terry's appropriately in advance for the morning of May 19. They never showed up OR called to let us know they wouldn't be coming for a 3am pickup time. This almost caused us to miss our flight. We had to spend over $160 on a last minute Uber black car as we had a large amount of bags for a week's stay. I tried to reach them on the morning of May 19th but was unable to get through as the automated system offers no direct line and the voicemail is always full. We also received no answer from the text message we sent. This is not anywhere close to anything resembling good customer service and my family and I will never use nor will we recommend this company to anyone in the future. Terry's used to be super reliable, but I'm not really sure what happened these past few years. They advertise themselves as NJ's biggest, but I can't help but think that won't last, considering my experience and the experience of others here (and I see they don't respond to reviews either). Price was right which is why we booked. Driver for trip to airport was on time, but vehicle was in poor condition. My husband had to maneuver the door to close it, while the driver stuck a screwdriver into the hinge. Nice. Car was on its last legs, and it stunk. Tried to get confirmation on pick-up procedures but texts were not responded to, and no one answered their phone. Oh, and voicemail was "full". Uh huh. When we arrived at the airport, and after trying to call them and text them a few more times, they finally called and told me that they had been trying to call (the audacity!!! we have smart phones, folks... we know full well if anyone tries to call us or leave a vm). Apparently their driver got a flat on 78. Oh really? After reading all of these reviews, I think they just screwed up the pick-up. It's midnight, I'm at Newark without a way to get home. Stay away. Reserved a 330am pickup to go to Newark for my wife on their website. They confirmed the reservation after I sent them a txt message. The damn driver never arrived. My wife had to catch a flight and was stressed as they were more than 20minutes late. She ended up driving to the airport. PS: when using them to get to airport we had told them we had 2 people with ski equipment. But they sent a driver who had 2 passengers already plus a baby seat in car! I've used this service many times over the past 6 years. I found the drivers to be courteous and personable. Only a few times did the driver arrive late for pickup at home address. In those cases the driver was delayed mostly by traffic or previous passenger not ready for his/her pickup. Their website is quite user-friendly with immediate confirmation sent to email address. I didn't give 5 stars because some of the vehicles I've been in were a bit worse for wear. However, I must admit the taxis were comfortable regardless of their outward appearance. Dates of service for this year: May, July and August. Newark Liberty International was the destination for all those dates. One recommendation to Terry's Taxi: please put a sign in the window letting customers know the vehicle is part of Terry's fleet. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A MORE DANGEROUS CAR RIDE IN MY LIFE. Please read this full review to understand why NOBODY should use Terry's taxi. They handled a dangerous situation in a careless, potentially deadly manner. I will begin by saying that I have used Terry's Taxi before and they did a good job for a reasonable price. However, the last ride that I had was not just bad-- it was life threatening. I am only taking the time to write this negative review (which I rarely/if ever do) because it was literally a DANGEROUS experience and it is important to everyone's safety that they know about this. The following experience happened to me after I reserved a pick up 8 days in advance from Newark Airport back to Morristown NJ for a flight arriving at 6am. Despite my far-in-advance reservation, Terry's was 50 minutes late, and I stood outside the airport as the receptionist on the phone continued to tell me "10 minutes.... 5 minutes... any minute now" while 50 minutes passed. I finally got into the taxi car, and about 10 minutes into the ride on 24 west the car started drifting into another lane. The driver was fully sleeping. I screamed to wake him up, and instead of looking back at the road, he did a full 180 and turned to look at me in utter confusion. It was only when I Screamed and pointed "YOU'RE DRIVNG ON THE HIGHWAY" that he turned around and took the wheel. I should have gotten out of the car right then, in retrospect, because standing on the side of the highway would have been safer than staying in this mans car, but I had 3 pieces of luggage and, like I said, we were in the middle of the highway. For a second time the driver fell asleep turning onto columbia turnpike and almost hit another car. The woman in that car had to swerve away from him and was honking and cursing in horror. I will not speculate on whether he was sleepy, overworked, or on drugs. But this was not a man capable of safely drivng a car. Thankfully I arrived safely home, and I told him he should not be driving a taxi if he cant stay awake. He confusedly muttered "yah," and left. I called Terry's Taxi and waited on hold for 7 minutes so I could let them know that this driver should not be on the road; he should not pick up any more customers for the day because he fell asleep twice with me. The woman who answered, Tara, told me she had just gotten into the office and that she had no idea who my driver was so she couldn't pull him from the road. I asked her if there was some way to look him up, and I described the car and what he looked like. She repeated that she was just getting into work and she would have the owner call me back "at their earliest convenience." This happened 4 days ago and I have not heard from anyone at Terry's Taxi. Not only was it unprofessional that they were 50 minutes late, not only was it dangerous that they employ a driver who was falling asleep on the highway, but they DID NOT CARE and openly told me there was nothing they were going to do about it. Booking the service was easy and the price was great. I planned on having them take me to the airport and pick me up. The taking part was good. They were on time for pick up but the driver insisted on talking on his Phone while driving which made us almost drive into oncoming traffic. Get a Bluetooth!!!!! Coming home we waited for the driver for 30 minutes AFTER we picked up our bags. Now, I feel a car service, if you are picking up customers at the airport, should be there to help with luggage and make things easy for the customer. But this place doesn't do it. We have to meet them at departures, getting our own luggage, lugging it up to the top level and wait 30 minutes. So basically you are paying a taxi not a service. I don't like waiting for the car after I sat in a plane, then waited for everyone to get out of the plane, then waited for my luggage. HORRIBLE communication and service. Do not use, ever! While not a frequent flier, I have used Terry's Taxi for trips to and from Liberty (Newark) International Airport for many years. Until recent years their service was 100% reliable. About three to four years ago this changed. They had installed a new automated booking system. I booked a trip on line and was picked up and dropped off in NYC. The driver asked for $20 more than I booked for. I explained and showed him my order on my cell. He called the office and dispatch said the system was new, the higher amount was correct and offered no apology or adjustment. Not wanting to stiff the driver, who was a semi-contractor, I split the difference with him, although I was not obligated to. I called dispatch, complained and was told the owner would definitely call me back. It never happened. Back to the present issue. Why, you might ask, I called them after this incident? I figured one time in many years wasn't bad. I did Uber a number of times since. However, this time I has skis and didn't want the possible hassle of them being too large for a vehicle; Terry's uses vans. Now, back to the present day. Lo and behold, another system upgrade....I use the term upgrade loosely. It is impossible to contact a person. I needed clarification. Why? For one thing, there is no boxes to fill in flight information, just a time you want to be picked up. And what if you your delayed, in the air, and can't contact them? There terms say, "$1 for each minute of wait time." More about that later. You call the phone number. A recording directs you to their website. You click on FAQ. Nothing there; it's under development. You go to their info@, send a message, and it bounces back...No such address. You text and get a canned answer, they'll get back to you and do not. Finally, the one time I got a human. FIVE MINUTES BEFORE MY PICKUP! We'll be 25 minutes late. The driver locked his keys in the car while getting gas! At 6am you bite the bullet and pray. I asked the guy about how I convey flight info to them. He said, fill it in on the form, like, what are you stupid? I said there's no place. He responded, like I should know. Put it in the, "Additional Comments" box, he said. I did so, and when I checked, there was nothing updated on the form. I texted the info and got the usual but untrue message, we'll get right back to you. I was also told the $1 /minute wait charge didn't apply to flight delays. Driver picks me up. "Flies" me to the airport at 80 MPH. Drops me off at level 3. I needed level 1. I just made my flight with 10 minutes to spare. Okay the return trip. I actually got confirmation they would pick me up. Flight landed. I get text, they'll be an hour late. An hour later, still no driver, and I text them. Fortunately for me someone gets back to me. They give me a cell number to call the driver direct. I do so. He's from a different cab company. This was the first he heard of my pick up, and...again, fortunately for me....he had just dropped a fare at the airport. Finally, I got home. BEWARE! DON'T USE TERRY's! read more

I have used Terry's in the past with no issues but it appears things have changed there. I booked a RT to Newark airport and was sent confirmation emails for each trip. The ride to the airport was great. No issues, driver was on time and courteous. When we arrived back in Newark my wife and I along with our 2 year old son were left stranded at EWR at 2am in the morning. I called time after time only to be placed on hold for 20 mins again and again. They are that busy at 2am on a Monday night? Yeah right. I had to take an uber home which cost 125.00. When you call Terry's they state they are the "fastest growing taxi co. In NJ!" Not for long with this kind of treatment to loyal customers. Every time, except for one, I stayed on hold for 10-15 minutes before throwing in the towel. And that one exception -- they had no one available. I don't usually give reviews without sampling a service, but in this case I've spent more time on hold than I would have in the back of a Terry's Taxi. Driver was on time and took care in handling our bags. The vehicle (in our case a 2011 Toyota minivan) was in very good condition and was clean. The driver was safe, but got us to the airport ahead of schedule, which was good because we needed to eat before we got on our flight anyways. The driver was professional, but friendly and easy to talk to. He even knew which terminal to go to when we forgot what number it was! Overall, we were very pleased with Terry's Taxi and would definitely ride with them again. Also I noticed other reviews mentioning drivers not wearing Bluetooth headsets to talk on the phone, but our driver did in fact have one, and when we needed to say something to him he would listen to us instead, during the one call he made at the beginning of the ride. I had scheduled a Newark Airport pickup. Terry's Taxi asked for my flight information so they would track my arrival. When I landed I called the driver number they had texted me and he sounded like he was asleep in bed. He said he had been taken off the assignment and another driver would be picking me up. I called Terry's Taxi number and they said there was some type of mix up and I would be picked up in 25 minutes. They told me they would reduce my fare to $30. After waiting 30 minutes I got a call from the new driver saying he was 20 minutes away. A driver finally showed up in a cab from a different company to pick me up. Really, really awful. The driver who picked us up to go to the airport was 10 minutes late, in a crappy old mini van, speeding on the highway while answering calls and actually making calls on his cellphone - not hands free - while driving. Speeds that normally wouldn't bother me are terrifying when you're in a beat up old van that is shaking. The pickup at the airport was 40 minutes late, and even though it was scheduled in advance, I don't think they left to get us until after we landed and went to the pickup spot, even when we told them we had landed and had our luggage. It wasn't a very busy day at EWR, and it would not take 40 minutes to get in, if they were parked just outside the airport. This mini van was even worse than the first one. There was rust all over the outside, and a huge crack going halfway across the windshield.. I've seen other reviewers mentioning this same windshield, so great job being on top of those repairs.. UberXL would have been cheaper (I checked, while we waited), and if Terry's Taxi isn't going to be there when you arrive, then you might as well just call Uber or Lyft when you get there, probably wait less, spend less, and be picked up by a vehicle that can legally be on the roads. Have used Terry's Taxi for some personal trips in the past. It's been a long time since I used them but figured I would give them a try again. Booking the trip was fairly easy but the driver showed up 20 minutes late picking us up. We saw the door to the gate close as we were rushing through the terminal. Those 20 minutes were pretty precious minutes in our case and would have gotten us on the plane. We sent a note to them about this and got no response. Return trip was even worse. In the end, we cancelled at the airport and took an Uber home which was actually turned out to be 12 dollars cheaper than Terry's. Their fleet needs to be updated as well. A minivan picked us up and the windshield was cracked from left to right and the right door was damaged and dented in. The driver told us the windshield damage occurred over a week ago and the door damage was several months ago. Driver was also busy texting the the pick up of a passenger while he was driving. I told him that it was illegal and he stopped but continued a few minutes later. Not sure if ownership has changed but this isn't the same Terry's Taxi that I remember in the past. Today they never showed up for an airport pickup and never notified us. We had to scramble to get to the airport on our own . We booked a roundtrip ticket to NYC using Terry's Taxi this past week. We confirmed both reservations several days in advance. We had used Terry's Taxi in the past and had always been pleased, although we were a little hesitant after reading all of the recent negative reviews on Yelp. The pick up to NYC went as expected. The cab showed up a few minutes early and the trip to NYC was uneventful. Once in the cab, we only had the option to pay cash. Not that big of a deal, but it would have been nice to be able to pay with a credit card. Most businesses today offer a variety of payment options at the time of payment. For the return trip, we received an email from Terry's Taxi confirming the time and location. The pickup time came and went but there was no sign of Terry's Taxi. We texted Terry's Taxi to check on the ETA after an hour of waiting and we received the following response: "WE DO NOT HAVE A CONFIRMED RESERVATION SCHEDULED FOR NOON TODAY". As others have already noted, we were unable to speak with a person on the phone. We responded with a screenshot of the email and PDF confirmation, which clearly listed the time and place. As expected, no word back from Terry's Taxi. We ended up finding an alternate way home, but only after much delay. We received no apology for the no-show and no measure of goodwill. Eventually burning your customers will catch up with you. Luckily, the taxi business is a competitive space and customers will vote with their wallets. In our case, we are going to vote with our wallet and we will never use Terry's Unresponsive & No-Show Taxi again. Hopefully others will do the same. read more

HORRIBLE - Story of how they treated my 83 year old grandmother. They were supposed to pick her up at the Newark airport and were not there when she arrived. She called the number multiple times with no response. She decided to text the company and they finally responded that the driver was late due to traffic. The women was an hour late due to this so called traffic. Then when my grandmother finally got into the taxi, the driver was excessively texting and driving. Due to my grandmothers discomfort with the this, she asked the women nicely to stop. The women ignored her, so that's when my grandmother said that if the driver did not stop texting and driving that she would notify the authorities (given that it is against the law and all). The driver freaked out yelling for my grandmother to get out of the car and driving in loops through Newark and Irvington threatening to leave her on the side of the road. In the end, the women refused to drive my grandmother to the location she requested and dropped her back at the airport. Luckily my grandmother knows how to use the Uber app and got home for half the price. THEN to add insult to injury, they had the nerve to charge her for the trip. Texted them twice to ask to confirm there would be a carseat for our toddler. Was told via text in all caps twice that carseat was confirmed. Van in very old and mediocre condition arrived with very friendly driver, Rick (he was the saving grace of this experience). No car seat. He told us he was never informed about the need for a carseat. Had to carry our two year old unsafely on our lap for ten minutes so he could drive to his house to get us his personal carseat from his family to install.
