The Fair, however, is the weekend after Labor Day Friday-Sunday. I've been attending since I was a small child, and they've done a good job maintaining their size. They have rides for children and the young at heart, and check their website because sometimes they'll offer all day ride passes for sale. The food truck vendors have lots of options to support these small businesses, and lots of cute animals to see in barns throughout the grounds. Parking is on a hill incline, and if that area gets full there's parking across the street. You'll know it's fair weekend because the cars can back up a good distance down the road. Going early is definitely a good idea to beat the lines.

There was a corn maze; $11 for ages 13+, free for 3 and under. The maze was fun but crowded at some points; they had trivia questions with the Peanuts theme. There were a couple of food trucks when we went (Soulfully Vegan and New Haven Food Truck), there was a kettle corn stand, face painting, etc. we got cider from there which was good, kettle corn was amazing, and the New Haven Pizza was bomb dot com. They had a $5 ride on a train which was very cute, especially for the kids. They had a store but we didn't go in because it was too crowded and we had a stroller. The property was gorgeous and the turn out for the festival was great. There were a ton of people and parking was ample, they had people guiding us. Overall, a fun festival to kick off the fall.

Canton Jamboree is an annual fundraiser event for the Collinsville Fire Department. It usually runs…read moreat the end of May from Wednesday to Saturday, at the Memorial Field. It's a fun carnival with food, rides, and games. This is the first year my family and I have been to it and we really enjoyed it. It's their 56th annual event. Parking was ample and organized. There were a ton of rides for all ages; my young children got to ride a few (unlimited rides at $35 per person). There were a handful of food vendors, porta potties, and some benches here and there. They also were serving beer, wine, hard seltzer, and mulled cider. It wasn't overly crowded and everything was well organized. They did a great job and we look forward to next year!

this was my first garlic fest and i literally had the time of my life. when they say they're over…read more200+ vendors, they seriously mean it!! it took me an hour just to browse around before really like stopping at the places i wanted to, it was incredible! they had so many unique booths and i got to try so many samples ranging from black garlic, garlic chocolate bark, garlic fudge, garlic vinegar, garlic cheese, so much more, i was in absolute heaven. all the non garlic vendors were also soo good, my bank account was definitely balling out this weekend, haha! can't wait for next year!

We saw carnival rides, carnival games, children's activities, two stages of live music, booths from 26 garlic growers, 97 Specialty Food Stands, 8 Soap vendors, 14 Food Court vendors, 60 craft vendors, 16 Snack Food Vendors, 12 Jewelry vendors, and 9 "miscellaneous" vendors. We walked around for an hour and picked up an eclectic group of stuff -a chili soup mix, a cinnamon chocolate chip bread, a salted caramel coconut beer blondie, a salted pretzel knot, two Asian dumplings, and a cup of chocolate Italian ices. It was outstanding, simply outstanding.

Scarecrows in all shapes and sizes were out near restaurants, shops, museums, and homes. It's sponsored by the Old Wethersfield Shopkeepers Association. Parking can be found on-street. We were able to find easy and free parking. The weather was beautiful on a perfect autumn day in October, when we went. The townspeople did a great job with decorating the scarecrows; they were creative and unique. We saw one that was a skeleton in a bathtub; another one were a handful of Olympic skeletons doing splits; another one with pumpkin heads; another one was a puppet and it's puppet master; a giant 12ft Skelly and its dog; and so many more. We enjoyed walking through, it was pretty busy especially at the shops and restaurants. There were people hosting tag sales on their front yards as well. Old Wethersfield is a great place to take a stroll and take in all that history. There's so much to see and if you're a history buff or just enjoy being outside or spooky season, I highly recommend checking this event out.

"The People Are The Parade"…read more This spooky Halloween Parade is held annually in Collinsville, CT, on the last Saturday of October. People in their costumes gather at 6pm and the parade starts at 7pm. In 2024, this is the 31st parade and my first time attending. The artists and volunteers in Collinsville assists by setting up the event, selling sweaters, clean up, and more. As a first timer, my family and I didn't know what to expect. I knew costumes were expected and parking is located on the side streets. Some of the main streets had a parking ban. We scored parking up the hill on Main Street. The parade started at the Canton Historical Society. The hosts were 3 women on stilts and a Monster Mike truck; the truck had a person riding on it with a mic and a few dozen people in orange jumpsuits chained to it. Everyone in costumes followed the truck. There were people scouting for the most spooky, creative, and funny costumes; at the end, they will be judged for best costumes. They also were selling the Collinsville Parade hoodies. The CollinsVILLAINS showed up! The houses were decorated spookily. The costumes were awesome. The overall spooky vibe was amazing and like none other. It will definitely be the first of many for my family and I because we love spooky season, Halloween, and Collinsville. Good job to all the volunteers and artists!

There was plenty of seating - if you also include the benches and fountain - and great vendors to choose from. I appreciated the diversity, and it was great to be reminded - by smell and taste! - of the variety Glastonbury has to offer. For $7, the ribs at J. Gilbert's was a solid choice. They practically fell off the bone, and the sauce was complementary without being overwhelming. Some other items were a little pricey for the portions, though. There were only two beers to choose from - Sam Summer and Ten Penny - and a few more wines. I'm kind of surprised they charged $1 for the ID band. They don't even do that in NYC! A quintessential local event. It was very fun and tasty. Great people watching, as well.

It was in an office park that was empty today, and there was a ton of parking with lot attendants to keep everything running smoothly. There was a big crowd, but the grounds were so spread out and there were so many food trucks we never really felt crowded in. We walked around the place a few times to get the lay of the land, see what trucks were there, and plan out our strategy for the day. We both went to the Tots Hots & Brats truck for a hot dog and a red hot .My Red Hot was excellent -big juicy with onions and peppers on a soft roll. I loved it. Dessert was an easy choice as we made a mutual beeline for the Shaved Ice truck. It was a different kind of shaved ice because you applied your own syrup to your personal mountain of shaved ice. The Food Fest was operated by USA Festivals out of Fort Myers, FL and they have a niche in organizing these events across the country. They sure did a great job with this one. Only negative is that it's just a 2-day affair -Saturday June 26 and Sunday June 27. So tomorrow's your last chance.
