Everything at this spot is fabulous! Very flavorful, huge portions, and great service. An awesome spot to stop in for a quick bite!

Whether you're a fan of mellow flavors or crave that extra kick that isn't for the faint of heart, you can choose your own adventure when it comes to Thai Esan. They specialize in Esan cuisine that has its roots in Northeastern Thailand and is known for its bold and spicy dishes, Thai sticky rice, vibrantly flavored salads, and heavy use of fresh vegetables. You'll find different flavors and dishes here compared to other food trucks with your typical curries and a little spicer and richer in herbs and sauces. What caught my eye here was the Esan sausage. The sausage is made with ground pork and pork fat, mixed with garlic and rice, then fermented for several days. The flavor is quite unique with a bit of sourness from the fermentation. It comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce and oh my, I am completely obsessed with it! Highly recommend this dish! I get it with a side of white rice to make the meal complete. I've also tried the Pad See Ew which was good as well. The best part is the staff here are incredibly friendly and so nice! They seem like really great people and the customer service is on point. Also, if you work in the area, they offer a small discount. They were previously located in Lahaina and reopened in Wailuku earlier this year at the Wailuku Food Trucks lot. There's parking available in the back and a handful of picnic tables to enjoy your meal as well.

Really great experience! This food truck is located in a center with four others. It is easily accessible and has an adjacent parking lot. There is a shaded sitting area, but no bathrooms. The lady working was very nice and took our order efficiently. She was patient and our food came out quickly. Originally, my family and I thought the place was quite pricy for being a truck. But the portions were very large. Two people could easily share and still have leftovers. The food is delicious. The flavors are well balanced and the food is simply good. Also, important to mention this food truck stays open until much later than all food trucks, such that it is good for dinner. Definitely worth checking out!

This meal was a highlight to the trip in Hawaii. I tried the Thai prad ka pow chicken and the crab fried rice. Both were AMAZING and flavorful. They cook it super fresh and the flavors just explode in the mouth. They're very kind as well. There are a few tables around to sit down. This is a GENEROUS amount of food and I finished the rest later and it was still very tasty. You can see the freshness of the cucumber and veggies in the dish, along with the juiciness of the meats. Definitely recommend!

There are loads of food trucks on Maui, but not a ton in Wailuku. A new addition to the pod in downtown Wailuku is most welcome, especially one as fabulous as Thai Esan Maui. Their menu has a lot of variety, including appetizers, soups, salads, and many great main dishes to choose from. On my first visit I got the spicy eggplant with tofu, which was fantastic: perfectly cooked eggplant, flavorful tofu, bell peppers, garlic, and plenty of Thai basil in a well balanced sauce. Next visit I got pad ginger, again with tofu; it too was delicious and full of bright flavors. I also got the Esan sausage appetizer, which was good but the flavors didn't seem as compelling to me. Thai tea to accompany any menu item is a must, and theirs is on point, but there are several other beverage options. Open 11-7 every day. A note on spiciness: I like spicy food (like habanero/Thai bird chile hot); I ordered the eggplant "spicy" but had to add chile powder (which they gave me on request...with a warning lol). On my return visit I ordered the pad ginger "Thai hot" and it was just right for me. If you're unsure, ask them and they'll help you figure out the right level. It's wonderful to have such fresh, authentic, and above all delicious Thai food in the heart of Wailuku town, and I'm looking forward to working my way through their menu!

I ordered a range of stuff on the menu. While there wasn't a standout dish for me, everything tasted fine, and they were super friendly. All the food was well packaged, and nothing leaked. I had a long 30 minutes drive to get the food back to the family. Check-in on Yelp for 10% off coupon!

Everything we ordered here was so yummy. We love every everything we ordered. The owners are super nice and friendly. The highlight were esan sausage and bamboo shoot salad.not easy to find them and even harder to find the good one. Definitely, going back to this place.

For a food truck, this one is definitely a hit! The food is so delicious and flavor and is make pretty quickly. It is an area of 4 food trucks and they have a very nice seating area with clean, comfortable tables. The portions of the meals are perfect and very reasonable for the price. I was very happy with the quality of the food. The workers are very nice and quick. I would definitely recommend, amazing place!!

The menu has all the familiar Thai favorites, but also dishes that are hard to come by in the States. We tried quite a few things, and everything was excellent. Our favorites were the Spicy Basil (pad krapow) and Mom's Sausage (sai oua). The pad krapow comes with ground meat, as it should, and has that savory, spicy, fragrant flavor I look for. Mom's Sausage is incredibly flavorful and definitely worth ordering. The Pad Mama is another standout. It's a simple Thai comfort dish made with instant noodles, but they do it perfectly. And don't skip the mango sticky rice! The sticky rice was warm, soft, and pillowy, and the mango was perfectly ripe. Everyone here is super friendly too. The interior is cute, creative, and full of little details that show how much thought went into the place. They even play Thai country music in the background. One tip for first-timers: when you arrive, grab a menu from the check-in spot outside the restaurant, to the left of the dining area. Then head into the dining area and they'll seat you. You order through the QR code at your table and pay + tip when you place your order. Food is served in paper takeout containers. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in Maui!

They've done this twice and I can't even call them to ask them because their number doesn't work and there's no way of getting a hold of them. I wish their menu was more accurate or if that's the case, note that the fish could be substituted because what we ordered versus what we got, are definitely 2 different things. I know what tilapia costs versus pompano and if you're going to charge me $30 for fish, I would expect to get what I ordered. I messaged them through their social media since their phone doesn't work so hopefully they respond and do the right thing. We've been loyal customers and this isn't cool. Dinner takeouts are not cheap on island so when we splurge for the $30 fish, we hope to get just that.

They opened a couple of months ago and have a small menu that consists of birria sliders, hermanos nachos, birria quesataco, 3 de camaron tacos, and a ribeye plate. My first in initial impression was just ok. I had been really digging shrimp tacos lately and so I went for the 3 de camaron tacos. Unfortunately I assumed it would also come with consomme, but it doesn't. That was my bad and I knew I should have asked. The tacos tasted ok though, but it was a little too spicy for my palate and I think I would have enjoyed it more with consomme. I saw them at one of the Night Markets in town a few weeks ago and decided to give them a try again. I went for the pork belly and my other half got the birria quesatacos. They were both ready pretty quickly and we dug in. My pork belly was very very tender and melt in your mouth. It seemed like it was sous vide with how soft it was. It came with a medley of tomatoes and onions and other spices and I really enjoyed it. It was a bit pricey though at $16 and one slice of pork belly. We all shared the birria quesatacos and enjoyed those as well. It's one of the better versions I've had on island with good flavor. I finally got my consomme and it made all the difference. I'm glad I gave them a second try and will hopefully see pork belly on the menu again. They are open from Monday to Friday and closed on the weekends unless you can catch them at an event!

The roast duck was really good actually. The general tsao's chicken and chicken lettuce was good, I've definitely been to other spots that were better but I don't have anything bad to say about it. What I really disliked about this place was the Seafood Bird's Nest. Initially, they thought I ordered a Seafood Delight, but my order was missing the noodles. But they basically just fried up some noodles real quick and threw it under. And that part wouldn't have been a problem for me, but it was honestly waaaay too salty (and I like really salty! so that says a lot to me) It was difficult to eat to be honest, but I of course didn't want to waste it. The seafood included 3 pieces of shrimp, about a stick of imitation crab meat, a couple small pieces of scallop, and A LOT of calamari pieces that were soooo tough to chew, we couldn't even really eat them! For the chicken lettuce, they gave us about 3 full pieces of lettuce that was cut up and then charged us $4.00 for more pieces of lettuce which is pretty pricey lol. The siu mai was mid.. but you get what you pay for. There was also a 3% additional kitchen surcharge which was weird...? Still not sure what that was for lol. And then on top of that there's another 3% charge if you use credit card, so just be aware of that. The service was fine, because there was basically no one else in the restaurant anyway. Also - my boyfriend told me they had no soap in the restroom at all which was inconvenient. Overall, the price of their food does not make sense for the level of quality. I wouldn't recommend to my peers to come here, except maybe just grab their roast duck to go.

The chicken was heavily breaded but the sauce was nice. The fried rice was a dark brown mixture that didn't look like any rice I've had before. My companion ordered the curry chicken with vegetables with her side of chow mein. The curry was ok and so was the chicken but the Bell pepper needed to be cooked a little longer. The chow mein noodles were more like spaghetti noodles with seasoning. The restaurant doors were wide open and the fans were spinning and the air conditioning was turned off. I wanted to give this place a good review as I selected the place based on existing Yelp reviews but sorry can't do it.
