Popped in on the way back from a cold day out at Alton Towers…read more We got a lovely warm welcome, were quickly seated near a roaring fireplace and settled in for a great meal accompanied by some very well kept Hartington IPA. The pub is cosy and friendly, and in a great location for walkers and cyclists on the Tissington trail. We'll definately be heading back soon (to the Royal Oak not Alton Towers, which is another story)!

Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.

The stamford Inn has a large carpark outside and is just situated of the A56 from chester near to helsby/tarvin. The staff were friendly and polite. Quick service. I cant fault it one bit all meals arrived quickly & all together considering we as individual couples all ordered separately. There is a large pub garden out the back and drinks aren;t pricey either. What a cracking find. The place had real character and even for a Monday lunchtime was very well patronised. No wonder. The service was excellent; the young chap behind the bar was extremely welcoming and was great with our 2 year-old granddaughter (note: child friendly, although a few high chairs would have been a bonus). The food was well prepared and far more than we could eat. The menus were extensive and provided good value for money. A nice little touch was having the menus pasted into the insides of different books, guides, reference books and even story books for the kids. Overall, a pleasant experience. If we are in the Chester area in the future, we will certainly be back, and I suggest if you, the reader of this review are near there, you give it a try, too; you won't regret it.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is well presented, good portion sizes and always tastes great. Families are most welcome and once you have your table it is yours for the night. The beer is well kept and the pub itself is decorated well and always clean and tidy but has a real local pub feel especially with the roaring real fire and pleasant garden.

Both times that we came, the food was bursting with delicious, fresh flavors. The halloumi fries had the squeaky bite they're known for. It's got to be said that the view here is phenomenal! The Corn Mill hangs above the River Dee, which gives spectacular views. The food is immense, very original menu with locally sourced food and a twist on some pub classics. I would recommend the samosa starter and chicken pate.
