I really don't like writing bad reviews unless absolutely necessary. I really try to give the benefit of doubt especially when it comes to restaurants with this pandemic and being a former waiter as well but I feel this is warranted. I ordered the "legend margarita" (our server recommended) which comes with premium liquor and served with black lava salt. Our server brought the drink to the table and you would think I had ordered extra ice because the ice was filled to the top with the drink below it. I also noticed it didn't have the black lava salt on the rim as advertised and our server even acknowledged the missing salt as well. That should have been his queue to take it back and have it replaced. I didn't complain for fear they would bring me back a weaker version of the drink. Also I ordered the country fried sirloin with white gravy. It didn't taste right and asked my husband to taste it. He confirmed they put too much flour in the gravy. Once again, I should have complained but I didn't. As I said, being a former server myself, I can't help but have a higher forgiveness because no server ever wants things to go wrong. Other than that, my husbands steak was good and my toddler enjoyed her steak bites and the environment. Just dissatisfied with my drink and food. Stay away from the white gravy and refuse to accept a drink you would only take at a casino where it is free. read more

Tasty Service... started off hell of rocky, changed servers and he saved the day The customer service from the moment we walked in was -5.  With about 3-5 staff members standing in the entryway, we had to announce to them that we would like to be seated.   We were a party of 8 and they seemed to have a bit of issues seating us, understandable I guess due to our large group, but that was not the problem.  When we were sat, they selected a booth in the bar and added a stool, still not bad.  I checked in on YELP and 25 min later we still had not been able to place our order.  When I let our waitress know we were missing drinks and were ready to order her rude response was, "you have to wait."  Ok... I understand being busy, however there are a million ways to let us know it would be a moment.  Especially when I see her walk off and tend to another table, take her drink, and place her order right after she told us we had to wait.  I asked for a manager and requested another server as she seemed overwhelmed.  After about 5 min's of deliberation amongst the manager and staff we got Travis.  Travis was great!  Our food was good with the exception of the Medium rare steak being Medium well, but I mean we had been there well into an hour we just wanted to be done and not come back here again.  Thanks, but won't be coming back. read more

Managing Partner Jay Holton tried to assault my girlfriend, so I won't be going back. Given the way it played out, I wouldn't recommend anyone, especially women, go there ever. The rest of the waitstaff and employees were lovely, helpful and pleasant, but Holton (with dilated pupils, overly-loud voice, sweating... lots of red flags) accosted me in the foyer and told me I had to leave 'his restaurant' (he's a managing partner, but amusingly insisted he was a sole owner/proprietor). My girlfriend was with me, and was saying goodbyes to her family as we prepared to leave, and Holton hovered around us, trying to intimidate us (I guess?) and shouting. My girlfriend, who was nearly in tears at that point, said, 'thanks for the great service, man,' as she brushed past me and walked out the second set of double doors, into the outdoors. Holton lost it. I was standing in the doorframe, looking back (and monitoring - I got the sense early that I should put myself in between him and Rebekah as much as possible, and I was right), and when she said that, tossed back over her shoulder, he snapped. He lunged, trying to get past me and I guess grab her... to what purpose, I know not. We didn't find out, because I stepped in front of him and vectored all of his momentum (he was lunging hard) into the metal doorframe. We were both pinned, inches away, for a second, and I asked him if he really intended to hit my girlfriend, and he seemed to snap back to reality for a moment, saying 'you guys need to leave now.' And then, when it was clear he wasn't trying to get past me to hit my girlfriend anymore, I let him loose from the doorframe, and we left immediately. From the way it played out, it seemed obvious to me that Jay Holton was using cocaine or methamphetamine or something that overstimulated him and made him aggressive and hostile. He made NO physical moves towards me (roughly his size), but when Bekah said what she said, he went dark behind the eyes and just lost control. I would imagine he has a history of doing this with women, but that's speculating. I would just recommend everyone steer clear, and not put themselves in his path. Otherwise, a place filled with lovely people, but the one incident with Jay Holton (a managing partner, I reiterate) was more than enough for me to never, ever go back there. read more

We went here to have dinner tonight December 20, 2020 and ended up leaving without getting our food due to safety concerns. The kitchen staff was wearing the masks around their necks. This is the second time I've seen this here at this location. One server delivered food with his mask around his neck - no facial coverage at all, same as the kitchen staff. I love Roadhouse and have eaten at this location many times but sadly will be staying away for a while until they can get onboard with state mandates. read more

Now I know why it's been years since we've been to this place, This evening as a change of pace, we decided to visit Texas Roadhouse. It had been quite awhile since we've been here and now I know why. I should have checked the YELP reviews before we left the house but for some odd reason I was in the mood for Catfish and the family seemed agreeable so off we went. Being in a pretty good mood we walked into the place and was promptly greeted by a hostess who seemed a bit flat. Not literally but flat in the sense of a blase attitude. You know someone who walked us to the armpit of the restaurant without a smile or a pleasant greeting. After we got seated I noticed my son make a face?!? My wife asked him what was up? And he said he just stepped into a puddle of something nasty and wet under the table. When I looked under our booth I noticed a styrofoam cup with it's contents spilled all over the floor. It was most likely the whole drink! A sticky soda no less! Anyways when Jerry our server came back, we complained about this and he promptly ran off to come back a few minutes later with a squeegee and started trying to clean this up! As I was watching him I said, do you think we could move to another table? Hoping that maybe we could move out into the better area of the restaurant. No such luck. He asked if we would mind moving to the booth to the left. A smaller booth but not wanting to be a pain we agreed. As we started getting settled I noticed my leg felt wet and then I end up placing my hand on the booth and noticed there was something wet all along the seat which I got all over my hand! Come on man, I thought...what the hell? Don't they clean or bus their tables before they seat their guests? Anyways annoyed at this point, I pointed to a larger booth that was nearby and asked if we could sit there. While Jerry kept cleaning he said sure and we proceeded to move all our stuff over there. Fortunately this booth was dry although my wife noticed I sat on a large clump of butter. Great... Whatever...anyways we finally ordered and the food came out. You know the rolls that they typically serve you? Well the first round we got were kind of cold and hard as if they were recycled. But Jerry was observant and brought us another batch...maybe because he felt bad that my son's shoes got covered with soda and my hand and leg ended up with god knows what on it and my shorts had a wad of butter mashed into it. Get the point? BUS YOUR TABLES! Also please make sure they are clean and dry before seating your guests! The food? Well like I said the rolls tasted recycled. At least the first batch. My kids ordered the Beef Tips and I can see my son wished we had gone to MOD pizza instead. Lol! In other words, he wasn't enthused. My wife wanted somewhat healthy so we ordered a garden salad. Meh...I've tasted better. Iceberg lettuce with these thin strips of cheddar cheese which if I had known would have told them to nix it. $4 for a side salad. Not worth it...The catfish? Ok. For some reason I found it better in the past but maybe it was just the overall experience that made me feel like I wasted my money. No reflection on Jerry though. He tried his best. I think his management needs to retrain everyone to maybe smile more, and to make sure the tables are clean before seating the guests and oh yeah...turn the AC up a bit because the third table we ended up sitting at froze us to death! I thought I was going to turn into a popsicle! Maybe it was the area we were seated. The armpit of the restaurant. It was odd to me because it seemed like we were isolated for some reason. Like the back of the bus. Just my feeling... Anyways my kid doesn't normally complain about stuff like this but he was the one who suggested I give it 2 or 3 stars. I hardly ever do that. It takes a lot for me to do that. And the only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 star was probably because of Jerry. He was as personable as he could be under the circumstances. Ordered to go and sent my husband inside to pick up and even though the to go employee went over the order she still neglected to give him my ranch dressing AND no bread! The whole reason we go there! Not for the average bbq but the bread! Then my husband calls and heather the "manager" tells him that "so all you're missing is ranch and bread." Are you kidding me!?! Never mind that one meal is $24 and we spent over $50 for us to eat. Then when I called her out she apologized. Never once did she offer to give us bread, ask us to come back, or in any way offer to rectify the situation. Horrible customer service. What's worse is they gave me 8 French fries and no silverware. Service every time I am here is exceptional! My favorite server is Cameron and she is always smiling!! They have the to go service down to a T for the covid time we are in. And their to go margaritas by the half or full gallon come with flavors to add! Soo good! Call ahead and order, pay at the tent and wait for a smiling face to bring you your order! We used to love this restaurant. Unfortunately the last three times (3rd strike) we have ordered have been epic failures. First, they were short staffed & we waited over an hour past our pick up time... ok, it happens. Next, we ordered ribs and they were dry, burnt and inedible. Thought that might be a flook and tried again ... no such luck. The meat does not 'fall off the bone' if there is very little meat and it is dried to a crisp. Pulled pork sandwich also had chunks of dry meat ... even with the sauce ... assume somebody combined an old and new batch ... ? I have never been to Texas Roadhouse before, I went to dinner with my cousin and her family so it was five in the party. This was a Saturday so it was super busy, I like the peanuts on the floor and friendly atmosphere. The wait was not too long but I think that part that bothered me a little was the fact that two of us arrived about 15 min before the others and we could be not be seated until everyone was present. I know that a lot of places use this same method to seat guests and I never understood that process and I dont like it. I will tell you what I do like .. The Rolls and cinnamon butter, these rolls are AMAZING! I had no idea, they were so good I asked for rolls to go. My dinner was cooked just right, I had the 10 oz. The manager, Ms. Frazier, was very dismissive and rude. I had a company, called Favor, pick up my order because I just had surgery and was unable to drive. My order was not correct because the kitchen didn't prepare it correctly but she said it was my fault and the fault of the company. The driver offered to go back but she was already gone from my house. Any restaurant would check the order before placing it in the bag and since the receipt was correct, I was charged for the correct meal but the correct meal wasnt prepared then it is the restaurant's fault. Nevertheless, she didn't offer to refund that portion of even remake the order or give me a credit. Horrible attitude and horrible customer service. I decided to eat here for my birthday with mom and cousin on Saturday 7/20, IT WAS THE WORST DECISION EVER!! We decided to sit at the bar since there was only 3 of us and my cousin wanted a margarita. First, ALL of our food came out at the same time, usually the salad and bread will come before the entrees, not here, literally everything was brought at one time which was hard to manipulate 6 plates with such little space at the bar. On top of that we kept having to ask for refills because the bartender was not paying attention.Then, all 3 of our baked potatoes were cold, the butter and cheese wouldn't even melt and my steak was overcooked, I asked for medium rare and it was almost well done. We've made reservations for a party tonight and they give our table away to someone else then tell us they can't sit us for another hour. CARLY the manager is an absolute rude bitch. This place is a great steakhouse. The appetizers are great. The service is awesome and the steak is tender and delicious. Even the sirloin is great. Love the unlimited peanuts and bread rolls and cinnamon butter. Yum. The House salad has tomatoes diced and diced eggs with cheese. It is a great combination. The ranch is a bit too thick, would prefer it to be thinner, but is still good. My favorite is the baked potato loaded. It has a crispy outside with coarse salt. It's amazing. We've come here many times and it's a family favorite. This place also does a lot for the community and they have supported flood relief efforts over the last couple years. I just want to start off by saying the food and service by the servers was excellent. My reason for the 2 star is due to the "manager" in charge of the seating. We went there to celebrate my daughter's 17th heavenly birthday. We picked roadhouse because it was one of her favorite places to eat. The manage or whoever was just so rude at first they let us know they have a table for our party of 12. As we walked to the table there was no table for 12 just 2 separate booths and not even right across from each other. The host then calls the "manager" to the booths and we kindly asked her if we could sit on the opposite side where there was a long bench that would be better for us. She said no due to construction and that there may be nails on the floor?? So then we decided on booths that were directly across. She stated that we would have different servers which wasn't a problem. But she kept repeating it like if we hard of hearing until I spoke up and said we understood the first time. I don't know why I keep giving these guys second chances for same great food and same mediocre service. Makes me feel that the waiters are entitled to that 16 to 20% "legendary" You order a medium done steak and they give you a stiff and dry well-done. Waiters tend to disappear after they take your order and your left their snacking on peanuts and the bread that you sat down with. Don't finish your drinks too early because you won't get a refill until they come out with the food. People that bring food out usually are not your waiter and that person doesn't really know how you ordered. A mom-and-pop joint will probably give you better service as they actually work for their tip and usually are committed to giving you trademark great food. read more

Service was terrible. We could not hear/understand anything our waiter was saying. This place is loud! So you this he would know how to speak up. At one point our waiter may have forgotten about us so we had to flag another person down. The steak was overcooked and the rest of the food was super salty. On the plus side, my nephew loved their sweet bread (+1 Star) and they had unlimited shelled peanuts (+1 Star). We so not plan on coming back when visiting TX. read more

This has been the worst experience. The manager Chris was excellent but all his staff lack customer service. We were on the waiting list and then our name just disappeared. We waited for an hour for them to sit us. When we walked in they had 5 empty tables. The assistant manager lacked etiquette and customer service as the waiting staff. Another one bites the dust. We hadn't been here for a while because the sanitation was not an "A." When they got the score up to 90 we tried it again, and had two pretty good experiences. I even got a good martini. Then came last night.... Seated at a table with no bread plates (they are normally on the tables), so we couldn't start on our rolls (which are delicious) until the server came and we asked for plates. When he brought them, he started dusting mine with a cocktail napkin!!!! What's with that? If it's dirty, TAKE IT BACK! So I looked at it, and it did have a bit of food crusted on it. Sent it back. It should never have been brought out and it would seem they need to have a look at their dishwasher. Martini this time was disgusting. Did not even taste like gin - tasted like hair tonic or mouthwash. So I left it and asked for, and I quote, "whatever kind of single malt scotch they have." Received brown water, basically. *Light* brown water. When we got the ticket I noticed I was charged only $3 for it - obviously the bartender did not even know what single malt scotch is. Tater skins were meh or less. Cheese tasted fishy. This isn't the worst, though. With my steak, I ordered a baked potato *only* (I was entitled to two sides), with the request that it be super-loaded. (I'd ordered their $0.99 extra "load" before and gotten only the amount of sour cream, etc, that is usual on a baked potato - apparently if you order just the baked potato you receive it bare. Why can't they just say that a baked potato as a side is an extra charge, as most places do?) You'd think I'd get my baked potato with extra "stuff" at no extra charge, since I ordered only one side. Nope. Not only did they charge me the $0.99, they charged it *twice*. And for the second $0.99 charge they didn't bring me a second portion of everything (sour cream, butter, cheese, bacon bits, green onion) - they brought me a tiny salad dressing cup with just bacon bits and cheese. This, by the way, is when I found out that the fishy taste on the tater skins was coming from the cheese - what they brought me in that cup was almost inedible. Speaking of green onions, I didn't get them because the server asked if I wanted "onions," which caused me to picture regular ones. If he'd said "green onions," of course I would have said "yes." And, general observation, what in the heck ever happened to the proper thing, chives? Did they get too expensive? The steak tasted OK, but I'm pretty sure it had been tenderized to a fare-thee-well - not the texture I'd expect for a steak ordered medium rare. Then when the check was brought, the folder was *wet*. WET! How does that happen? How does the server not notice and dry it off? Random observation - they need to wipe their menus much more often - they were pretty sticky. It will never matter to me again, though - this place is off my list. Or at least until I get desperate again and go in the forlorn hope that they might have improved. Thinking back, I never had the problems with restaurants in San Diego that I do here. There was an occasional clunker, but all the clunkers I can recall were newly opened places that closed quickly. The ones that had been open a long time were consistently good, even the Coco's down on the corner. Unless I'm just incredibly unlucky, restaurants in the Houston area can be both horrible or inconsistent and in business for a long time. My husband and I like to come here once in awhile because we do enjoy the food. We were just there earlier and were seated right away. We were placed in a corner where we've been placed before, but hardly saw our server. Well, this time - we waited FIFTEEN minutes and nobody came to our table. No introduction. No "I will be right with you." Nothing. It was very disappointing and frustrating. We saw a couple of servers in our area, but no one bothered to check on us. Not one person. If you're going to be that busy, at least acknowledge us. We would have understood. Love going to this restaurant. Festive. Fun. Service has been hit or miss but the food is always great. The place is a bit of a mess because of the peanuts but hey..... its fun. The steaks are great. The portions are huge. The rolls are delicious! Below are some items that I've tried and have not been disappointed in: AMAZING Ribs!!! meat just falls off. Chili is award winning as well. Fried Pickles Ribeyes Porterhouse Pulled Pork You can always do it up combo style and get some ribs on the side to your main dish even the steaks.......and as a side request Chili. Came in today about 5:45 pm and there was a 20 minute wait so we sat in the waiting area. I started to feel a burning bitting sensation all over my back. My wife bushed 20-30 ants off of my shirt and skin. I looked on the window sill and ants were everywhere. I notified the MOD Mikyla/ Heather and she said they have been aware of this problem since yesterday. I asked them why did you let people sit in this area or at least put a sign up. No answer. Steak was unevenly cooked which ruined most of my experience. I had the t bone steak and it was super raw in the inside and medium to over cooked on the outside. Staff was great and I appreciate how friendly and attentive they are. The rolls that come complimentary is what keeps me coming back though. Be wary of steaks. I don't care what anyone else says, I really enjoy this place. The atmosphere is really fun. Occasionally the waiters and waitresses would do some kind of line dance. Margaritas are yummy. I always get the Jamaican cowboy. Steaks are always cooked to my liking and I love the BBQ chicken. I usually get house salads, baked potato, or mashed potato for my sides. I've tried the fries which were really good. Their seasoned rice is a bit salty though. The bread is amazing as well. Don't be embarrassed to ask to take some home! read more
