When we got near we realised it was cake, this makes me happy. We bought a selection of 'merveilleux' which are like little meringues delicately filled. The service was exceptional with the staff working efficiently and in such a friendly manner to serve people quickly. The merveilleux weren't overly sweet which is amazing considering they were like mini meringues! They were beautiful with amazing flavour and I wish I had bought more to bring home, no matter how bashed they would have ended up. Exquisitive and a must visit if you are in the area of the Wazemmes Market.

Nice little pastry/bakery shop located a bit away from the tourists. This is a bakery shop for the…read morelocals. In fact, one of the local fine restaurants gets their bread from here and that's how we found out about it. It's about a 10 minute walk from the main square. Well worth a visit. There is a broad selection of pastries for breakfast, pastries for "4pm koffie" and many different fresh breads and other sweets all of superior quality.

I have now twice bought a variety of breakfast baked goods and everything has been excellent. Some with cheese of almond paste, and incredibly good croissants. Prices are a bit on the high side and this particular location gets lots of tourists. The shop is small so it can get crowded.
