Beer cave Fried chicken counter Good asst of snacks and drinks Nice people for cashiers Pumps were fast, actually got a receipt from the pump... always good! Bathrooms were clean... that is a must! Not a bad stop...

It was the last Sunday in April and we were heading back home from a COVID19 modified memorial…read moreservice when we needed to use the restroom. At the time we couldn't just stop at any fast food place since lobbies were closed to the public, same with many businesses. But you can always count on a gas station, right? Nope, totally wrong apparently. We pulled into the empty lot and pumped gas. Then my husband went in to use the restroom while I watched the dogs in the car. He was met with two people inside who ignored him, one may have been another customer, it was not clear. He made his way towards the restrooms to be met with a stack of boxes blocking entry and a home made sign saying 'no public restrooms'... at an Exxon!?!?!?! My husband repeated the sign as a question- no public restroom? The response was an unapologetic 'yep' and no suggestion on where to go instead. Great impression of Tatum. Reasonable expectations of a gas station when travelling (gas, restroom, at least a limited supply of caffeine and snacks) were not met. I am giving the second star because at least we were able to pump gas and get a receipt successfully (that's not always the case when travelling). I unfortunately was put in a position in the last couple of months to travel for family emergencies more often than not and this was the only gas station with an unavailable restroom, though the lack of explanation bothers me the most. My advice is to continue down a couple blocks to another station on the opposite side of the road or there is a larger travel center on the same side of the road, maybe 5 minutes outside of town.

What a breath of fresh air! A chance to write a raving review. I can't say enough good things about…read moremy recent experience at Schlotzsky's in Longview, TX. In today's world, the bar has been lowered so far that the expectation is to receive poor service from employees who couldn't care less about you, food that is subpar to say the least, and a restaurant that is filthy at best. Imagine my shock when my wife and I walked into this Schlotzsky's and the place was clean and bright. It was clearly something else before they took it over, but there was obvious pride in the cleanliness. The gentleman who greeted us looked us in the eye, had a genuine smile, and was incredibly polite. He asked to take our order and if we were having a good day. He was actually... well... NICE! It was a very pleasurable experience. We ordered, grabbed our drinks, and didn't have to wait long before he brought the food to our table. Again, he was smiling--like he actually enjoyed his job. He made sure we had everything we needed before leaving us to eat. Mind you, we lost our "local" Schlotzsky's and had to drive about an hour to get to this one. We usually eat there once or twice a month, so I know what to expect. This sandwich was a step above. Maybe it was the euphoric high from experiencing good customer service outside of my normal haunts, or maybe it was just the fresh ingredients and the fact it was warm from the oven. Either way, it was good. If you like Schlotzsky's--or if you're like me and try to only frequent places that provide exceptional service to the people who give them a reason to have a job--you need to try this place.

The young man who took our order was truly exceptional--friendly, polite, and genuinely welcoming, with a smile that made the whole experience even better. Honestly, he's the kind of employee every place hopes to have. We'll absolutely be back. Even though we're about an hour away now (since our local Schlotzky's closed due to declining service and food quality), this location is more than worth the drive.
