Obviously the choice is quite limited being a convenience store but you will tend to find all the usually grocery items such as biscuits, bread, drinks and newspapers so if there's anything basic on your shopping list, then the Co-op is your place to come. There are however, sacrifices to make due to their slightly higher prices than your average supermarket. Not often you will find special offers too, such as 'bogof' deals. One drawback is that the shop is very tight in between the aisles but the Co-op isn't normally packed with customers anyway. The service is usually efficient and all-in-all, a shop that deserves some credit mainly benefiting the locals.

Not only was Mount Pleasant Apts close to Tesco, it was literally **right** above it. Toiletries, cleansers, food, snacks - you name it, Tesco's got it & prices are spot-on No heavy bags to schlep for ever & ever; no whim or craving unfulfilled.....WAY too easy to go overboard! .....let's just say that the people staying in the Apt after us got to enjoy an unopened Quart of Haagen Dazs, courtesy of us! (hope it was good!)

However, people can't deny how handy these places are, because they are often open later than local businesses, they have plenty of stock and are very convenient for all your grocery needs! This Brownlow hill branch is a great little lifesaver as it stays open late and it stocks everything a local student could need. It's slightly more expensive than the big Tesco superstore in Liverpool One, but it opens later and it opens 7 days. They reduce all their sandwiches mid afternoon and place them on trolleys by their tills/ this is great as it's about the time that most students will be getting out of bed and they can score their breakfast and lunch in an all day breakfast sandwich for about 60p! They are fully stocked with cigarettes, alcohol and magazines.. Perfect for a lazy Sunday, or any day if you're a doley!

One of the biggest carparks in the area, free for two hours and regularly patrolled, two ATM's before you go into the store open 24 hours, a petrol station with the lowest prices around and then the biggest supermarket with the best choices! Admittedly some of the prices are higher than other shops, but perfection doesn't go with shops anyway, in my view. Of course, its prime positive point is that you can finish all your shopping and walk over the road to the best pub around (the Ring O' Bells) or am I biased?

I do think access as a pedestrian into this store is a little difficult as there's only one gap allowing open access, which can be difficult in the dark, so do try to attend in a car if you can as I did struggle approaching from towards Sainsbury's. The store is clean, pretty modern and they had a good selection of most products. They even had a Costa Coffee machine which worked, on many trips to different ASDA stores lately the coffee machines have either been off-brand or turned off, so it was good that they're still offering that service here. The ASDA Parcel returns service is actually in a much bigger, more secure part of the store, I hated using this in the past as many of them tend to be in the foyer as you go into the store and it is so easy for someone to steal a parcel, but it's much more secure here, allowing you to return items to brands such as ASOS and Ellis Brigham with your mind at ease. There is also a Coinstar machine. 4* - Very good ASDA store but always worthwhile visiting Sainsbury's which is a couple of minutes away which has some other different/good food items, and a very good home range which this store can't compete with.

The girl with the luminous red hair was deep in conversation with the customer she was serving and also the operator on the checkout opposite. I didnt like to break up the "love in" so I started to pack the first few items in the ONE bag the staff member had provided. The deep conversation continued and now took in the staff on the till further along and being typically British I did not like to interupt. Even when the Flame haired checkout girl completely ignored the fact that I had no more bags left. This is where I made my fatal mistake. I reached across and took a bag from the hook at the rear of the till and continued to pack. The flame haired ones head spun around in mid conversation about the latest "Jordan hairdo" or some such tripe and said....and I quote. "Where did you get that bag from" ? "From that hook" was my surprised reply. And the highly trained staff retorted..... "Don't you dare do that again. If you want bags, you ask for them, you dont just take them." !!! "And if I dont ask for them ? " I asked. "Well if you dont ask then I will take it that you have your own and you wont get any of mine......by the way do you want any school vouchers ?" I loaded the trolley without any more bags and left the shopping where it was with the checkout operator shouting after me .."I dont make the rules, it might be different if I did" I complained to the stores duty manager who seemed very out of her depth. A really embarrasing experience brought about due to the store employing sub standard staff. I now shop at the Tesco store in Formby...a better class of people there.

I don't think Ive ever seen people having any trouble getting a parking space. This shop is, in my opinion, laid out in a better way than some Tesco stores as it is all on one level. There is a large range of clothes for men, children and women. You can find everything from a basic t-shirt to a lovely dress for a night out. There is also a large range of electronics offering an affordable selection of items such as TVs, mp3 players and kitchen appliances. The main purpose of the store is obviously to provide food and drink and they certainly have a massive range in this branch and they have a huge range of options available for every item you can think of. They offer the cheap no frills versions and luxury versions, and everything else in between. There are a great many tills in this Tesco and the staff work quickly to ensure that if a queue gets too long they will open up another till whenever possible. There are also several self service tills available which are easy to understand and are excellent for when you have a few items and are in a hurry to leave the store. The staff in this branch are very friendly. It is always easy to find someone if you need help and they are always quick to help and give service with a smile. Despite having another Tesco branch closer to my house it is not as good as this branch and I go here whenever possible. It is a friendly place which allows an enjoyable hassle free shopping experience.

The aisle are spacious enough for two people to be able to easily pass and it's easy to find and get to the items that you want. The queues are never too long and the staff are friendly. Plus most importantly it is open late, until 11pm most nights making it very handy for popping in to pick up those forgotten items or something nice for tea.
