This place is great and has everything my local NYC organic markets have and then some and the prices were waaayy cheaper. They have a great gluten free grocery section, lots of frozen items, gluten free breads in the frozen section, awesome pantry selections, organic health and beauty items and all the latest supplements, vitamins and protein shakes. I also likes the fact that they have a book section of the store. The staff was very nice, informative and helpful. Coming from someone who lives in NYC and has the best stores around me, I thought this place was well stocked, priced right and great all around. If you live in the area and you are a vegetarian or just interested in general wellness and health; I would definitely come here and shop. This place has been around for 32 years! I looked up gift stores in the area and stumbled across this gem. When my girlfriend and I went there we were amazed by the amount of things in there. So much stuff to look at. There was everything in there like local crafts, dolls, Jim Shore figures, candles, and seasonal country gifts. This year I was back in Bridgeport and I had to make it a point to go back to Country Peddler. Everything was exactly how I remembered it. Awesome gifts, a great selection, and definately some of the friendliest people I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to. I had a blast walking around buying all sorts of things. I got candles, a lamp, a watering can that looks like a ladybug, and a Jim Shore plant stake with a cardinal on it. Next year I will be back in the Bridgeport area and I without a doubt will be making it a point to go back. I can't say enough good things about this place. You need to see it for yourself.

And, yes, some things are more expensive than at Shop N Save... it's a locally-owned grocer with a niche market, after all... SO that said, this place it pretty awesome. They've got all the good stuff: produce, recycled paper products, soy meat, tofu, gluten free chips, organic food, and they even have a small bulk section. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the store is always clean and bright. All of this--and they're located right off the 5-Star trail. I can totally ride my bike to get groceries.
