Okay we went back because we really like the Thai food. The curry puffs, pad see ew, and the yellow curry are just a few of the really good food. It has been a while and I figure they would have gotten all new staff since last time we were here. There was 2 people serving and taking orders much better. In past they only had 1 person doing everything bad management style. One person can not do it all. I hope this has been fixed permanently . I will increase my rating and will go back again. I'm so happy that I was able to find such an awesome Thai place in town here in Arlington. I went with a group of co-workers and was able to try several different dishes they serve.. Massaman curry, pad kee mao, yellow curry fried rice, and pad thai. All were superb. They have a really affordable lunch menu with about 8 different options. The inside is nothing special, they don't seem to focus on the décor, but they definitely have the food down. I will definitely be returning and probably a lot! read more

Honestly, this place is not the best, but it is most convenient as a student. Still, I usually stray from this establishment unless I really need some thai tea. But then again, the boss lady puts way too much ice in my little styrofoam cup and not enough tea! Hmph. I've tried many many dishes here, and I have to say that they are just okay. I would much rather go to Thai House 3 mi out and eat there for the same hefty prices they offer here. PLEASE don't order takeout here or else quality will be deeply suppressed. They do have lunch specials though, which is a little cheaper, but try eating in during those, or else the quality won't be justified, I feel. I love Coconut Chicken Soup!! It's my favorite especially on a day like today when I'm sick and it's raining! I started off with the shrimp salad rolls with peanut sauce and then the coconut soup. The owner was over the top super nice. The only watch out is the white draperies on the table. I am a messy eater and got soup all over the place! What a wonderful place! We celebrated my daughter's birthday here on Saturday 10/22/22. The decor is classic w a bit if elegance. Ms Ying took our orders, gave advice, was helpful and has such a fun sense of humor. Her personality really made our experience just right. The food was fantastic. Two of our folks added shrimp to their fried rice dishes. The shrimp were huge, high quality and cleaned. Ms Ying brought out a plate of sliced mango and sticky rice as a birthday dessert on the housefor my daughter. Oh was it delicious. So sweet! Then we wanted to take some family photos so when we all wanted to be in one of the photos, we asked Angel the kitchen manager . I think he was on break, but came over and took a great photo of us. If he cooked the meals too, then he is so multi talented. Also, I had some questions about the names of restaurant staff members. Their website offers a text-like way to communicate and they were so responsive. Angel was the person who was communicating w me. Great place. Go. You will love it. It difficult to find a good Thai place around here, so my family and I decided to visit Thai Basil last night. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Monday night, but service was fairly quick so that was a plus. The curries that we got were very flavorful and rich. Although, I must say the Pad See Ew was a bit on the salty side. Had they gone a bit easier on the salt it would have been perfect. The desserts were amazing as well. Definitely save room for it! Both were on the Friday special where you get them for $8 if I remember correctly. Service was excellent. This cute little place is right across the street from Arlington HS and is priced accordingly. Fun waitstaff and good music! Led off with Jimi, heard White Stripes, Dorothy, the Doors. The music set a very fun vibe and the food came out very quickly. I like coming here because the portion sizes are huge. Lots and lots of veggies. I've never eaten over half a lunch portion so now I have dinner, too. Win win. I'm pretty sure for value on Thai food in the area this can't be beat. Very popular with takeout too and at least one to go order was from a delivery service. The service is good, too. Everyone checks on every table. A different server ran our food out and a third did a quality check. Don't be insulted if they drop the check very early. Several other diners ordered when they sat down and were gone in 20-25 minutes. Wow ! What a day ! My girlfriend and I have been here several times in the past . It has always been a nice dependable place for Thai . Today we walked in and grabbed one of the last tables available. The staff was running around hectic and needed some help. We sat down to order , we did not get any water or napkins. We had Thai tea but when I ran out nobody came over to fill it up or get me a refill or offer water . Later we had to ask for water and a refill and napkins. We ordered and my girlfriends food came out first so I expected mine next but another couple that ordered after us both received their meals followed by a single diner and a to go customer. I thought surely mine was next and they have it under control but a few more minutes went by and no meal . She could be done with hers if she didn't wait for me. They saw I never got my meal and didn't have thought about it . We had to tell them they forgot about me . Finally we just said make it to go because my girlfriends food was cold and I got full on water and Thai Tea . What a joke! Thai Basil might just be my new go-to to satisfy my Thai cravings, esp. because it's right next to campus! Their Pad Ke Mao aka Drunken Noodles is a reaaaal tough competitor with Thai House's. Lots of chili, peppers, garlic, and basil, and the beef was moist and tender. On a scale of 1-5, you can choose how spicy you want your plate to be. I know at other Thai places, it's deadly for your tastebuds to venture past a 3, but this place does not have a scale that runs on Thai spicy- at least not today it didn't. I ordered a level 4, but I really could've went with a 5 and been fine. Minus one star for their portion size. I've never been able to finish my Drunken Noodles at Thai House in one sitting, but here I was able to finish my plate and my tummy was STILL hungry for more! This place is easily my favorite Thai restaurant in Arlington. Thai Basil Leaf has the trifecta for awesomeness : Good food, speedy service, and great atmosphere. I love their green curry - level 4 is hot enough to get you misty eyed but if you're a gentle creature, try level 1 first - my hubby thought it was pretty spicy. A lot of Thai restaurants tend to make their dishes on the sweet side - something that I'm not a fan of. Thai Basil Leaf isn't heavy handed with sugar which is a huge plus. Honestly all of the entrees here are on point - the only item that is lacking is the mango sticky rice. The portion is quite tiny. This restaurant is truly a gem in the heart of Arlington. If you're a poor UTA student (we've all been there) check out their lunch specials- it's pretty affordable and a nice break from Chipotle. read more

To clarify, I have no issue with the attitude of the workers, but I have a huge problem with their lack of organization. We went in, already hungry, for a late lunch and it took longer than normal for them to take our order. The were only a few people in there and two people taking orders. We waited patiently, with a hungry 3 year old, and watched as food was brought to the table who arrived before us and then the table who came in after us. Then finally, after waiting over 45 mins, my husband went to see what was taking so long. The waiter said he would check and came back. He asked to take our order again, because somehow he misplaced our order and never put it in in the first place!! I understand that people make mistakes, but not putting the order in at all and not realizing it until we asked is not ok. We were extremely hungry and had waited patiently without complaint. If he apologized and offered us anything, free spring rolls or something because of their mistake, we might have waited, but nothing was offered other than an offer to take our order again. Now I do not claim to be a Thai expert and don't ask me if it an authentic place because I have no idea. I'm from Texas not Thailand. All I know is this place has some wonderful food. I love the Curry Puffs for an appetizer and usually get the Yellow Curry. I always get it #1 level spicy. Folks look at me like a heat wimp but the curry alone is pretty spicy and I really do not need a few peppers added to just make my mouth burn. The hubs normally gets one of the noodle dishes which are always good. The staff are always friendly and prompt. In this place, you will see college kids all the way to the mayor of Arlington dining so it's a good diverse crowd. They are across the street from Arlington High so I'll bet during the school lunchtime they probably get a good crowd. 5 stars for the food and 5 stars for the service. Luckily it wasn't too busy at all and the food came out fairly quickly. I got the chicken satay and the crispy spring rolls. Both were delicious and I would get either one again. Wow, this restaurant serves some incredible food. I was sketched when I first went because of the dingy location and the seemingly sub-par state of cleanliness. The tablecloths looked cheap and worn, there was a fly buzzing around, and an odd, dollar-store-level centerpiece reminiscent of a petri dish adorned our tabled. The menu sounded pretty swell, even though it was also lacking in the sanitary department. All of this went out the window when my plate his the table. The dishes were beautiful... A mesmerizing white plate and an oblong bowl that held within one of the best curries I've ever had in my life. I really like curry and the first taste literally blew my mind. How I love Thai Basil Leaf. I recall many lonely days when I first arrived at UTA in 2014. No friends, no job, little money... What money I did have was spent sitting at the smallest table close to the door, Shrimp Pad Thai in front of me. Speaking of Shrimp Pad Thai, they have nunerous signs and accolades around the restaurant for their Pad Thai. For good reason, too. The perfect ratio of sauce to noodle, large shrimp, plenty of peanuts and a lime wedge. For those of you that may be used to a more sauced noodle it may seem dry initially, but the flavor and manageablilty of the meal (meaning you won't splatter sauce on your $100 Calvin Klein french cuff dress shirt) will help one to realize the ratio is just right. The Veggie Spring Rolls (which come standard with the Shrimp Pad Thai) are on the deliciously crispy side. If you get your meal to fo and have a 16 minute drive (as I did on Monday), pull that roll out and eat it on the commute! It will get soggy from the warm, delicious goodness that is your meal on the drive. Many years from now, far removed from my college experience, I will remember Thai Basil Leaf so fondly. I joined my husband on a business trip to TX last year. While he was in meetings, I was determined to find really good, Authentic Asian food, and this place could not be any more AUTHENIC! I've been back 5 times since and finally remembered to take a couple pictures before devouring the food! This is, by no means, fancy. It's in a strip mall and very well hidden. They are Thai, so don't expect fancy American-ized Thai food. This is the real deal! I'm obsessed with their Thai Tea! Love their Chicken Satay, Papaya Salad, Tom Kha Gai, Panang, Pad Thai, and Pineapple Curry. Can't go wrong with any of the desserts!! On my last trip, they had a few things off the menu which I had to order! It was a little messy but I got the Curry Crab. Again, they just happened to have it in the kitchen that day and I got very lucky! It wasn't on the menu. As a Lao/Thai person, I can say that this is the most authentic Thai food I have ever had-- next to my mom's kitchen. I plan a trip there anytime we're in the Dallas area. The husband and I were driving around Arlington looking for something to eat. We accidentally turned on Park Row and found Thai Basil Leaf. Right next to it is a Sushi restaurant. We are sitting in the parking lot like we are on a stake out. So, "Sushi or Thai?" "Sushi or Thai?" he says. Me: "Alright, eenie meenie miney moe" Him: I'm hungry dammit". After 9 years of marriage, we pick on each other a lot. Okay, Okay.. THAI! Thai reminds me of my Mama (she passed away in 2000) and her favorite food was Thai. I seen the Cashew Chicken. Again, it reminds me of my mom. As a little girl, we would go out for Thai and would always get the Cashew Chicken. At a Thai restaurant, I always have to order Cashew Chicken before I try anything else, just like at a mexican restaurant I have to get the Chile Relleno first. I think mostly it makes me think about her and memories with her that Cashew Chicken brings. I was very surprised at the Cashew Chicken. Most Thai restaurants skimp on the cashews. Thai Basil Leaf gave me plenty of cashews, chicken, and vegetables. It was a hefty portion indeed and I enjoyed every bite of it. My husband got the Cho Chee fish? Some name like that. It was fried tilapia in a yellow curry sauce. It was soooo good. The fish went well with the yellow curry sauce. Oh, and we started off with dumplings. I've had my fair share of Thai places and I've got to say that Thai Basil beats every single one. It's a clean, small restaurant and has almost a home-y appeal. Each dish was about $8-10. Our waitress was very friendly and sweet! But let's get to the best part: DA FOODS! I ordered the beef pad see ew and my friend ordered chicken pad Thai. Generic, I know, but both were just so delicious. You can tell its fresh, home style cooking! The presentation was great and right next to Bethany's too! I've been a long time Yelp reader but never once posted a review of my own. I really like this place that I have enough urges to sign up and write one. I guess that must mean something. To tell you the truth, I haven't tried most of the dish on the menu yet since I usually order the special order which are known among the Thais. Something about me: I rarely order the dishes well known at Thai Restaurants since I can cook most of them much better than most places ( I think) I'm Thai and I'm a pretty good cook for my own taste bud (and to those who are lucky enough to get to try Ha!) Many dishes at most Thai restaurants in DFW is too fusion to my taste or too sweet. (Which I don't understand but I kinda understand??) I loves flavorful Thai dishes. I eat really spicy, real Thai chili pepper spicy. Spicy Korean food is my level two at most. Just in case you think this matters :D About this place. The new owner took over this restaurant sometimes in Feb or March. I have never visited this place before that but I have heard that some of the dishes are ok some are really good some are meh :( Well, enough about the prior owner. The new owners are these really nice couples well known among Thai community in DFW. They serve up delicious food at Thai Temple in Dallas every Sunday along with others great thai cooks! (Yes, go and Try every single Sunday from Early morning to around 2 or 3 pm at most) I have always been a fan and used to go almost every other week for like a whole year! and I live in Arlington! When I know that she's running this place now I am stoked!! I would suggest go with Thai people if you know one let them help you order some secret menus :) Or I can help suggest you some: Ask for Five spice noodle soup (Guay Jaab, G pronounce like in Game) Don't say like the K as in review below it will come out soo soo wrong and dirty meaning :D This dish comes with Inners and Blood cake which you can opt out like I do, trust me it is still delish and it's not at all gross) Ask for Minced pork (or chicken) basil stir fried and ask for Thai style. Try some spicy to it. Over rice with fried eggs. This is like Thai comfort food. Everyone and I mean e-ver-ry- one in Thailand eats this quite often when they don't know what to eat. Thai style doesn't come with whole lots of various veggies like the fusion one though. You might not like it if you love veggies so much. Ask for Chinese Broccoli with roasted pork Aweeeesomeeee Homecook, street food taste just like in Thailand and as good (or better?) as I make it and I don't need to do the dishes! Hooray! Those roasted pork is my favorite, not guarantee that everyone will love it like I do but please give it a try. Tom Yum Thai style (with crushed peanut) noodle soup is light and tasty (ask for spicy if needed) Pad Thai Sauce is pretty good, with that tamarind based unlike what many restaurants use (Peanut sauce? Lots or sugar?) I still like my own pad thai the best though, oh no Wondee in NYC is the best, sorry. I am really picky with Pad Thai no one really got them right or authentic here in the US that I tried so far (right, not even wondee in NYC but that was good enough for me) so even I like the sauce I would still only give 3 stars to this dish. (I go ballistic when the dish at non thai restaurant (or at thai restaurant even) try to goes by as Pad thai and it's just wrong, nothing pad thai about it and I want to cry) I'm waiting for The owner to start serving up oyster omelet dish that hard to find anywhere. Will update if I succeed in convincing them soon. Service is quick. The business can be slow sometimes but don't let that scares you to try. Store from the outside is not very appealing but again don't let that scares you. I really want to make sure this place stay up and run so I can stop cooking. Please help me support them. PS. The lady owner make the best chicken curry puff in the whole word. (well at least in my opinion and most Thais I know agree so) So sad she's so busy supplying other big name restaurants in Dallas. Authentic Thai food in Arlington! I went with my mom and sister on Saturday for lunch and we got the curry puffs to start. SOOOO GOOOOOOD! Best curry puffs I've ever had. We also ordered larb chicken, pad see eew with pork, lad na with pork and crab fried rice. The crab fried rice smelled and tasted like the ones I've had in Thailand. The pad see ew, larb and lad na were good too, but the two stand out dishes were the crab fried rice and curry puffs. The place wasn't very busy when we went. They had only one other table besides us. The restaurant is located across the street from Arlington high school where Bethanys is. Service was great.
