Food is ok, this is the second time I ordered from them, I have tried Green and yellow curry and it was good today I tried Pad Thai, I can't seem to taste the flavor since all I taste is lime, I didn't even squished the lime they provided it's just so sour. I don't usually eat out here and i'm wary of trying new thai places. i'm so glad i did. i got the drunken noodle and papaya salad. This is the best papaya salad i've had in maui. Also i feel like it's the only place so far that has a realistic understanding of what spice is. Ordered both items medium spicy and it was just that. Perfection. I usually don't get enough spice. Really great experience! This food truck is located in a center with four others. It is easily accessible and has an adjacent parking lot. There is a shaded sitting area, but no bathrooms. The lady working was very nice and took our order efficiently. She was patient and our food came out quickly. Originally, my family and I thought the place was quite pricy for being a truck. But the portions were very large. Two people could easily share and still have leftovers. The food is delicious. The flavors are well balanced and the food is simply good. Also, important to mention this food truck stays open until much later than all food trucks, such that it is good for dinner. Definitely worth checking out! read more

You'll find different flavors and dishes here compared to other food trucks with your typical curries and a little spicer and richer in herbs and sauces. What caught my eye here was the Esan sausage. The sausage is made with ground pork and pork fat, mixed with garlic and rice, then fermented for several days. The flavor is quite unique with a bit of sourness from the fermentation. It comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce and oh my, I am completely obsessed with it! Highly recommend this dish! I get it with a side of white rice to make the meal complete. I've also tried the Pad See Ew which was good as well. The best part is the staff here are incredibly friendly and so nice! They seem like really great people and the customer service is on point. Also, if you work in the area, they offer a small discount. They were previously located in Lahaina and reopened in Wailuku earlier this year at the Wailuku Food Trucks lot. This meal was a highlight to the trip in Hawaii. I tried the Thai prad ka pow chicken and the crab fried rice. Both were AMAZING and flavorful. They cook it super fresh and the flavors just explode in the mouth. They're very kind as well. There are a few tables around to sit down. This is a GENEROUS amount of food and I finished the rest later and it was still very tasty. You can see the freshness of the cucumber and veggies in the dish, along with the juiciness of the meats. There are loads of food trucks on Maui, but not a ton in Wailuku. A new addition to the pod in downtown Wailuku is most welcome, especially one as fabulous as Thai Esan Maui. Their menu has a lot of variety, including appetizers, soups, salads, and many great main dishes to choose from. On my first visit I got the spicy eggplant with tofu, which was fantastic: perfectly cooked eggplant, flavorful tofu, bell peppers, garlic, and plenty of Thai basil in a well balanced sauce. Next visit I got pad ginger, again with tofu; it too was delicious and full of bright flavors. I also got the Esan sausage appetizer, which was good but the flavors didn't seem as compelling to me. Thai tea to accompany any menu item is a must, and theirs is on point, but there are several other beverage options. Open 11-7 every day. A note on spiciness: I like spicy food (like habanero/Thai bird chile hot); I ordered the eggplant "spicy" but had to add chile powder (which they gave me on request...with a warning lol). On my return visit I ordered the pad ginger "Thai hot" and it was just right for me. If you're unsure, ask them and they'll help you figure out the right level. It's wonderful to have such fresh, authentic, and above all delicious Thai food in the heart of Wailuku town, and I'm looking forward to working my way through their menu! read more

I had a great meal today! I had Veggie Spring Rolls and Garlic Chicken. Spring Rolls had rice noodles and veggies in a light, crunchy wrap, like lumpia. The chicken was shaved and you could request it from mild to hot. Sauce was sweet and spicy. It came with a fried egg, 2 scoops of white rice and cucumber slices. Food was ready in 5 minutes! There are picnic tables under a tarp to sit down but it was still pretty hot. I had eaten at this truck once before and signed up for their rewards program. I was pleasantly surprised to get a $6 discount on my order earned from the previous meal. Food was just as good as from the first time so they're consistent. I will absolutely come back again. I ordered the spring rolls and panaag curry medium spice with tofu. The spring rolls didn't have much flavor or seasoning, and the dipping sauce was okay. The panaag curry had no flavor or spice to it and looked like it was watered down. The vegetables and tofu were soft yet firm but did lack the Thai flavors i was craving today. I honestly was looking really forward to getting sticky rice with mango and was so happy to see that they had this on their Doordash menu. So I ordered it along with another item. Sadly, for my sticky rice item, I was given only rice in a plastic wrapping. I had to double check the online description for the item I ordered and it clearly said it would come with mango. We went on First Friday so it was really busy. The food was pretty good. I tried their chicken pad krapao, spring rolls, and the sausage. I ordered the pad krapao medium spicy but I guess my tolerance must be pretty high because it wasn't spicy at all. Their sausage tasted like longganisa (a Filipino sausage) but a little more floral. The spring rolls were ok. The service was ok too. They were really busy so I understand the wait and everything but when I ordered, I didn't get a number. But everyone after me got a number. I waited close to 40 minutes for my food while people who ordered after me got their food. But I get it, it was a crazy evening. The guy that was helping me was very nice though and respectful. We heard about this place from a friend. We decided to taste test for ourselves and went Wednesday dinner towards closing hour. At first, we had to look for it because they weren't located in the main court; they were located in the food truck parking lot because they're new. It was a HIDDEN GEM!! I ordered my favorite dish pad kaprow (Thai Basil Chicken) and I'm a big critic when it comes to this dish because most places make it wrong. This place right here was LEGIT and had the right flavors!!! It was soooooo good! They make the food fresh from scratch and use natural ingredients from a farm. I give this a 5 out of 5 and definitely recommend it for anyone looking for AUTHENTIC Thai food! Plus, the owners are so nice and friendly.
