There are cash points outside. This store sells everything you would expect from Tesco's but also offers clothes, toys, luggage etc. The store is well laid out. The isles are spacious and there is plenty of room to maneuver your trolley. The food is well presented and fresh. There is also a nice deli counter, where the staff serving you are clean, polite and helpful. The shelves are regularly stocked and if you ask any of the floor staff where an item is they are happy to show/advise you. The prices are very reasonable and there are always excellent deals on there products. They have a good sized restaurant/coffee shop with a varied menu, which is reasonably priced.

They really do go out of their way to try and help or resolve any type of question or issue you might be struggling with. So if anyone from Waitrose is reading my review I would like to say a very big thank you from myself and my friend who comes with me to help me as I'm disabled and do tend to need a bit of help whilst out.

No, I haven't ever seen another one other than this one in Colchester. And, really, Colchester is the perfect place for a 'Ye Olde' candy shop, so I'm going to pretend that it's the one-and-only. Situated on a very quaint and medieval-looking lane, Mr Simms jumps out at kids and adults alike, with its dark brown wooden façade and recreated 'olde worlde' windows that allow passers-by to peer in and gawk at the floor-to-ceiling rows upon rows of delicious, sugary delights, with classic and newfangled sweets equally represented. Whether you pick out individually packaged fudge from the self-service shelves or ask for a staff member to measure you out half a kilo of gummy bears and three snakes from the candy hoard behind the counter, you'll leave this place with enough child-like, sugar-induced euphoria to get you through to next week. It is a relatively small supermarket with very narrow aisles which can get quite congested during the holiday season. It has long opening hours but always seems busy even in the evening. Often all 3 tills are in use. I would say however that the range of food is very good. Fair trade products being a strength of the Co-op chain. I think you can buy most of what you need if you are self-catering in the area and the nearest large supermarket is quite a way away. It is more expensive than a low cost supermarket but not particularly so. I would recommend this shop if self catering in the area. Its a cheaper option than eating out.

Tesco based near the waterfront in Ipswich…read more Small sized shop but stocks a reasonable amount of items including meat, groceries, fresh fruit and veg, papers, magazines, wines, beers, spirits etc. Reasonable prices. Good service. They also have two tills where you can scan and pack yourself. Parking is available outside in the layby - do not park down the side roads as you run the risk of receiving a ticket or being clamped but to be fair there are plenty of signs up warning of this.
