So Aldi employs one of those parking companies to monitor their store parking. They allow only 90 minutes where other supermarkets give three hours. Even if they don't get a kickback from the fines I bet they charge a licence fee to the parking company who of course have to make their money back one way or another. I was thinking of using Aldi this Christmas as a change but I won't now as I like others take a very jaundiced view of what has come to be viewed as rapacious fining of shoppers

They sell the basics (milk, bread etc), together with a good range of baked goods, from quiches and sausage rolls to cakes (some available to buy by the slice), a classy selection of jams, biscuits, chutneys - and a decent array of wines! They also have a cafe attached, which serves daily brunches and, once a week, there's a Friday night supper with a single main course (apella on our visit) though a veggie option is available if notified in advance. This is held in the patio eating area at the side of the deli. When we visited, it was packed with locals and very friendly. Mark and his team made us very welcome.
