Jonah's On The Beach - all day breakfast option

Jonah's On The Beach

We wanted fish for lunch on our drive from Sydney to Brisbane and decided on Jonah's on the beach,…read morewhich is part of and/or sits in the same building as Noah's on the Beach hotel. (Judging from the biblical names they are related.) The restaurant interior is a bit dated, but the view is amazing. We enjoyed seeing quite a few para gliders soaring (and pulling acrobatic tricks) at reasonably close distance above the cliff, which was fun. We started with the "Seared Lamb Fillets with Peach and Mint Salad , Couscous and Labna $24", which was excellent. Very creative and tasty. For our meals we had: "Saltwater Barramundi with Caper, Tomato, Olive, Chilli Salsa and Chickpeas $37" and "King Prawns with a Mild Chilli Fettuccini Sautéed with Spanish Onion, Snow Peas, Brandy and Double Cream with Salmon Roe $42" Truth be told, we weren't blown away. The fettuccini in particular was not as it should be. For $42 you simply shouldn't have glued-together pasta strands; the sauce also wasn't anything special. The barramundi was nice and creatively paired with chili salsa and chickpeas. So, a bit of a mixed bag. Positive: Great view, great starter and barramundi Negative: Dated look, pasta faux-pas, pricey If we are again in this area one day, we would likely go check out a different place. Conclusion: 3 stars.

All your staple BBQ favourites delivered in a more contemporary, fine dining way…read more I spent $160 for my partners birthday which sounds expensive but that covered 2 beers, a wine, 2 entrees, 2 mains AND 2 desserts, PHEW! Both entrees were a great serving. My entree of pork buns could almost be a light lunch. Very tasty and colourful. No skimping on the garlic prawn entree either. For main the rattle steak is an interesting option served with beans, thick cut chips and chipotle hollandaise sauce. The fried coating is thin enough that it's not oily and has a nice hint of chilli. Sadly my steak was over cooked but it didn't ruin the dish. The fudge brownie and smores desserts were to die for. The brownie top was hard to cut through but it was ENORMOUS! Meals at other tables looked delightful too. Definitely worth a try and has a lovely view with huge glass windows.

Having visited this place previously my partner and I decided to return…read more This place is quite classy for a steak house but very comfortably and being near the glass window makes it great to look out. We decided to have the garlic bread for main and received 4 slices of sour dough with a small cup of garlic butter to spread ourselves. It was an interesting way to serve and there was more than enough butter which was quite nice. For main I went for the steak and BBQ ribs combo plate with Jack Daniels jus sauce. The waiter said the chef normally prepares medium steak but I could have it my way, I said that I like medium well but was happy to try medium if that's what is recommended. When the steak came out it was quite nice but had definitely been cooked to medium well (no complaints). The jus was amazing and the Jack Daniels wasn't as overpowering as I remember from the previous visit. The ribs serving was also quite big. I didn't mind the ribs but did find the BBQ sauce they were covered in quite sweet and it made me feel a little sick, so I ended up scrapping some of it away. I still finished them in the end. We decided not to have desert as the menu lacked a chocolate option... I know right! Most of it was cooked fruit... Something I despise. My previous visit I remember desert being amazing. Definitely worth a visit.
