I didn't do all the ordering, I just did the eating, so I'm not quite sure of all the dishes ordered, however, they included pad thai noodles, pineapple fried rice, tom yum, drunken noodles and more. All of the dishes were nicely presented on black plateware. The drunken noodles came on a shovel shaped plate and another dish came in a bowl shaped like a cowboy hat! The pineapple fried rice was flavorful and delish and the drunken noodles were perfectly cooked and tasty. The siam ring aka calamari rings were crispy and yum-worthy with the chili sauce. The square shaped appetizer were gui chai tod which are pan-fried chive cakes. They were crispy and soft on the inside and they got my appetite simulated for the mains. I wasn't able to sample all the dishes but the ones I had were all nom-worthy and flavorful. Couldn't complain at all about the customer service. Our dishes came out pretty quickly and they were able to allow my niblings who don't have extensive palates indulge on their McD's. They took they burger and fries and plated it so they were no McD's logos exposed lol. When it came to payment, my mom and I discreetly paid the bill ahead of time. At first I opted for card payment but the person at the register who seemed like the owner notified me if I pay in cash we would get a discount. So, yeah we pay cash to save some $$$. The interior of the restaurant is nice and spacious with Thai art and decor displayed throughout the main room. There were plenty of seating in the main area and to my surprise when I walked to the restroom, the back area is where customers can dine on the floor. Shoes off and on the side and they sit on a cushion on the floor. Anyways, the restroom is pretty small and cramped, but nothing special. Overall, great thai food and okay priced. Well, originally I looked but couldn't find it... but alas, the day has come that I can tell the world about this FREAKING AMAZING RESTAURANT!!! The last time I ate this food I cried, because I was so sad I was leaving it and the incredible staff that have always been so patient with our big groups, and small groups. John is an awesome guy, he has waited on us several times and has always been so patient. I say patient because... this restaurant is BYOB and we'd (meaning my friends, usually about 8-10 of us) bring massive amounts of boxed wine and get shlammered while we enjoyed the most amazing Thai food ever. I believe I actually fell asleep here once. But John never cared, he was always SO FRIENDLY and he even offered to hold our to-go boxes and wine for us to pick up the next day because we'd walk straight to the club after dinner. *sweet little memory side note* I even remember I was going home in three days and I went to Coconut Thai to pick up a to-go order. When I arrived John said it would be on him, because my friends and I always had such an awesome time here. And yes, I cried in the restaurant because it was so sweet. And then I came back the next day and the next, because it was so good. OK I'LL STOP! The food is damn good. I've had a lot of things here. The lard na noodles are fantastic, the green curry, panang curry, pineapple fried rice, and laksa are all amazing. But be warned, when there is one little red pepper (out of 3) next to a menu item, the dish is very very spicy. I couldn't even eat it because I was too much of a baby. The desserts are also quite good too. And I've tried Basil Thai before and it's cheaper but I don't think it's anything compared to Coconut Thai (and it's bathroom is far away). This place gives you a LOT of food at a very reasonable price. I miss it SO MUCH so all you Wollongong-ers better get your butts over there, and say hi to John for me.
