As well as marriage counseling I saw her for personal sessions too. She helped me through a lot of difficult things experienced throughout my life and make sense of them now in my adult years. In the two years that we saw her we had a lot of individual growth and growth within our relationship. We learned skills not only for communication with one another but healthy boundaries. Before counseling with her I was in a depressed state, and taking out my anger on my husband and it was deeply affecting our marriage. Since learning the communication skills with each other we are a lot closer and happier! She was fun and silly and made each session worth the time and money spent. I didn't realize that it was me who really needed to change and by changing so did my husband. I didn't know what healthy boundaries were or even how to enforce them. I was mean, volatile and very unpredictable to be around. I was physically sick and it was all due to the stress I was holding onto and not knowing how to cope with it. I didn't want a therapist who was going to tell me what I wanted to hear. I wanted a therapist who would teach me how to become a functioning healthy adult. I feel that Kerreen has walked me through that growth period. It didn't happen over night and it took a lot of work on my part and a lot of patience on my spouses part.
